We have removed the link to buildandshoot in your signature as it is against our forum rules. We are passionate about supporting communities that are good for the official community but despite numerous attempts to bring buildandshoot on side, they have fallen short of the mark we expect. In particular, we are concerned at the discussion about hacking Ace of Spades and the posting of anti-Jagex sentiment which we believe is dissuading others from joining the official community.

 We are really keen to bring buildandshoot on side as they have the potential to be an excellent community. We would ask you to help achieve this by encouraging the website users to meet our key rules for fansites.

 · Advertising of the fansite on the official forums can only be through a signature
 · Each fansite primary focus should be the release version of Ace of Spades
 · Fansites should not dissuade its community from taking part in other Ace of Spades communities or actively drive traffic away from the official site
 · Each fansite's primary focus should be on supporting the overall community
 · Fansites should not encourage illegal activity

Could I get a link to the rules? I went to double-check this and couldn't find them, thanks. Last I saw, we were allowed to have such signatures, according to you.

 Regarding the hacking discussion, there was one thread, which was quickly closed by an admin, so it is obvious that Build and Shoot does not condone hacking (if anything, they look down on it). The anti-Jagex sentiment mostly comes from things like this, as well as the lack of a proper response to any genuine concerns, instead just giving the same generic reply each time.

 As for "Each fansite primary focus should be the release version of Ace of Spades", you clearly know nothing about Build and Shoot. It was created specifically for the older version, largely because of the way you handle this forum. If it focused on the OpenGL version, that would remove the whole point of its existence.

 Looking forward to a reply that properly addresses the issues I've mentioned, thanks,

Heya,

 There is a site rules button on the main navigation bar which have all the rules in them. We don't mind people using signatures with links in them but they have to be to appropriate sites. We do not consider buildandshoot and appropriate site.

 This brings me onto your current signature, linking to a page on a site which links to buildandshoot is also not appropriate. So, I have removed this signature too. Please be aware that if there is a repeat we will remove your ability to have a signature.

 You mentioned that we have not responded to any genuine concerns, if you want to mail me back with any genuine concerns you have then I'll happily respond to those points. However, if we are giving the same answer, the reason for this is because that is the answer. It may not be the answer everyone wants to hear, but it is still the answer.

 We are well aware of the purpose of Buildandshoot, however we have tried to bring them onside to be a supported fansite. However, as things stand we have not been able to reach an agreement with them. I believe everyone is well aware of what we have asked to do to become a fansite and we are more than happy to engage with them if they are willing to do so.

Thank you, I somehow missed that. I guess I'm just used to forums only showing the rules as an announcement and such and didn't think to look there.

 Regarding the signature, I am not allowed to link to "inappropriate sites", correct? You definition of an inappropriate site, from what I can tell, is one that matches any of the following:
Has any version other than the OpenGL version of the game as 50% or more of its focus.
Has had hacking of Ace of Spades (OpenGL version) mentioned on it, at all.
Has anti-Jagex sentiment on it that has not been removed by the admins (censorship?).
Links to any other inappropriate site.

 If any of these are wrong, please clarify (not by saying I am incorrect, but by explaining the exact rule that I have mistaken for one of the above), or if I have missed any, please add them. I do not want to lose the ability to have a signature because of a misunderstanding when all I wanted to do was advertise my site (in the case of the wiki).

 As for the Build and Shoot thing, obviously you are not going to make them a "supported fansite" as you want them to become, essentially, an additional community to this one and have them remove their main purpose for existing. I'd say that's far too much to expect.
