  1. CYRANO:
  2. [making two steps toward DE GUICHE and pointing to the CADETS] My Lord de Guiche, permit me
  3. to present my fellow cadets:
  4. The bold Cadets of Gascony,
  5. Of Carbon de Castel-Jaloux!
  6. Brawling and swaggering boastfully,
  7. The bold Cadets of Gascony!
  8. Bragging of arms and heraldry,
  9. Their veins brimming with blood so blue,
  10. The bold Cadets of Gascony,
  11. Of Carbon de Castel-Jaloux.
  12. Eagle-eyed, and graceful as cats,
  13. Fierce mustache and wolf-like grin,
  14. They slash those before them as though they were gnats.
  15. Eagle-eyed, and graceful as cats,
  16. Haphazardly sporting their torn and worn hats,
  17. With feathers to cover the holes there within,
  18. Eagle-eyed and graceful as cats,
  19. Fierce mustache and wolf-like grin.
  20. Stab-Your-Belly and Slit-Your-Trunk
  21. Are the gentlest nicknames they bear.
  22. With fame and glory their soul is drunk!
  23. Stab-Your-Belly and Slit-Your-Trunk,
  24. In brawl and battle they show their spunk,
  25. Doing things others would never dare,
  26. Stab-Your-Belly and Slit-Your-Trunk
  27. Are the gentlest nicknames they bear!
  28. Behold the Cadets of Gascony!
  29. All jealous lovers are sport for you!
  30. Fair ladies will lose their purity!
  31. Behold the Cadets of Gascony!
  32. The ones all husbands fear to see,
  33. For their wives the Cadets will woo!
  34. Behold the Cadets of Gascony!
  35. Husbands and lovers are game for you!
  36.
