01[19:58] <Saryx> Saryx was a bit confused as to why the back entrance, but no reason not to follow the directions. He was both punctual and at least decently well-dressed, to be respectful to this teacher of hers! Making the assumption Anna was waiting out back for him, so Saryx waves over to her with a "Hey there, Anna!" as he draws near.
[19:59] <@Shawyun_Sariri> You two actually arrive around the same time.  She's heavily dressed with a fuzzy hooded jacket and sunglasses on, and sort of jumps a bit when you call out to her.
[20:00] <@Shawyun_Sariri> "Oh!  Um.  Hi.  Sorry, thought someone else noticed me for a second..." She looks around to make sure she wasn't followed.
01[20:04] <Saryx> "... Oh. Sorry about scaring you like that!" He can't help but look around a sec as well when Anna starts before he realizes what her deal is. "... And, umm... Didn't realize you were undercover a second there. ... Sorry about that, too."
[20:05] <@Shawyun_Sariri> "It's okay!  Just...figured I'd give it a try since it seems to work well for Sis."  She fiddles with a keyring.  "Main reason I said to come to the back though was...well I have the keys to the kitchen."
01[20:07] <Saryx> ". . ." Saryx looks over Anna's attire. "While I can see how it'd work, don't you think you should wear something a little less . . ." He pauses to think on how to put this. "Well, walking around like that in any place but Shiverwing's probably gonna draw some attention, Regalia or not. And it's kinda hot for that, too, don't you think?"
[20:09] <@Shawyun_Sariri> She slumps a bit. "...Maybe.  I should get a wig or something I guess..." she opens the door after a bit.  "Hopefully he's not in one of his moods..."
[20:13] <@Shawyun_Sariri> She leads you back into the kitchen.  Despite the actual bar being closed it seems the kitchen is being used.  Applainces on, stuff laid around, you can hear someone cooking something over a burner...
01[20:14] <Saryx> "It's not bad, Anna! Just... Not weather appropriate, is all." Girl's upset; gotta cheer her up some. "Don't think a wig would be necessary, but just..." He starts snapping his fingers as he tries to think of something. "Well, you just gotta dress out of your element some while not sticking out all too much! I think I got an idea what you can do later 'bout that~" He follows her in, bringing along his cooler full of everything.
[20:17] <@Shawyun_Sariri> "You...do?" She perks up a bit.  "What sort of things do you think wou-" FWWOOOOOOSH! A flame kicks up and she eeps a bit.
[20:17] <@Shawyun_Sariri> You see a blond, long haired man in...a magician's robes, with a cooking apron and a chef's hat.  He seems very fixated on whatever dish he's preparing.
01[20:20] <Saryx> Saryx begins to nod 'Yup' when the burst of flame and Anna's 'eep'ing catch him off guard some. He turns to the source of the heat, and... Scratches his head some. "... Is that your teacher, Anna?" He asks. "Isn't that a bit dangerous, working with loose clothing and stuff like that over flames?"
01[20:21] <Saryx> Kid's a blacksmith. He can totally recognize that's a health hazard from a mile away!
[20:21] <@Shawyun_Sariri> "It's...probably not best to question him over it." She whispers as she approaches him.
01[20:23] <Saryx> "Got it, Anna," He whispers back, and gives her a quick little thumbs up as she advances.
[20:26] <@Shawyun_Sariri> The man speaks without turning to you.  "Back for more evaluation already?  I assumed my criticism of that vile pillow you made was enough for a bit.  Who is the boy with you anyway?"
05[20:30] <@Shawyun_Sariri> "Um...this is Saryx, sir.  I was wondering if you wouldn't mind...showing him the basics?  He's a craftsmen himself and was curious..."
[20:34] <@Shawyun_Sariri> Carl slowly takes the skillet off the flame and dumps an Omelette onto a plate before turning to you.  "A craftsmen, you say."
01[20:36] <Saryx> That was... Ouch, that was harsh! Saryx kinda thought the glowing pillow was a cool idea before it got lewded up by Gigi's shenanigans! Still, probably not the best idea given what Anna said to comment on that. "Saryx Sylvestine, Sir!" He nods Like Anna said, I'm a blacksmith in training, though I've also been working on building my skills in other sorts of crafts; I'm hoping to become one of the best craftsmen in all of Visiwa to help out my family some! ... Your skillets are absolutely amazing, by the way, Sir... If you don't mind me saying that."
[20:39] <@Shawyun_Sariri> He stares a bit. "A blacksmith.  Using my skillets.  Hah."
[20:39] <@Shawyun_Sariri> He turns back to his dish and garnishes it with greeneries.  "As long as you didn't wash it with soap I suppose.  Hilarious."
[20:40] <@Shawyun_Sariri> "What proof do you have to even be capable of learning the traditions of Alchemy?  It is not something anyone can simply learn with practice.  Power over the arcane is a must."
01[20:45] <Saryx> "Well, it... it was advertised you could make anything with it! As a craftsman, I'm always looking for new ways to work with my materials!" He stops to think for a second, more just musing to himself. "... I should probably get another one to send home to Dad, too... For how efficient they are, I'm sure he'd appreciate it a whole lot..." And then back to reality! "Well, when I was talking to Anna, I'd told her I'd spent some time studying up in Sandseeker. They said I had some psionic aptitude, and helped me some with it. ... And I also just studied some with Miss Hernand... Err, Gabby, over at the Veilbeak Gym, too. I can show you what came out of my training from both of them if that would work, Sir..."

[20:46] <@Shawyun_Sariri> He tosses a few things in front of you.  Flour.  Eggs.  A bottle Alchemist's Fire.  "Make a pancake."
[20:47] <@Shawyun_Sariri> He tosses a few other things at Anna.  Sugar. Milk. Nevermeltice. "Ice cream for you.  Hardly a breakfast dish but you seem to struggle with these fundamentals still yourself."
[20:47] <@Shawyun_Sariri> She wimpers and nods, looking over it...
06[20:48] * Saryx blink blink. "... A pancake?" He picks up the Alchemist's Fire. "... Don't you think this is... Well... A bit much for a pancake?"

[20:52] <@Shawyun_Sariri> "The flour is the basis of all pastries.  The eggs to give it the moisture.  The flame to perfect it.  It is precisely what is required, nothing more, nothing less."
01[20:54] <Saryx> "Sorry to question you, Sir. It just seemed, well... These things aren't cheap, the Alchemist's Fires. And money's already plenty tight for me. So to use it for making a pancake... Well, it seemed it would be better put the Fire to use with something more... Well, more permanent. ... Can't say I haven't done weirder, though. I'll give it my best shot, Sir!"
[20:55] <@Shawyun_Sariri> "Watch." he gets equivalent stuff, and holds his hands over it, concentrating.  "FlourEggsFlame! Tsvai's Simplistic but Fantastic Flapjack!"
[20:55] <@Shawyun_Sariri> The three components begin to swirl before him, and merge into one and...then there's a pancake.
[20:55] <@Shawyun_Sariri> "YOU are the flame of creation.  Cost is nothing to me.  Work your will and see yourself."
[21:01] <@Shawyun_Sariri> Anna is already concentrating, the three components hovering about.  She's sweating a bit.  "Ice cream...ice...cream..."
01[21:04] <Saryx> Saryx watches in amazement how Carl just up and magicked everything into a pancake! "That's incredible, Sir! I'll... I'll do my best not to make this go to waste!" ... Just to clarify, he's gotta basically try and exert his willpower to, like... Fuse all this stuff together ala Velvet Room type shenanigans?

01[21:15] <Saryx> Saryx takes a moment to reposition all of the ingredients such that, within their containers, they're in the shape of a triangle, the Alchemist's Fire taking the top of the triangle and furthest away from him. He took note of how Carl had done it before, what with calling out the ingredients before, and how Anna'd done chanting and was calling for ice cream. He... Thinks he's got an idea of what to do, if not a bit out there. With a smile that radiates pure confidence, he holds his hands out over the two closer ingredients. ... Making sure the eggs are cracked and the flour's opened first. "From the golden sea, a storm arises..." He pulls his hands closer together. "The sands of creation, sifting and bent at the mercy of the wind..." Gonna see what happens with these after Focus Roll before continuing with this.

01[21:22] <Saryx> "... Join as one with the spark of creation, and come forth!" He cries out, pushing forth once he sees the two start sifting. He closes his eyes once the fire goes off, opening them a second later. ... And he stares at the puck on the table. ... And stares some more. "... That... That actually..." He's starting to get psyched, and his volume meter's starting to rise up. "I can't believe it! That actually worked! Anna! Anna, I... I did it! I really..." And then he turns over to Anna. And sees her... Having failed. Awwww ;_; Poor her.
01[21:23] <Saryx> He goes quiet a second. And tries to think. Think, Saryx... Think! "... Don't look so down, Anna! I'm sure it'll still taste good! ... Can I get a spoon, Sir?"
[21:24] <@Annette> He tosses one your way, along with more flour and eggs.  "You overcooked it.  Impressive for a first attempt, however.  Try again."
[21:24] <@Annette> There's more stuff for Annette as well.  The Alchemist Fire isn't exactly depleted much from this.
01[21:25] <Saryx> ... Oh, that's what you meant by a hockey puck.
01[21:26] <Saryx> "Yours still looks edible, at least, Anna~ ... Mind if I try?"
01[21:28] <Saryx> He points the spoon in the direction of that bowl of mess in front of her.
[21:30] <@Annette> She steps aside and lets you.
[21:31] <@Annette> Tastes like melted ice cream.  "You got more of your sister's temper in you than you care to admit," Carl comments.  "Again."
01[21:32] <Saryx> Welp! He takes a scoop. ". . ." And... He's okay with this! "It's just fine, Anna! All you gotta do is put it in the freezer and it'll be good for later~"
[21:32] <@Annette> "But freezing things is what I'm supposed to be good at," she wimpers and starts to try again...
06[21:37] * Saryx sadface. "I'm trying to be encouraging, Anna! Yours is at least edible!" He gestures to his immolated turd of an excuse for a pancake. "Dad always told me the only way to get any better is to just keep trying~ So wipe the ice cream off before it gets stuck to your face, and let's try again, okay?" He pumped himself up real good with that peptalk.
01[21:38] <Saryx> And is totally ready to try again. He looks at the Alchemist's Fire. "... Oh, that's... That's not nearly as bad as I thought it'd be! I thought I was gonna end up using the whole flame on one pancake. Hunh!"

[21:42] <@Annette> "Thanks...Saryx." She says as she concentrates herself.

01[22:02] <Saryx> Saryx pulls off a piece and tries to consume it in unison.

[22:02] <@Annette> You see what she means.  It's just flour and eggs so not the best thing you've ever eaten, but it's a pancake alright.

[22:03] <@Annette> Carl: "Cooking is one thing.  I imagine what you seek is more...material in nature."
[22:04] <@Annette> There's a pair of oven mitts and some...reptilian scales in front of you, along with the flame.

[22:06] <@Annette> Anna got a ice cream scoop and some tinfoil.  She stares at the tinfoil. :|

01[22:19] <Saryx> ... Actually, scratch sprinkling. He takes a bit to autism over putting them down all nice and tesselated and what have you, then thinks something up before proceeding. "Those born of undying flames... Grant me your protection!" He pulls his hands apart, the idea for the flame to spread out and wash over the gloves, 'baking' or 'welding' the scales into them or something.

[22:28] <@Annette> Carl laughs.  "Obviously this young man is the key to it," he says as he nods at the pickaxe.  "Hrrrm.  At such a rate I do not believe you would have much to learn from me.  Experiment in your travels and you shall master this in time.  Small at first."
