  5. [22:21:54] %Aladyyn: you've heard/read how to build stall and offensive teams to better understand the matchup
  6. [22:22:12] %Aladyyn: now we'll look at the interesting part: the battling
  7. [22:22:47] %Aladyyn: a lot of people complain that they are unable to beat stall, which is one of the reasons this workshop was made
  8. [22:23:39] %Aladyyn: but playing against stall is actually not THAT hard if you know how to approach it
  9. [22:23:58] %Aladyyn: there are a couple things that will help you immensely
  10. [22:24:17] %Aladyyn: I compiled them into a couple steps you might want to follow when battling stall
  11. [22:24:26] %Aladyyn: the first step is
  12. [22:24:31] %Aladyyn: identify your win condition
  13. [22:25:08] %Aladyyn: this should happen before the battle begins and is a lot more important when playing against stall than any other playstyle
  14. [22:25:50] %Aladyyn: basically what you want to do, is look at which one of your mons has the easiest time sweeping against the opposing team
  15. [22:26:08] %Aladyyn: and then think about how to remove the things that prevent it from achieving that goal
  16. [22:26:54] %Aladyyn: after you determine what your wincondition is
  17. [22:27:15] %Aladyyn: you can focus on executing the game plan
  18. [22:28:00] %Aladyyn: the easiest way to help you execute it
  19. [22:28:06] %Aladyyn: is to use entry hazards

  21. [22:28:28] %Aladyyn: sr and spikes of all sorts are very helpful in weakening stall teams
  22. [22:28:52] %Aladyyn: of course you should have a spinblocker of some sorts if you go this way, spiritomb is generally the most reliable
  23. [22:29:03] %Aladyyn: because the most common hazard remover on stall is cryogonal
  24. [22:29:30] %Aladyyn: the other crucial thing in wearing down stall teams
  25. [22:29:37] %Aladyyn: is eliminating the wish passer, generally audino
  26. [22:30:03] %Aladyyn: because of regenerator, audino is hard to wear down
  27. [22:30:19] %Aladyyn: but it can be achieved easily with the aforementioned hazards
  28. [22:31:18] %Aladyyn: once you get rid of audino, removing things that prevent you from winning should be much easier, as a lot of common stall pokemon have no reliable recovery - dragalge, granbull, ferroseed etc
  29. [22:31:55] %Aladyyn: so this is basically how you should proceed when playing against stall

  31. [22:32:11] %Aladyyn: it's especially important to stay in the driver's seat the whole time
  32. [22:32:58] %Aladyyn: if the stall player can just make the safe play every time, you'll have a very hard time breaking through
  33. [22:33:06] %Aladyyn: you need to force them to play your game, not the other way around
  34. [22:33:29] %Aladyyn: aggressive switches, predictions, stuff like that
  35. [22:33:52] %Aladyyn: force the stall player to make risky plays
  36. [22:33:59] %Aladyyn: and look for any mistake they make
  37. [22:34:11] %Aladyyn: and punish it accordingly
  38. [22:36:58] %Aladyyn: to end this, I'm gonna list some pokemon that can just run through whole stall teams
  39. [22:37:02] %Aladyyn: or most of them at least
  40. [22:37:21] %Aladyyn: the most common one is magmortar
  41. [22:37:29] %Aladyyn: aka the best wallbreaker in NU
  42. [22:38:24] %Aladyyn: magmortar has pretty much no safe switchins on defensive teams
  43. [22:38:30] %Aladyyn: and can break down many of the defensive cores
  44. [22:38:47] %Aladyyn: with coverage of fire blast/thunderbolt/hp grass/earthquake
  45. [22:39:21] %Aladyyn: camerupt can do pretty much the same thing with fire blast/earthquake/solarbeam with power herb
  46. [22:39:28] %Aladyyn: while providing hazard support for your team
  47. [22:40:03] %Soulgazer: lol
  48. [22:40:48] %Aladyyn: taunt+nasty plot mismagius is also a huge threat to stall teams as they can't really do much about it except dragon tail
  49. [22:41:21] %Aladyyn: note that knock off audino is pretty common this gen so unfortunately mismagius can't set up on it every time

  57. [22:43:30] %Aladyyn: it can set up on a lot of things on any given stall team and punch huge hules in physical walls
  58. [22:44:02] %Aladyyn: and it has great stab combo only resisted by a handful of mons, not commonly found on stall teams (such as torterra)
