  1. FAQ - aka questions you ask every single thread.
  2.
  3. 1. Normal FAQ
  4. 2. Festivals FAQ (SPOILERS)
  5. 3. Full Spoiler Section FAQ
  6.
  7. 1.
  8. >WHAT'S THIS GAME ABOUT?
  9. If you've played Harvest Moon before then you already know because it's pretty much the same with the exception being a simple combat that has been added.
  10. If you haven't, you inherit a farm and do the usual things you do at a farm: grow crops, raise animals, fish, go through the mine and battle monsters, romance girls in the town, get married and have kids, process materials to craft more equipment, etc.
  11.
  12. >SHOULD I BUY THIS GAME?
  13. Pirate it. Play at least 5-10 hours and then decide for yourself.
  14.
  15. >CAN I PLAY IT ON LINUX?
  16. http://stardewvalleywiki.com/Linux
  17.
  18. >STEAM OR GOG?
  19. Steam gets the updates early but gets a bigger cut of the sales.
  20. GoG takes a couple of days to update but gives the developer a bigger cut.
  21. You decide.
  22.
  23. >MULTIPLAYER?
  24. https://twitter.com/ConcernedApe/status/717478327724826624 Soon™
  25.
  26. >WHO THE FUCK IS CONCERNEDAPE?
  27. The developer of the game, Legend says that he made the game alone while having a girlfriend and a part-time job.
  28. He's concerned about this general dying.
  29. See this interview for more info/what's next in the game: http://www.pcgamer.com/stardew-valley-interview/
  30. https://twitter.com/ConcernedApe
  31.
  32. >WHAT SHOULD I DO WHEN I START?
  33. First go to the options menu and turn auto run on.
  34. Do what you've been instructed to, raise crops you get from the mayor. Clean space in your farm. Go meet everyone in town to get a sense of the layout and where everyone lives and what they do.
  35. Get 50 wood and make a chest, you are gonna need it since your inventory is really limited at the start.
  36.
  37. >WHERE IS <INSERT LOCATION HERE>?
  38. Go around town and look for yourself, the map isn't huge and you'll be able to see everything yourself + finish that quest where you need to greet everyone.
  39. Or if you're looking for a specific later-game location, go to the spoilers section.
  40. Until you get to a location on the map, the tooltip for it will only show "???" when checked in the game's map. Once you get to it, it'll update along with the working hours if it's a store. If it's a house, it will also list all the residents living there.
  41.
  42. >WHERE IS <INSERT PERSON HERE> AT <INSERT TIME OF DAY HERE>?
  43. You should find out for yourself.
  44.
  45. >WAIFUS/HUSBANDOS?

  47. Females: Abigail, Haley, Leah, Maru, Penny.
  48. Males: Alex, Elliott, Harvey, Sam, Sebastian.
  49.
  50. >WHICH WAIFU/HUSBANDO SHOULD I GO FOR?

  52.
  53. >THE FUCKING SON OF ROBIN WON'T COME OUT OF HIS ROOM
  54. His name is Sebastian, he's a fucking NEET, what did you expect? Just wait for him to come out, usually at 3pm or 5pm, it depends on the day.
  55.
  56. >IF I WALK OVER MY CROPS DO I RISK GETTING THEM DESTROYED/PRODUCE LOW QUALITY?
  57. No.
  58.
  59. >WHAT DO THE GOLD AND SILVER STARS NEXT TO MY CROPS/ITEMS MEAN?
  60. It means that that item is worth more than a non-star one, gold-starred items are worth the most, however this does not make any difference in making artisan goods and using the furnace.
  61.
  62. >WHY DID ALL MY CROPS SUDDENLY DIE?
  63. Most crops die at the change of season, so your parsnips died because summer has started and they can't grow during summer. Time to visit the shop and buy new seeds.

  74. Currently, there's 5 levels of liking/disliking an item: Love, like, neutral, dislike, hate.
  75. There are certain universal items for each level which should give the same results regardless of who you give it to, so don't gift some ancient fucking scroll to someone just because they like reading books, they'll hate it and you'll lose affection.
  76.
  77. >WHAT DOES X PERSON LIKE MOST?
  78. Talk to him/her or their family, they will sometimes tell you what they like/dislike.
  79. If you are too lazy see this: http://i.imgur.com/8ptFoJr.jpg

  83.
  84. >HOW DO I CHANGE MY CLOTHES?
  85. Go to the spoiler section.

  88. Read this: http://pastebin.com/7CgSevcJ

  91. Crafting recipes can be gained through leveling up a skill or purchasing them at the different stores.
