Halo 2 and why I hate it.

  1. Here's a list of everything that went wrong in that last run that lost me time. The stupid part is that it was STILL 1:19 pace, but like always I can never keep the run because something stupid is bound to happen. I made very very few mistakes on this run, but lost over TWO MINUTES from RNG. I want to emphasize that my only goal is 1:19:59. The current WR is 1:20:21. My average splits in Livesplit are 1:20:31 (If you are unaware of average splits, they usually are 60-90 seconds behind your personal best. You do the math.). My sum of best splits is 1:17:31. There is literally no good reason to not have the 1:19 after a month at this point. It is unfuckingbelievable that I can't get a moderately good run. I'm not going for a perfect run, I'm not even going for a good run. I'm going for a decent run. Every run I've had in the past month has had just super stupid things kill every single one of them. 99% of run killers being entirely RNG. Hell the current record has a 25 second death, and 30 seconds lost to Sacred Icon alone. I'm getting frustrated when I play a fucking videogame because regardless of how well I play I can't achieve a goal that is incredibly easy at this point. This is the last goal I have for Halo 2 and just videogames in general and I'd like to move on. I'm not a person to set unreasonable goals either. I WILL achieve the ones I set. Now please look below at everything that went poorly in my last run that died to the final level.

  4. - Bad shotgun: 1 second
  5. - Bad bomb room spawns: 4 seconds
  6.  
  7. Outskirts
  8. - Average all around, cutscene lasting longer than normal lost time: 1 second
  9.  
  10. Metro
  11. - Rammed by the wraith: 3-4 seconds
  12. - Late cutscene: 1.5 seconds
  13.  
  14. Arbiter
  15. - Got the 1/4 bad sentinel spawns
  16. - Elite spawned in my face at the first hall, ruining cancels
  17.  
  18. through first hall: 6 seconds
  19. - Heretic leader gets caught on banshee to ruin glass clip
  20. - Lose coin flip door: 10 seconds
  21.  
  22. Oracle
  23. - Bad infection spawns: 5 seconds
  24. - Delayed combat form round: 12 seconds
  25. - Enemies scattered at the base of the elevator: 6 seconds
  26.  
  27. Delta Halo
  28. - Nothing went wrong here RNG-wise because the only RNG is
  29.  
  30. getting bodied by a wraith.
  31.  
  32. Regret
  33. - 1/10 red elite spawn, both elites dove and hid: 7 seconds
  34. - Delayed Cortana dialogue after all enemies dead: 3 seconds
  35. - Enemies alerted without me being shot at to ruin mountain
  36.  
  37. cancel
  38.  
  39. Sacred Icon
  40. - Max first wave spawns: 10 seconds
  41. - Incredibly delayed second wave spawn: 12 seconds
  42.  
  43. Quarantine Zone
  44. - Flood meleed vehicle into flips and more flips: 5 seconds
  45.  
  46. Gravemind
  47. - Brute not dying from needler: 4 seconds
  48. - Grunt not dying from brute shot in the prison and hiding until after everything was beyond dead: 10 seconds
  49. - Middle prison first: 6 seconds
  50. - Brute shotted in the back even after instant fly to brutes up the ramped room to make swag cancel off beam rifle jackal impossible
  51. - No grunt spawns forward and brute spawn incredibly far forward to ruin backup strats: 10 seconds
  52. - 2 drones in the final fight room: 6 seconds
  53.  
  54. Uprising
  55. - Little RNG at all here, checkpoints didn't eat inputs, so nothing really went wrong.
  56.  
  57. High Charity
  58. - Second spawn elite with sword and no enemies for cancel/fly: 3 seconds
  59. - Brutes spawned very far forward and sidestepped out of fly: 5 seconds
  60. - Drone spawned as far forward as possible to redirect fly: 2 seconds
  61. - No spawns in first or second hall that were remotely usable: 6 seconds
  62. - Brute ran forward on bridge for no reason to make cancelling off of him not possible: 3 seconds
  63.  
  64. Great Journey
  65. - Ghosts drove away from direction to progress through level: 4 seconds
  66. - Wraith backed up for miles and ghost got stolen: 30 seconds automatically whether or not I revert. Killed the 1:19 entirely.
  67. - Rage quit.
  68.  
  69. Adding ALL these times up minus the 30 second death of the run at Great Journey is over 2 minutes from RNG off of a near perfect run. A near perfect run is high 1:17, low 1:18. My goal is 1:19:59. That's it. I want nothing more.
