  12. [2016-03-02 13:18:08] <Kkat> 3Then a hoof reaches up and closes the hatch. With a metallic scraping sound, the wheel spins and the hatch seals. The ship slowly lowers towards the lake.
  13. [2016-03-02 13:18:18] <Kkat> 3As the /Rainbow Connection/ touches the dark water, sending the first ripples, the Captain of the Cutlass says a few words, wishing them a safe journey.
  14. [2016-03-02 13:18:27] <Kkat> 3The ropes to the balloon cut, and the submersible splashes into the water, sending out small waves. It rocks a moment before steadying.

  17. [2016-03-02 13:19:14] <Kkat> 3The snow shifts to rain again. The wind picks up. There are shouts of concern from the other ships.

  21. [2016-03-02 13:20:44] <Kkat> 3Golden_Dream is successful in finding a grove of trees with those unfriendly-looking spikey fruits with the bad smell. On the way back, Golden_Dream comes across a single tree bearing purple bananas.

  27. [2016-03-02 13:25:09] * Golden_Dream is currently doing the overencumbered trot of shame back to the ships. Yes, she could have just taken all the horrible sweatyrot fruits like she originally planned, but then she'd be eating horrible sweaty rotfruits. For days. No, she's at least enjoying some of her time.
  28. [2016-03-02 13:25:14] <Kkat> 3As night begins to fall, there is still no word from the water. The portal, it seems, remains open.

  30. [2016-03-02 13:26:09] * Bookwright wobbles the bundle of fronds unsteadily through the air as he talks with his mouth full. "Hey folksh, I found shome tashtey green shtuff. And I fink Goldy found shome shtuff too."

  32. [2016-03-02 13:31:19] * Get_Lost goes back again on the ship, checks who is doing what
  33. [2016-03-02 13:31:32] * Noble_Heart frowns, stands at the prow of their ship and scrapes a forehoof nervously. The lack of any word from below was worse than the disaster of weather. Keeping a close eye on the bubbles.
  34. [2016-03-02 13:34:32] * Golden_Dream grits her teeth as she hauls herself back into the /Shadowbolt/. She looks a tad overwhelmed. "WHY ARE FRUITS HEAVY."
  35. [2016-03-02 13:35:40] * Shatara assists in lifting Golden_Dream and/or her cargo on board
  36. [2016-03-02 13:36:10] * Bookwright "W'll, *munch*, it'sh pro'a'ly the wa'er in 'em. *munch*"
  37. [2016-03-02 13:38:09] * Get_Lost frowns "uhm.. if there was a way to... i'm not saying it is possible, but IF it was possible... do you think that we should go and check the portal ourselves?" seems very, very uncomfortable
  38. [2016-03-02 13:38:25] * Golden_Dream sharply yoinks the fronds from Bookie's collection, with this almost /offended/ look on her face, and then goes into the kitchen. The smell of stagnant, sweat-pooled water began shortly, as did the distant curses.
  39. [2016-03-02 13:40:30] * Bookwright mumbles something about bees and bonnets as Golden_Dream goes. "Well, anyways. How about that weather, eh?"
  40. [2016-03-02 13:41:39] * Shatara looks up. "It hasn't started raining subairships, at least."
  41. [2016-03-02 13:42:01] * Golden_Dream , in short order, starts sending dragons into the kitchen. They come out both holding their noses, and a small leafy foldovers.
  42. [2016-03-02 13:42:02] * Bookwright is addressing nopony in particular. "I'm no meteorologist, but I'd say if you don't like the weather... wait five minutes."

  44. [2016-03-02 13:42:35] <Kkat> 3Next to Noble_Heart, the familiar little draconequus strides up the deck railing and sets up a lounge chair before plopping into it, wearing a colorful shirt and holding an equally colorful drink with a tiny umbrella.
  45. [2016-03-02 13:43:16] * Noble_Heart regards the chaos spirit curiously. "Enjoying the show?" She looked back towards the lake more than a touch nervously.
  46. [2016-03-02 13:48:14] * Get_Lost takes a look at the draconequus, having no eyes itt is hard to read her expression "say... have you ever been the drumer in a two ponies band?"
  47. [2016-03-02 13:50:16] * CopyCat plops her rump down on the deck, looking over the railing beside the little chaos spirit. "I wonder what they'll find in there," she asks idly, before realising something of the utmost importance. "Oh dear," she says aloud, "we've been such terrible hosts. Mr Chaos Spirit, sir. I don't believe we've asked you your name?"
  48. [2016-03-02 13:52:08] * Bookwright chews a foldover. "Hmm, oversweet. Oh well, I guess that's the nature of durians."
  49. [2016-03-02 13:58:50] <Kkat> 3The draconequus puts on sunglasses just so he can stare over them at Noble_Heart. In a droll voice, "Actually, I'm bored out of my skull." He lifts his drink, which is now held in a skull, and sips from it.
  50. [2016-03-02 14:00:12] <Kkat> 3He leans back and sighs. "The first act is over. Now we're in that annoyingly long intermission before the second act."
  51. [2016-03-02 14:00:54] * Noble_Heart frowns and nods her head. "We admit, the lack of action is somehow even more distrubing than disaster would be. At least disaster might be expected."
  52. [2016-03-02 14:01:02] * CopyCat suggests, "We could go to the lobby."
  53. [2016-03-02 14:01:41] * Golden_Dream huffs as she leaves the kitchen. Dragons fed. Durian foldovers made and gift wrapped for sweetiepookins. FINALLY. SHE CAN LEAVE THE KITCHEN. She rubs the back of her mane. "They ain't back yet, are they?" She noted as she joins Noble, wax-paper packages in her teeth.
  54. [2016-03-02 14:01:42] <Kkat> 3Looking to Noble_Heart, he waves a paw. "I know we need to give them time, but haven't you ever wanted to yell at the stage, 'Get on with it!' ?" He sighs. "I just hoped they don't take too long. The rent on this theatre can get steep."
  55. [2016-03-02 14:03:57] * Noble_Heart shakes her head. "They appear to be taking their time." She chuckles slightly at the chaos spirit's annoyance. "Perhaps they are doing their immitation of a photographer? Awaiting just the right moment before the real disaster strikes."
  56. [2016-03-02 14:05:17] * Golden_Dream folds their legs. "They need t' hurry up if they ain't dead. Th' lake'll fuckin' drain out here soon."
  57. [2016-03-02 14:06:22] <Kkat> 3He then turns to CopyCat, wide-eyed. "Why no. You haven't. You can call me Pan," he claims. "It's short for Pandemonuim. But that can be a mouthful." He illustrates by manifesting the name then eating it, his cheeks buldging like a squirrel's full of acorns.
  58. [2016-03-02 14:06:56] * Bookwright whistles a disconcertingly cheery tune. "They'll probably be fine."
  59. [2016-03-02 14:07:28] * Golden_Dream stares at the lake. "If they was fine, they'd be back by now."
  60. [2016-03-02 14:09:02] * Get_Lost "maybe they are exploring?" offers
  61. [2016-03-02 14:10:40] * CopyCat tilts her head at Pan, then chuckles. "Why Mr. Pan, I don't believe I've ever met someone before who could actually /eat/ their own words."
  62. [2016-03-02 14:12:48] <Kkat> 3Pan's teeth cruch, and he spits out a bent 'm'.
  63. [2016-03-02 14:12:52] * Mitzi sits and scratches at her ear with a hind paw. Doing so with a foreleg would just be silly
  64. [2016-03-02 14:14:00] * Golden_Dream grumbles. "... We gotta go save them, don't we?"
  65. [2016-03-02 14:15:28] * Noble_Heart frowns. "We hope not. But it may come to that."
  66. [2016-03-02 14:15:50] <Kkat> 3Pan then looks up at Get_Lost. "What? Those two? Oh, it's been over for them for ages. We're just waiting on..." At Golden_Dream's words, he facepaws. "...Of course you would. You ponies all have a hero complex."
  67. [2016-03-02 14:16:45] * Golden_Dream cranes her neck. "Naw. We're jus' kinda suicidal."
  68. [2016-03-02 14:21:03] * Golden_Dream makes a brief gesture upon realizing that can be taken the wrong way. "I mean, us ponies what're here. Not th' ones back home. They got their heads on straight, maybe."
  69. [2016-03-02 14:22:53] * Get_Lost smiles "i could try something, i'm not completely sure that ponies can't go submersible."
  70. [2016-03-02 14:24:13] * Mitzi chimes in. "Uh cun swim."
  71. [2016-03-02 14:25:05] * Shatara fidgets uncomfortably at the idea of it being 'over' for them.
  72. [2016-03-02 14:32:59] * CopyCat smiles. "Mr. Pan, you say that as if our propensity for throwing ourselves into adventure were a bad thing. Surely this would be more interesting to watch?"
  73. [2016-03-02 14:33:17] * Golden_Dream furrows her brows. "D'ya mean that it's over f'r them in th' sense that they're dead, or that they're just not relevant to what we're doin' anymore?"
  74. [2016-03-02 14:35:39] <Kkat> 3Pan nods to Golden_Dream.
  75. [2016-03-02 14:35:42] * Get_Lost "yes but can you hold your breath for up to ten minutes, or know your fencing mockeries properly?"

  77. [2016-03-02 14:37:03] <Kkat> 3Pan waves his talons in the direction of the rest of the pirate fleet. "The question is, how long before any of /them/ decide to be heroic. Or, you know, pirates who want their treasure back."
  78. [2016-03-02 14:37:17] * Noble_Heart frowns and furrows her brow. "We suspect Our original estimation may have been correct. And not in a way We are pleased about..."
  79. [2016-03-02 14:40:35] * Golden_Dream bites her lower lip. "... You didn't answer me. Y' jus' kinda nodded. Was it both?"
  80. [2016-03-02 14:41:41] * Noble_Heart looks down to Golden_Dream, "We suspect the portal has opened to the lands of the dead. Or spirits. Or perhaps both. Though We admit that is only a guess."
  81. [2016-03-02 14:42:52] * Get_Lost since nopony really tells her not to, she peaves the ship and starts going from pirate ship to pirate ship, begging for components. mostly, cheap or broken parts
  82. [2016-03-02 14:43:52] * Bookwright stares out over the rippling lake. Magic lashes from his horn into the air.
  83. [2016-03-02 15:00:36] <Kkat> 3Pan watches Bookwright.
  84. [2016-03-02 15:01:26] * Golden_Dream puffs out her cheeks. "You know, gettin' answers from y' is sometimes /rather/ infuriatin'."
  85. [2016-03-02 15:05:04] <Kkat> 3Pan appears in Golden_Dream's mane. "I know," he preens. "Isn't it /just/?"
  86. [2016-03-02 15:07:54] <Kkat> 3Bookwright's magic senses the portal deep below. It is quite powerful magic, but nothing overwhelming. There are tiny specks of magic that don't seem to be associated with it, but are also few and extremely weak. Magical fish, perhaps, or undersea flora?
  87. [2016-03-02 15:09:25] * Get_Lost noticing that begging doesn't work, retires trying to find a better strategy
  88. [2016-03-02 15:09:53] * Bookwright "Hmm, that's curious. Would have been good to know if there were magical fish in the lake before the portal opened, but no way to tell now... probably."
  89. [2016-03-02 15:11:10] <Kkat> 3He cannot help but notice that despite hours passing now, the lake hasn't noticeably changed. Clearly there was no need to worry about the portal opening into a volcano. If lava had started pouring through, they would have noticed it. Likewise, if the portal had opened into anyplace open, shouldn't the lake have started to drain?
  90. [2016-03-02 15:12:09] * Bookwright releases the detect magic spell. "Well, there's definitely a portal down there. And a few tiny, tiny bits of magic down there besides. And it's not draining. I think there's a good chance that the other side of the portal is also underwater."
  91. [2016-03-02 15:13:06] * Bookwright "Anyone here got a fishing pole? If we catch one of the fish down there we might find out more."
  92. [2016-03-02 15:13:56] * Golden_Dream 's puffy cheeks intensify. "Shatara, this is more your schtick. How d' you catch fish?"
  93. [2016-03-02 15:15:32] * Shatara blinks and tilts his head. "Uh, stab it with something sharp, I guess?" He wiggles his talons a bit.
  94. [2016-03-02 15:16:21] * Get_Lost asks the others "hey, can someone go to the pirates and haggle for this list of things please?"
  95. [2016-03-02 15:16:32] * Get_Lost offers a list
  96. [2016-03-02 15:16:43] * Golden_Dream takes the list. "Help Shatara go fishin' and gimme yer' caps."
  97. [2016-03-02 15:17:58] * CopyCat bows a goodbye to Pan (on top of Golden_Dream's head) and nods to Get_Lost. "I'll be happy to help. It might go better if we try to haggle in a language they speak."
  98. [2016-03-02 15:18:54] * CopyCat then pauses as Golden_Dream goes with. "And it will go even /better/ with Goldy there to do the actual haggling and bad-cop routine!"
  99. [2016-03-02 15:19:21] * Get_Lost has 14 caps, wants a lot of stuff
  100. [2016-03-02 15:19:52] * Get_Lost explains "i think i can make scuba suits with those things... we can go and help the guys"
  101. [2016-03-02 15:26:59] * Shatara glides down to the surface of the lake, poking his spear experimentally at the surface as he watches for something fishy to come into striking distance.
  102. [2016-03-02 15:31:01] * CopyCat taps Get_Lost on the shoulder after yet another failed begging attempt. "You do know I can make us breath underwater, yes?"

  105. [2016-03-02 15:36:16] * CopyCat smiles and clops her hooves together. "Yay!" she looks down sheepishly. "I didn't say anything earlier because you looked like you were having so much fun designing underwater breathing gear for us out of random scrap and duct tape..."
  106. [2016-03-02 15:36:53] * CopyCat then adds to Get_Lost, "Could you make anything that would help us swim down there?"
  107. [2016-03-02 15:37:30] * Get_Lost i think i could?
  108. [2016-03-02 15:37:41] * Mitzi is still currently without arms or armor beyond her hide and claws. She looks at Get_Lost's 14 caps and tilts her head

  110. [2016-03-02 15:39:05] * Golden_Dream pouts a bit at her 14 caps. "... I'll see what I can do."
  111. [2016-03-02 15:40:10] * Get_Lost offers her 14 caps to the cause, whatever it is, then goes inside the ship and looks for something to make fins
  112. [2016-03-02 15:42:05] * Golden_Dream goes looking for... Whatever will make her motorcycle fly or patch up the rad suits, she guesses! Copycat's got this one.
  113. [2016-03-02 15:45:40] * Get_Lost cannibalizes the leather armor sh never used and makes fins for everypony!
  114. [2016-03-02 16:08:30] <Kkat> 3Golden_Dream and CopyCat have a much easier time bartering for the parts that Get_Lost needs to build underwater gear. While moving amongst the other pirate ships, CopyCat catches bits of discussion. The pirates are growing concerned. Many, it seems, have already written off Jugeote and Kifaa. But the Griffin's Goblet is still down there!

  116. [2016-03-02 16:15:00] * Golden_Dream snorts. Man, she loves when people treat a thing with more respect than an actual person.
  117. [2016-03-02 16:15:07] * CopyCat knows just the ponies (and griffin) for the job! And they'll be happy to do it, with only the donation of good quality materials... also food. As partial payment for bringing back the Griffin's Goblet CopyCat requests large quantities of Baby-Dragon-Suitable food to be given when they return. She suggests that spare members of the various pirate crews could forage the surrounding area while they wait.
  118. [2016-03-02 16:20:17] <Kkat> 3The bartering goes well until CopyCat mentions the Goblet.
  119. [2016-03-02 16:20:49] * Bookwright is watching Shatara fish. Shatara looks really cool diving and stabbing, but Bookwright isn't sure if he's actually caught anything yet.
  120. [2016-03-02 16:21:03] <Kkat> 3Minutes later, Golden_Dream and CopyCat find themselves aboard the /Skullcrusher/, listening to an argument between the pirate captains.
  121. [2016-03-02 16:21:38] <Kkat> 3Several of them yell at CopyCat. More of them yell at each other. There is a lot of yelling.
  122. [2016-03-02 16:22:19] * CopyCat sighs, happily. "Ahh, nostalgia."
  123. [2016-03-02 16:22:54] <Kkat> 3The upshot is that they don't want anyone else going down there because they don't want anyone else making off with their Goblet. Despite everything, they don't trust the strangers from Equestria to return it once they get it.
  124. [2016-03-02 16:24:04] <Kkat> 3The Captain of the /Cutlass/ offers to send an escort. And everything devolves from there as it is clear none of these pirates trust each other to not run off with the Goblet either.
  125. [2016-03-02 16:27:25] * Bookwright cocks an ear. Is that a shouting match he hears coming from the pirate ships? Hopefully CopyCat is okay.
  126. [2016-03-02 16:28:32] * Shatara isn't quite sure if he's doin this fishing thing rite, but he keeps at it.
  127. [2016-03-02 16:32:31] * CopyCat eh-hm's. "You do recall that it was Us who brought the Goblet to you in the first place, no?"
  128. [2016-03-02 16:34:30] * CopyCat did not expect this to work, but she was oddly enjoying being the centre of attention. Even if that attention was yelling-based.
  129. [2016-03-02 16:35:25] <Kkat> 3Shatara jabs his spear at a fish as it draws close to the surface. The fish reacts, darting, then turning and opening its mouth to reveal rows upon rows of sharp, metallic teeth. The fish bites down on the spear and tries to swim off with it.
  130. [2016-03-02 16:38:43] <Kkat> 3In a brilliant flash, Pan appears on the table amidst all the quarreling zebra captains, taking on the size of a full draconequus to tower over everyone. "Oh for Chaos' sake!" he roars. He has to bend his body, his horns still scraping the roof of the cabin.
  131. [2016-03-02 16:41:43] <Kkat> 3Pan glares at the captains, his face full of displeased smiles. "I've got an idea! Why don't you, you, you..." he starts pointing at the Captain of each of the six most powerful pirate families, "...you, you, (and I guess) you each pick someone you trust from your crew and send them /with/ these ponies to go fetch your pretty, precious cup!?"
  132. [2016-03-02 16:43:39] * Shatara yelps and flails his wings to try and steady himself. "No, NO!" His talons slipping, he desperately draws his pistol and tries to shoot the fish off his spear.
  133. [2016-03-02 16:44:44] <Kkat> 3"That way, nostripe can steal it from anystripe!" CopyCat realizes, bizarrely, that she is hearing the chaos spirit speak in every language she knows simultaneously. Golden_Dream, meanwhile, is only hearing it in Equestrian. "Okay? Good!..."
  134. [2016-03-02 16:46:59] <Kkat> 3Between the surprise and the fish's uncanny strength, Shatara feels the spear pulled from his grasp.
  135. [2016-03-02 16:47:40] <Kkat> 3Pan snaps his fingers. It is like the sound of thunder.
  136. [2016-03-02 16:49:19] * Golden_Dream blinks. "Shit, he has a point."
  137. [2016-03-02 16:49:30] * CopyCat claps her hooves together. It is like the sound of tapping two half-coconut shells against each other.
  138. [2016-03-02 16:50:24] <Kkat> 3Shatara fills the water with led, shredding the fish into bloody chucks.
  139. [2016-03-02 16:50:29] <Kkat> 3The /Skullcrusher/ pirate airship is instantly transformed into the /Skullcrusher/ submarine. The now-detached balloons begin to float upwards as the ship begins to fall.
  140. [2016-03-02 16:50:51] <Kkat> 3Pan roars, "NOW GET ON WITH IT!" and vanishes in another flash.
  141. [2016-03-02 16:51:40] * Bookwright "Wow. Um. Oh my."
  142. [2016-03-02 16:51:50] <CopyCat> "So," CopyCat says to the room of very temporarily stunned silent captains. "Shall we?"
  143. [2016-03-02 16:51:50] <Kkat> 3Aura Secunda starts to sink into the lake. Then abruptly flies out of it and back into Shatara's free claws.
  144. [2016-03-02 16:52:06] * Bookwright has his attention torn between shatara shooting a lot at the surface of the lake and the sudden change in the Skullcrusher.
  145. [2016-03-02 16:52:12] <Kkat> 3A shadow falls over Shatara.
  146. [2016-03-02 16:53:41] * Shatara blinkblinks as the spear pops back into his talons. He barely has time to look at it puzzledly before the strange shadow falls. He looks up towards what could be above him, squawks in alarm, and flies very very fast in a horizontal fashion.
  147. [2016-03-02 16:53:42] <Kkat> 3The shadow passes, as the /Skullcrusher/ belly-flops into the lake a few yards away, sending a waves of water at the catbird.
  148. [2016-03-02 16:54:11] <Kkat> 3The catbird is not there when the wave hits the shore and splashes down.
  149. [2016-03-02 16:58:50] * Shatara waits for the waters to settle before investigating the newly minted subairboat the second.
  150. [2016-03-02 17:00:18] <Kkat> 3CopyCat catches herself (aren't wings helpful) before the ship hits, but Golden_Dream is thrown, and hard. Fortunately, that wall display of shields is there to catch her. Unfortunately, one of those shields is spiked.

Aside from Golden_Dream, the one taking it the worst is the Captain of the /Skullcrusher/, who is currently bellowing for Pan to be hunted down, dragged back, and made to fix his ship.
