  5. [2013-04-24 13:13:58] <Kkat> 3The story is of a secret and brave defender of the zebras who only makes herself known to very, very good little colts and fillies. But who helps protect everyzebra from the evilmeanbad Heartless.
  6. [2013-04-24 13:14:05] <Kkat> 3The secret defender is purple and black and totally invisible, especially to adults. If you see her, you'll know her because she has a big floppy hat that's really cool. And she's wearing a mask because she doesn't want any of the bad guys to know she's a zebra.

She's the one that makes the hoof weapons of the Heartless sometimes explode. If one explodes, you know she's there keeping an eye out for you!

  17. [2013-04-24 13:21:31] * Noble_Heart frowns a little, looking towards the building she had been indicated earlier when asking about protection. "We wish to explore this place. There must be some means to determine friend from foe for these turrets, lest they shoot the guards which might be assigned this place. If We can find it, these Zebras can come and go safely."
  18. [2013-04-24 13:23:45] * Get_Lost "i'm not sure... if we want the turrets to defend the zebras from the invaders i don't think that just prressing a couple of buttons will work.... we need to completely rewrite the code..."
  19. [2013-04-24 13:24:02] * CopyCat was being her usual privacy-respecting self and tries to relate the story that Bookie had heard to the rest of the group, since Bookwright himself was busy concentrating.

  22. [2013-04-24 13:28:53] * Get_Lost watches the movie of the mistery mare in her own brain-o-vision "well, it seems to me like some sort of very imaginative mind these zebra foals have. they are lovely"

  24. [2013-04-24 13:31:29] * Noble_Heart frowns, "It is possible, We suppose. But, there must be some way for the guards to get in and out safely. And to bring in new prisoners. If such is not as simple as changing target parameters, then surely there must be some form of identification which would prevent the turrets from attack. Much as We used the broach to halt the robot beyond the walls."

[2013-04-24 13:34:28] * Get_Lost "well this is just a theory, but if i was in charge of programming the turrets, i'd program them in a way that only if you are wearing some sort of guard pass you aren't shot... if we want the turrets to let zebra pass and shoot robots and berserker crystal ponies, we will need to make the turrets understand who is a friend and who is a enemy anew, or put some sort of verbal passcode, if possible"

  33. [2013-04-24 13:39:40] * Kid raises an eyebrow. "Things like that, they'd want t' keep in house. Y'think that there's passes out near the back over there?"
  34. [2013-04-24 13:42:12] * Bookwright "There's gotta be guard passes somewhere around here."
  35. [2013-04-24 13:43:51] * Get_Lost "sure, but the question is: there wil lbe enough? what if they lose them of if they need more than those they have? i'd rather find a better way to interact with the turrets. it's safer on the long term"
  36. [2013-04-24 13:44:09] * Bookwright works a crick out of his neck, "I suppose I could try to locate them with a spell, but let's give the old mark one eyeball a shot first."
  37. [2013-04-24 13:45:32] * Kid stares at Get_Lost. "In the long term, they either get some help from some folk that do some woojoo on that turret 'r they can jus' leave an' plant down roots in a place a bit more hospitable."

She frowns and begins to move in the direction of the building she'd been indicated. "The zebras here pointed me towards this building when I asked about protection from the turrets. So We suppose it is as good a place

  45. [2013-04-24 13:49:37] * Bookwright "My father taught me that gentlestallions always let ladies go first, so to you, Noble Heart, I say lead the way."

  50. [2013-04-24 13:57:49] <Kkat> 3Across the sky, the voice of Professor Paladin booms, "SOON, MY ARMY WILL INFILTRATE YOUR TOWER, DOCTOR AMORE! AND YOU SHALL BE DEFEATED! ANY MINUTE NOW. YES, ANY MINUTE..." The zebras barely seem to notice.
  51. [2013-04-24 14:03:12] * Kid 's ears flatten. After the message was done, her right ear twitched, brows furrowed. She was getting tired of this shit. "Ah, shaddup!" She yelled out to... Somepony who wasn't even listening. She immediately felt silly.
  52. [2013-04-24 14:03:41] <Kkat> 3At the northern edge of the camp is a solid structure. Part of the structure is a guard post for the camp's northern gate. The rest of it? According to the sign above the door: Therapy.
  53. [2013-04-24 14:05:26] * Noble_Heart frowns and furrows her brow. That was... A touch worrying. For now she would head for the guard post. Therapy could wait. For now.

  56. [2013-04-24 14:08:55] <Kkat> 3The guard post extends through the fence, with the intended entrance on the other side. However, the windows or armored glass and metal mesh were broken in several places. Enough for a pony to crawl through, although not yet large enough for hellhound or alicorn.

  58. [2013-04-24 14:10:43] * Bookwright genuflects, indicating the already damaged metal mesh. "Mitzi, I think this is your department."
  59. [2013-04-24 14:11:21] * Mitzi sighs and steps forward, looking to break the rest of the way in. Seemed to be her special talent, or would be if she was a pony.
  60. [2013-04-24 14:11:23] * CopyCat tries to sound hopeful. "You never know, therapy might be a nice place." She eyes the openings, then looks at herself selfconciously. "I... don't think I'll fit."
  61. [2013-04-24 14:11:56] * Noble_Heart frowns and furrows her brow. "We will not fit either. Though We can still teleport in just fine." She snorts. "But it would be best if We did not have to waste Our efforts."

  63. [2013-04-24 14:13:19] * Kid just smiles at Bookwright. "Nothin' wrong with the former. Even Lil'Pip used a gun she looted all the damn time." She proceeded to look at the holes in the armored glass, then tried to serious up. "I'll go in first. If they start gettin' funny on me, I'm th' most likely t' be able t' get back quicker." Because the holes were pretty big to her.
  64. [2013-04-24 14:15:59] * Noble_Heart frowns. "We do not feel right letting you go alone. We shall accompany you. We can teleport back if necessary."
  65. [2013-04-24 14:17:09] * Kid attempted to squirm in through a dug-in ditch near the bottom. "Aw, it ain't nothin'. I ever tell ya'll th' time I near snuck int' Miss'r Ball's hen coop t' get some eggs?"
  66. [2013-04-24 14:17:41] <Kkat> 3Mtizi easily tears away glass and mesh, making the hole large enough for everyone to easily climb into the guard post.

  68. [2013-04-24 14:18:28] * Noble_Heart moves forwards, climbing up into the window to take a look around. She didn't want to leave Kid alone.

  73. [2013-04-24 14:23:12] <Kkat> 3The interior of the guard post is weathered and thoroughly rummaged through. The desk's drawers are open and empty, as is the weapon's locker. A few empty bottles and scattered bottlecaps lay in and about the waste basket. A faded Sparkle~Cola calendar hangs on the wall. Apparently, "Miss Summer Solstice" was rather fetching...

  103. [2013-04-24 14:35:24] * Bookwright "You know, it occurs to me that right now would be an excellent time to go disable the anti-air turret until we can figure out a way for it to not shoot at us."

  109. [2013-04-24 14:38:39] * Noble_Heart nods her head. "We shall." She moved to climb back out of the building, spreading her wings to head for the roof, towards the Anti-Aircraft mount as quick as she could.

  123. [2013-04-24 14:58:59] * Kid blinks. And then panics. Oh Celestia! There's going to be fire everywhere! "EVERYPONY GET DOWN NOW!"
  124. [2013-04-24 14:59:44] * CopyCat turns to Noble_Heart, wide eyed. "Watch out, raise your shield! Shatara, get behind me!" Telepathic eavesdropping could be useful now and then.
  125. [2013-04-24 15:00:27] * Noble_Heart blinked but didn't hesitate, her horn glowing as her shield shimmered into existence around her. If her sister said danger, that meant danger. No questions asked.

  130. [2013-04-24 15:06:21] <Kkat> 3Both CopyCat and Shatara notice as the turrets begin to move, initially turning to aim at a focused point just off the road to the northern camp gate. But they quickly seem to latch onto the flying trio, turning their weapons towards them instead.
  131. [2013-04-24 15:07:35] <Kkat> 3Noble_Heart does not notice this, as she is distracted by the sight of a couple of Heartless crouched down and working their way towards the camp. One is wearing a glowing-red solaris hoof. The other, a large stick with crystals embedded in it.
  132. [2013-04-24 15:08:13] * Noble_Heart frowns, her shield already up she turned to the side and dove towards the heartless. "Heartless! They seek to attack while the Zebra's defenses are down! We shall not allow it!"

  147. [2013-04-24 15:13:50] * Noble_Heart didn't pull up from her dive. "We shall not allow the zebra to come to harm." She makes a pass over the heartless, her horn glowing as lightning cracked through the sky down at them, aiming for the one with that glowing powerhoof.
  148. [2013-04-24 15:13:53] * Get_Lost sighs and lower her head "i think i blocked it...."
  149. [2013-04-24 15:13:59] * CopyCat keeps her bubble shield around them both, ready for the impending zappy death lasers of doom!

  152. [2013-04-24 15:14:27] <Kkat> 3The terminal shuts down.
  153. [2013-04-24 15:14:53] * Shatara opens one eye and looks around with it, his wings still wrapped around CopyCat. "No death beams of death?"
  154. [2013-04-24 15:14:56] * Kid blinks and peeks out from underneath that desk. "What jus' happened?"
  155. [2013-04-24 15:15:23] * Bookwright shakes his head slowly, "Get Lost here just saved their bacon. Well done, Get."
  156. [2013-04-24 15:15:51] * Get_Lost "just.... i'm not sure what will happen when the terminal will go online again... i'll try running an internal diagnostic" the mare pauses "i think we can fix it accessing the bios"
  157. [2013-04-24 15:15:52] * CopyCat nods slowly. "I... think Get_Lost just saved us. But we've got to help Noble Heart!"
  158. [2013-04-24 15:16:26] * Bookwright "Unfortunately, I think the turrets are inactive right now."
  159. [2013-04-24 15:16:31] * Kid nods. "Huh. Alright. Sure. Can ya'll program th' things t' work again?"
  160. [2013-04-24 15:18:00] * Shatara opens both eyes, realizing he's wrapped around CopyCat. He backs away and nervously brushes himself off. "Err...r-right..."
  161. [2013-04-24 15:18:48] * Get_Lost "better inactive than hostile, i guess...."
  162. [2013-04-24 15:19:56] * Bookwright "I dunno, they were protecting the camp from the... Heartless. Why haven't Noble Heart and Copy-Cat come back yet?"
  163. [2013-04-24 15:26:25] * Get_Lost "if we can reboot the terminal i'll try putting on a setting that will ignore the zebras and count crystal ponies as hostiles, i guess..."
  164. [2013-04-24 15:30:42] <Kkat> 3As one of them is struck by lightning, doing measurable harm, the two Heartless respond surprisingly quickly. Both use their tails to reach into saddlebags, producing some sort of homemade grenades, which they lob at their attacker.
  165. [2013-04-24 15:54:49] <Kkat> 3The twin explosions rip through the air, alerting everyone nearby -- friend and foe alike -- to the battle.
  166. [2013-04-24 15:57:48] * Bookwright jumps outside through the Mitzi-Hole and looks for the source of the sound.
  167. [2013-04-24 15:58:18] * CopyCat gasps as the explosions buffet her in the air, and is very thankful for the shield around herself and Shatara. Strangely, she doesn't feel as much pain as she should. "Stay within the shield, I'll try to make a hole for you to shoot through."
  168. [2013-04-24 16:01:47] * Noble_Heart was clearly not expecting such a dramatic reaction. The alicorn reeled in the air from the detonations, swaying side to side as they rocked through her shield and left rather painful looking cuts and burns on her hide. But even that did nothing to dissuade her. She spiraled through the air heading lower as her horn glowed again, this time the result was different though.
  169. [2013-04-24 16:01:48] * Noble_Heart instead of a crack of lightning, it was a rapid discharge of brilliantly colored beams of energy, raining down on the one who had the glowing powerfist.

  171. [2013-04-24 16:02:52] * Get_Lost hears the explosions and frowns "something's wrong" prepares a potion and follows bookie
  172. [2013-04-24 16:04:03] * Kid 's ears perk up and a snap reflex comes to her hooves. Now, her friends know this, but her brain works a little different than most. Usually, it takes a little while for a pony to void the confusion from their mind as they try to understand what's going on, first, perhaps wisely. But Kid's brain doesn't work like that. When it detects a threat, the fight or fight reflex immediately kicks on...
  173. [2013-04-24 16:04:04] * Kid ...and everything slips onto the wayside, no hesitation, no moment of confusion. So, understandably, whenever there was a sign of a gunfight going on, she wasn't there to comment to. She was already leaping through the Mitzi hole.
  174. [2013-04-24 16:12:56] * CopyCat concentrates hard and opens a hole in her shield for Shatara and herself to fire through. With her small revolver drawn, she shoots once or twice at the Heartless with the glowing hoof.
  175. [2013-04-24 16:23:27] * CopyCat finds making a hole much too difficult, so she drops her shield instead, ready to recast after Shatara had taken his shots.
  176. [2013-04-24 16:28:33] * Shatara takes the opportunity, his perception of time slowing as he lines up his rifle. He coolly squeezes off three rounds, watching the bullets impact the crystalpones in slow-motion.
  177. [2013-04-24 16:34:06] <Kkat> 3CopyCat fires a shot at the Heartless with the supercharged Solaris Hoof, followed immediately by a rain of bullets from Shatara into the same crystal raider. The pony shatters, collapsing in pieces.
  178. [2013-04-24 16:34:54] <Kkat> 3The remaining Heartless sees her companion fall, and turns to run, dropping her crystal nailboard in the process.
  179. [2013-04-24 16:35:19] * CopyCat cheers and raises her shield. "Great job Shatara! Hopefully those other two are out of grenades."
  180. [2013-04-24 16:39:25] * Kid doesn't let up. She's gone into something of a controlled frenzy and attempts to get close enough to throw some blasts that thing's way.
  181. [2013-04-24 16:55:44] <Kkat> 3An authoritative (if mechanical) voice calls out: "Enemy combatants detected! All innocent ponies, please leave the area immediately. This is a hot zone." Followed by, "Eat green plasma death, you traitorous scum!" as one of the security robots hovers around the corner, drawn by the explosions and gunfire.
  182. [2013-04-24 16:56:42] * CopyCat gasps as she suddenly notices something about herself, Noble_Heart, and Shatara. "We're on fire!"
  183. [2013-04-24 16:58:46] * Shatara turns to look at CopyCat. "Huh?" He suddenly notices the flames licking from her body, and looks back and sees the same on his own wings. "GAAAH!"
  184. [2013-04-24 17:04:34] * Bookwright sprints around the corner and skids to a stop. "I'm not late for the party, am I?"
  185. [2013-04-24 17:04:57] * Bookwright squeezes off a shot at the security robot with Pew Pew.
  186. [2013-04-24 17:48:32] * Noble_Heart had been rattled worse than she thought by the explosions, her magic popping and fizzling as she tried to cast. A momentary shaking to clear her mind as she focused on the new voice of the attacking robot. That was doubtless problematic as she swooped down with the broach in full view. "Halt! The perpetrator of these attacks is fleeing at this moment! These ponies are here
  187. [2013-04-24 17:48:32] * Noble_Heart on official business. And you will cease your hostilities and return to your regular patrol pattern!"
  188. [2013-04-24 18:16:16] <Kkat> 3The robot pauses a moment. There is internal whirring. Then it lowers it's weapons and moves back towards it's normal patrol.
  189. [2013-04-24 18:24:02] * Noble_Heart snorts. "We shall not deprive the Zebras of their protection this day."
  190. [2013-04-24 18:26:30] * Bookwright puts away his weapon. "I suppose not. Oh well, better luck next time."
  191. [2013-04-24 18:28:04] * CopyCat lowers her shield and decends rapidly, trying to smother the flames licking at Shatara as she decends.
  192. [2013-04-24 18:28:36] <Kkat> 3Copycat is able to put out the flames on Shatara.
  193. [2013-04-24 18:29:30] * Shatara returns the favor, beating the flames on CopyCat out with his wings.
  194. [2013-04-24 18:34:19] * Bookwright wrinkles his nose. Burning feathers and fur is incredibly nasty smelling.
  195. [2013-04-24 18:34:36] * CopyCat thanks Shatara, then tries to catch Noble_Heart's attention. "Noble, the Heartless' attacks have left you on fire! Decend and we can help!" How the other alicorn hadn't noticed yet was a mystery.
  196. [2013-04-24 18:35:17] * Noble_Heart dropped to the ground, dropping her shield a moment later. She blinked in confusion. "It has?" She glanced back across her own form to spot the flames. "Oh. Dear."
  197. [2013-04-24 18:36:12] * Bookwright "How do you ponies not notice when you're on fire? You'd think the flames, searing heat, major pain, and incredible stench of burning feathers and/or fur would give you a hint!"
  198. [2013-04-24 18:39:18] * Noble_Heart beat her wings in an effort to get herself smothered. "We were too taken by the explosions, ringing in Our ears and the chaos of trying to stop Our friends from being harmed."
  199. [2013-04-24 18:40:40] * Bookwright "Would you like me to cast pain relief on thy noble bod?"
  200. [2013-04-24 18:42:58] * Noble_Heart frowns and contemplates that. "We could use medical attention. Those explosions were stronger than We anticipated Our enemies having access to."
  201. [2013-04-24 18:43:46] * Bookwright "Right, alright. Hold still please."
  202. [2013-04-24 18:44:49] * Bookwright coats Noble_Heart in an amber glow of healing.
  203. [2013-04-24 18:47:15] <Kkat> 3The fleeing Heartless flees into the ruins of the village beyond.
  204. [2013-04-24 18:47:48] * Kid keeps chasing. Oh no she isn't.
  205. [2013-04-24 18:48:20] * Bookwright "How about you, Shatara? Want some healing, or maybe some pain relief?"
  206. [2013-04-24 18:48:33] * Noble_Heart looks up as Kid begins rushing after. "Kid! You should remain here! The village may have further heartless in it waiting for others to incroach!"
  207. [2013-04-24 18:48:58] * Shatara looks back at his singed feathers. "Yeah, sure..."
  208. [2013-04-24 18:49:17] * CopyCat nods at Bookwright. "Oh yes please, I'll take two with a glass of lemonade."
  209. [2013-04-24 18:49:30] * Kid huffs. No. Nonono. This is going to stop and now.
  210. [2013-04-24 18:50:28] * Noble_Heart frowned. "We will return." She spread her wings to persue after Kid. Flamingor not she was not going to f- No. Not going to go back on her word. She would help Kid.
  211. [2013-04-24 18:51:23] * Bookwright focuses. Healing for all!
  212. [2013-04-24 18:51:45] * Shatara acks as Noble_Heart dashes off, barely waiting for the heal before taking off after.
  213. [2013-04-24 18:51:52] <Kkat> 3Kid dashes into the ruins. The Heartless seems to have disappeared amongst the rubble. What was a chase has become a job of tracking.
  214. [2013-04-24 18:53:25] * CopyCat grins as the healing washes over her, swaying on her hooves. "Thanks Bookwright."
  215. [2013-04-24 18:53:57] <Kkat> 3Kid's prey is good at hiding in the ruins... but not so good at covering her tracks. After a false start, Kid has picked up the trail.
  216. [2013-04-24 18:55:33] <Kkat> 3Kid stops in half of a living room, looking about. The tracks just stop. She had to have been right here just a minute or two ago!
  217. [2013-04-24 18:57:40] * Kid looks around frantically. No. Not going to come back with an empty saddle. She's got to be here somewhere.
  218. [2013-04-24 18:57:52] <Kkat> 3After a bit of searching, trying to pick up the trail again, Kid finds a set of doors on the ground, probably leading to a cellar.
  219. [2013-04-24 18:59:24] <Kkat> 3The doors are made of crystal (like everything else), and are locked.
  220. [2013-04-24 19:00:33] * Kid blinks. Cellar. Cellar! Aha! This is where she must be hiding! This is... She took a moment to think this over. This was a trap if she's ever seen one. She paused, collected herself... And then decided that the best way to deal with a trap was to spring it without them knowing that you knew it was one. And after trying in vain to open it, decided that maybe backup was the best way to hit this.
