  1. (00:55:14)<Camtist>Hallo
  2. (00:55:22)<Halinn>Yo
  3. (00:55:53)<Camtist>Aight, we're gonna use $pc to gen your char real quick.
  4. (00:56:15)<Halinn>$pc
  5. (00:56:15)<[ATM]>[Blaster] [Type] Goop - creates, throws globs of mushy weird crap.
  6. (00:56:18)<[ATM]>[Blaster] [Mechanism] Omen - applies poison (targets in area suffer appropriate stat drain - Brawn/Ath/Dex/Wits/Know) in an AoE, then damage is applied to those still in AoE at start of next round.
  7. (00:56:18)<[ATM]>[Blaster] [Shot Type] Shotgun - reduced range, (larger) AoE.
  8. (00:57:10)<Camtist>Ok, so you spray sticky poisonous goop all around you
  9. (00:57:28)<Halinn>I thought more like a wide cone
  10. (00:57:46)<Camtist>It's a cone, I'm just paraphrasing
  11. (00:58:30)<Camtist>I have a feeling it's gonna get everywhere
  12. (00:58:52)<Halinn>Yep
  13. (00:59:30)<Camtist>Btw, I'm gonna be winging a lot of your session off the top of my head. Feel free to point out if there's any discrepancies in what I say. I might also be a little rusty, so sorry if anything gets weird
  14. (00:59:37)* Halinn nods
  15. (00:59:46)<Halinn>I'm gonna go with Toxin as a cape name
  16. (01:00:54)<Camtist>Ok. I'm gonna link you a char sheet. Just put your name, any stat changes, and whatever else you want there. Shouldn't take too long, but it's convenient for dialouge ideas and tracking wounds
  17. (01:01:18)<Halinn|Toxin>Sure
  18. (01:01:48)<Camtist>https://docs.google.com/document/d/15peMSA3fdp9EK9urwvYps4Q0z06EQ6iJdVggD81a2bg/edit
  19. (01:02:03)<Camtist>You'll need to make a copy of it in order to edit it
  20. (01:02:54)<Camtist>After you're done, just send me an editing link as well so that I can change your wound slots around. Take your time, this part can be pretty fun, and getting carried away is encouraged
  21. (01:05:23)<Camtist>There is one thing I'd like to know now though, just to get some ideas for your session: generally, are you gonna be a hero, villain, or rogue?
  22. (01:05:27)<Halinn|Toxin>Hero
  23. (01:05:34)<Halinn|Toxin>Vigilante, though
  24. (01:05:53)<Camtist>Ok, I can work with that then. Thank you.

  28. (01:22:18)<Halinn|Toxin>I think I've got stuff on my end. I'd do history and all that kind of stuff for something more than a one-shot
  29. (01:23:01)<Camtist>Aight, in that case I think we're all set. I'm still not sure about the damage rating for a baton, but hopefully I'll figure it out by the time it's needed.
  30. (01:23:17)<Camtist>So, ready?
  31. (01:23:21)<Halinn|Toxin>Let's go
  32. (01:23:32)<Camtist|GM>||||
  33. (01:24:40)<Camtist|GM>You have arrived in Raleigh, North Carolina, hot on the trail of a new bounty. The police have been looking for this guy for months, but you've gotten closer than anyone else.
  34. (01:26:48)<Camtist|GM>Charlie Devens, wanted for several cases of theft, assault, and attempted murders, has recently taken a room in the Pillbanks Motel, under the alias of David Howitzer. Tracking this guy has been a serious pain in the ass, but as you sit in the small coffee shop across the street, you can almost taste the reward.
  35. (01:28:26)<Camtist|GM>He's definitely a cape, that much is certain, but his exact powers are unknown. All you know is that he can deal some major damage, large slices and cuts appearing wherever he's suspected. Hopefully you can deal with him easily enough. ||
  36. (01:30:02)<Halinn|Toxin>Best go over what I've learned so far. Cautious planner, that's for certain. Last time I got this close, he had an escape route planned.
  37. (01:31:37)<Halinn|Toxin>I think I'd catch him by surprise, but you never know for sure. Call the locals for some backup? I don't think that's an option, my rep's already hurting a bit after the property damage from my last fight
  38. (01:33:38)<Halinn|Toxin>I need a clean win. Scope out the hotel, figure out where he's likely to run through. Figure out a way to get him to use that route, then corner him. That's as good a plan of attack as I'm likely to get without spending too much time on this job ||
  39. (01:34:17)<Camtist|GM>((Roll Know))
  40. (01:34:31)<Halinn|Toxin>$roll 1d6
  41. (01:34:31)<[ATM]>Halinn|Toxin [1] = 1
  42. (01:34:39)<Halinn|Toxin>((Off to a good start :D))
  43. (01:34:42)<Camtist|GM>...
  44. (01:36:45)<Camtist|GM>Try as you might, you can't find even a single damn blueprint of the motel, neither online nor from your sources. All you've got to go on is that he's in room 324, or at least that's what the ledger said when you managed to peek at it an hour ago. ||
  45. (01:39:52)<Halinn|Toxin>Shit. I guess the only way is boots on the ground. Better to have some idea of the layout than go in blind. Can't go in costume, obviously. I feel vulnerable without it, but there's no way I'm letting that scum find me here early. ||
  46. (01:41:25)<Camtist|GM>((Are you walking into the hotel, or just scoping it from the outside?))
  47. (01:41:40)<Halinn|Toxin>((Outside first, then going in))
  48. (01:41:54)<Camtist|GM>((Ok))
  49. (01:41:56)<Camtist|GM>...
  50. (01:44:08)<Camtist|GM>The hotel is around 4 stories, with windows dotting each floor. It looks alright, though the place has obviously seen better days. The pain is chipping slightly, and it doesn't seem to get much business.
  51. (01:47:08)<Camtist|GM>Inside isn't much better. The furniture is outdated, and the hardwood floor is a bit dusty. A lone man in a suit sits behind the counter, looking both bored and tired as he stares into the computer, failing to notice you. The back of the room has two hallways, one left and one right, leading to god knows where. ||
  52. (01:48:00)<Halinn|Toxin>...
  53. (01:49:46)<Halinn|Toxin>For the hundredth time I ask myself why I took this job. I'm a slugger, not a detective. 'Course, I know the answer. I need the money, and I damn well ain't working with the goons at the PRT.
  54. (01:51:29)<Halinn|Toxin>Okay. Let's think this through. One of these doors has to lead to the rooms. I could probably just go in without the guy noticing, but which door to take
  55. (01:53:46)<Halinn|Toxin>This place really needs some vacuuming done, lots of dust for a motel. Hey! Maybe the most used door has less dust around it, that'd probably be the one with the rooms. ||
  56. (01:54:06)<Camtist|GM>((Roll Wits))
  57. (01:54:16)<Halinn|Toxin>$roll 1d6-1
  58. (01:54:16)<[ATM]>Halinn|Toxin [3] -1 = 2
  59. (01:54:35)<Halinn|Toxin>((Kinda expected that))
  60. (01:55:40)<Halinn|Toxin>((Smart enough to know that I'm supposed to look, not trained enough to know what to look for))
  61. (01:56:06)<Camtist|GM>There is no perceptible difference between the two doors. Both are pretty big, doubles, and made of some kind of wood. At least they're definitely unlocked: they look like the kind you push on, meant for ease. ||
  62. (01:59:35)<Halinn|Toxin>Can't just stand around looking dumb, eventually the receptionist is gonna notice and wonder. Might as well just go with the left one, walk through with confidence. I don't like the odds, but the risk ain't too big. ||
  63. (02:01:18)<Camtist|GM>Walking through, you arrive at what seems to be a long room. To your left are bathrooms, and to your right are stairs and an elevator. This place looks just as dirty as the lobby, with more dust and a few stains all around. ||
  64. (02:03:25)<Halinn|Toxin>...
  65. (02:05:28)<Halinn|Toxin>I guess this place fits him, it's just as dirty as he is. Okay, time to get what I came for, up the stairs and find out where his room is, then leave so I can plan out how to approach him. ||
  66. (02:06:06)<Camtist|GM>...
  67. (02:07:26)<Camtist|GM>You open the door to the stairwell, looking for any signs as you do so. It looks like any room with 100 is on the first floor, 200 on the second, and so on. However, something slightly more interesting also catches your eye.
  68. (02:09:44)<Camtist|GM>"Hey there," a woman around your age says to you just as you look towards the steps. She is sitting on them, smoking, with tied black hair and loose fitting clothing. She looks pretty relaxed as she meets your gaze evenly. ||
  69. (02:10:33)<Halinn|Toxin>...
  70. (02:14:15)<Halinn|Toxin>((Not sure how to approach this, lemme think a bit))
  71. (02:14:26)<Camtist|GM>((Ok))
  72. (02:19:39)<Halinn|Toxin>"Hey", I finally get out after the delay began to become uncomfortable. "Mind if I join you a bit? Haven't had a smoke for hours." Not waiting for her approval, I pull out a mostly empty packet of my own and sit down a stair below her. "I just came to town earlier today, you know any good places to eat?" ||
  73. (02:20:15)<Camtist|GM>((Roll Social))
  74. (02:20:21)<Halinn|Toxin>$roll 1d6
  75. (02:20:21)<[ATM]>Halinn|Toxin [2] = 2
  76. (02:20:28)<Camtist|GM>...
  77. (02:22:01)<Camtist|GM>The woman eyes you suspiciously, barely moving over to make room for you. "You're pretty friendly, huh?" she asks, an eyebrow raising slightly.
  78. (02:23:02)<Camtist|GM>"I don't know too much about places to eat. Maybe you should check a map." she replies quickly, taking a long drag on her cigarette. ||
  79. (02:23:48)<Halinn|Toxin>...
  80. (02:25:51)<Halinn|Toxin>"Just trying to make conversation. Didn't mean to make you uncomfortable." I say, as I slide to the side to give her some space. "Not my fault if I get a bit tongue-tied near pretty girls" ||

  84. (02:26:54)<Camtist|GM>((There we go))
  85. (02:28:54)<Camtist|GM>The woman smiles a little at your comment. "Very friendly," you hear her mutter, a bit more positive than last time. ||
  86. (02:30:02)<Halinn|Toxin>...
  87. (02:32:11)<Halinn|Toxin>I give her a small smile before taking a puff on my cigarette, so I get a little time to compose a reply
  88. (02:33:29)<Halinn|Toxin>"I was just heading up to check on a friend, we had a bit of a falling out. Hoping he's not just skipped town. Maybe we could get a coffee afterwards?" ||

  90. (02:34:03)<Halinn|Toxin>$roll 1d6
  91. (02:34:03)<[ATM]>Halinn|Toxin [6] = 6
  92. (02:35:46)<Camtist|GM>"Damn," she replies, "You don't even know my name and you're already asking me out. Ballsy."
  93. (02:36:45)<Camtist|GM>She reaches out a hand. "Name's Sam, and yes, I think some coffee would be fun. Or at least amazingly spontaneous." ||
  94. (02:41:12)<Halinn|Toxin>"Garrett" I say with a smile as I grasp her hand. "In an hour, at the little shop down the street? I really should go check on my friend, he can be a bit self-destructive at times" I finish, my smile turning a bit wry
  95. (02:41:22)<Halinn|Toxin>||
  96. (02:43:48)<Camtist|GM>"Sounds nice, just don't bring the friend." Sam stands up, putting out her cigarette. "I'll see you then," she continues, walking out of the stairwell. ||
  97. (02:45:38)<Halinn|Toxin>...
  98. (02:47:27)<Halinn|Toxin>Better not actually go to the third floor, just in case Devens is waiting. Probably ought to burn a bit of time before going downstairs again, just so Sam won't catch me.
  99. (02:49:37)<Halinn|Toxin>I go a bit down the 2nd floor hallway, lean against a wall and think on how to seize the bounty, before walking downstairs to the bathroom to clean myself up a bit before heading to the coffee shop ||
  100. (02:50:13)<Camtist|GM>...
  101. (02:52:20)<Camtist|GM>After several trips around the motel, you eventually find yourself back where you started: the coffee shop. You know where Devens is, and you know how to get to him, but that's as far as you've gotten. Even worse, now now you've got an hour until you meet Sam again. If you want to catch him before then, you'll have to be quick about it. ||
  102. (02:54:57)<Halinn|Toxin>Better have some coffee while I compose my thoughts ... He's probably not a brute, at least not the kind who can take a fall from the third floor.
  103. (02:55:28)<Halinn|Toxin>So surprising him in his hotel room could work, if I don't care about a little property damage. Hard to avoid anyways, with a power like mine. Might as well.
  104. (02:57:05)<Halinn|Toxin>Thing is, when's he most likely to think he's avoided his pursuers. He'll probably be on alert in the morning and evening hours, he knows that's when cops prefer to raid
  105. (02:59:24)<Halinn|Toxin>Hm, it's not that late yet. Maybe have the coffee with Sam before going after Devens, he'll probably think himself safer in the early afternoon hours anyways. It's not a great plan, but it's what I've got. Worst case, he didn't look too athletic from the photos, so I could probably catch him in a chase. ||
  106. (03:02:25)<Camtist|GM>((Sorry about the delay, I was getting corn))
  107. (03:02:27)<Camtist|GM>...
  108. (03:02:41)<Halinn|Toxin>((No probs))
  109. (03:03:00)<Camtist|GM>((You're just gonna wait, right?))
  110. (03:03:06)<Halinn|Toxin>((Feels like I'm taking 10 minutes to do my side anyways))
  111. (03:03:35)<Halinn|Toxin>((Yeah, have a nice chat over coffee, then gear up to attack him in the motel in the early afternoon))
  112. (03:05:12)<Camtist|GM>You wait at the shop, taking your time and trying to get yourself all ready. You're not in your nicest clothes, but then again this /was/ pretty sudden. Sam did seem fun, though, and you could use a break every once in a while.
  113. (03:07:27)<Camtist|GM>Eventually, after what seems like quite a bit of time ticks by, you see Sam emerge from the hotel. Her clothes are a bit less dingy than before, although still somewhat ragged. She walks calmly across the street, noticing and moving straight towards you. ||
  114. (03:10:10)<Halinn|Toxin>I smile and wave her over. "Hey, Sam. I have to admit, I was worrying a little bit that you weren't going to show up, a gentle letdown and such. I'm glad I was wrong" ||
  115. (03:12:49)<Halinn|Toxin>((I wasn't planning on making the one-shot about a date, it just kinda happened...))
  116. (03:13:02)<Camtist|GM>"I could say the same," she replies, taking a seat across from you with a small smile. "Though I was more afraid of roofies and a van. Unless those come later." ||
  117. (03:15:47)<Halinn|Toxin>"I'm all out, I'm afraid" I say, smiling appropriately to let her know I'm joking. "I haven't ordered anything yet, what would you like?" ||
  118. (03:18:20)<Camtist|GM>Sam glances to the back, where all the drinks are listed. "Ooh, they have Irish coffee here. Haven't had one of those in a while."
  119. (03:18:37)<Camtist|GM>She glances back towards you. "How about you?" she asks. ||
  120. (03:20:09)<Halinn|Toxin>"I usually take mine black, it's an old habit. Let me just go order it up and I'll be right back" ||
  121. (03:22:01)<Camtist|GM>You head over to the bar, placing the order. On the way back, you see Sam pull out another cigarette. You don't think smoking is allowed here, but she doesn't seem to care. ||
  122. (03:23:47)<Halinn|Toxin>...
  123. (03:25:42)<Halinn|Toxin>"It'll just be a minute" I say, retaking my seat. "So, anything interesting in this city? I probably won't be here for too long, so I'd like to get the most out of time here" ||
  124. (03:27:50)<Camtist|GM>"I can't really tell you much," she replies, "I'm new as well. Still can't find a place better than that crappy motel, though."
  125. (03:28:50)<Camtist|GM>" She takes another drag on her cigarette. "Maybe that friend of yours can tell you more. He sounded exciting." ||
  126. (03:30:43)<Halinn|Toxin>I sigh. "I'm afraid that was a bust. Either he's gone, or he lied about where he was staying."
  127. (03:32:23)<Camtist|GM>"Yikes. Doesn't sound like much of a friend." As she replies, your drinks arrive.
  128. (03:33:27)<Camtist|GM>"If I were you I'd find him and kick his teeth in," she continues, "Who the hell ditches someone like that?" ||
  129. (03:35:44)<Halinn|Toxin>"I'm strongly considering it, I did come all this way to try and mend things. Maybe I was too nice to him last we spoke. He'd probably be better off with a bit of a bruising, you're right." ||
  130. (03:38:34)<Camtist|GM>"Well then, what are you waiting for?" she says, quickly downing her drink. "Get out there and kick the shit out of him. Then get some whiskey. Or maybe whiskey first, your choice." ||
  131. (03:43:05)<Halinn|Toxin>"I prefer fighting sober, and I really want to kick his ass. After it's done, maybe you'll join me for that whiskey? I did see a bar on the way when I drove here." ||

  136. (03:44:35)<Camtist|GM>Sam seems to ponder the offer. "Sounds pretty nice, and I guess this wasn't too bad either."
  137. (03:45:58)<Camtist|GM>"Hang on a sec," she says, getting up and running over to the bar. She returns quickly with a pen in hand, grabs your arm, and writes a phone number on it.
  138. (03:46:28)<Camtist|GM>"There ya go," she says, capping the pen. "Call me when you're done with the douchebag." ||
  139. (03:48:11)<Halinn|Toxin>"Will do. I got an idea of where to look, assuming he's in town" I say with a smile, as I get up and make my way to the car so I can get suited up
  140. (03:49:38)<Halinn|Toxin>||
  141. (03:49:58)<Camtist|GM>"Good luck," Sam responds, staying in the coffee shop. She waves a quick goodbye before ordering another drink, watching as you leave.
  142. (03:51:34)<Camtist|GM>You drive a little ways away, park, and get out all your gear from the trunk. There's an alley nearby, with pretty much no one in sight. Time to get ready.
