  1. Thaumaturgy, the Art of innate magic (modified Arcane Background: Sorcery)
  2.
  3. “Magick is the science and art of causing change to occur in conformity with will.” -Aleister Crowley
  4.
  5. -Practitioners of the Art find that they require little more than force of will, savvy, and a trigger to draw upon their arcane powers. (+1, innate skill, thaumaturge rolls Spirit die)
  6.
  7. -A properly trained, disciplined thaumaturge learns to conserve and focus their will in such a way that once-difficult tasks become routine, leading to larger reserves of power in comparison to traditional mages. (+2, 15 power points)
  8.
  9. -Often times, the first sign of somebody born with innate magic is the strange ability to negate and counter the magic of others. Indeed, this sometimes leads to paranoia and stigma among the other, more traditional wizards and witches- not that they tend to voice it. (+1, Signature Power: dispel)
  10.
  11. -Because of the nature of thaumaturgy, a practitioner who lacks the will and focus to fully cast a spell loses their concentration and confidence, occasionally suffering physical harm and exhaustion in the process. (-1, strong backlash)
  12.
  13. -Contrary to the image of thaumaturges as solitary hermits and mysterious sorcerers, several “schools” of thought in regards to the use of the Art exist. While largely informal systems of academic debate, each has come to the conclusion that use of the Art requires a trigger. Some, especially thaumaturges in servitude to the vampires of Orensa, draw upon the power of blood as a focus. Other, more mainstream (inasmuch as innate magic can be so) users prefer rituals more similar to hedge magic or stranger, less well-documented sources. The result is the same: in order to use their power, every sorcerer of the Art has a specified routine they use before casting. (-1, slow casting)
