- Here is another 2 in 1 method for supporting my other thread guys, keep it up! Grin
- NOTE: PLEASE THANK THE THREAD AND I WILL POST MORE VERY SOON!
- THIS ONLY WORKS FOR MACS.
- So, lemon law. If you buy something, it breaks 3 times, blah blah blah the company is supposed to replace the entire unit. Apple doesn't want things to get to the point where Apple Legal has to get involved, so they replace whole computers after 3 major repairs.
- A major repair is defined as you would think - HDD doesn't count. Display, logic board, top case, etc do. So you buy/have a Mac that has been in for a few too many repairs, you bring it into the Apple Store with another issue, you mention that it's failed more than 3 times. This part is important - YOU CAN NOT MENTION LEMON LAW. If you do, you will get kicked out of the store and told to call Apple Legal.
- So mention that it has had 3 major repairs and you want a whole new machine. They will push back. While you are right there, call that number I posted earlier, get to Customer Relations, give that dude your story.
- He'll authorize a replacement. The store will give you a new Mac. Now, for how that works: If you had a mid-tier 15" MBP from, say, 2009, you get the same tier current model. They will transfer what's on your old machine to the new one, take your old machine, give you the new one (box and all). Done.

- That's how you do it if you have actually own a Mac. Now for how if you don't:
- ---
- Some Macs are notorious for failure. The watercooled variants of the PowerMac G5 are the most well known as being totally fucked. The water cooling mechanism used in that machine has a near 100% failure rate.
- So, go on eBay. Get a serial for a water cooled G5, call AppleCare up and ask for a repair history on that serial. You may have to press a bit for this, if they ask why tell them that you are going to use your credit card's life time warranty to get this machine replaced and you need to know on what dates you brought it in for repair. Repeat until you find one with 3 repairs, preferably with at least one for the water cooling system. If you can find one that already failed in that way, even better.
- Buy that machine, bring it in, repeat the method from before. Get a brand new Mac Pro as your replacement. Done. They will not even try to repair, the parts are no longer available. The leaking machines are a fire hazard so you win by default.
