  1. Since we're often a bit dissatisfied with the decision for the anime to use MMD rotoscoping, a shadow puppet rendition could launch waves, and be a great first accomplishment. Also, I wanted to explore the darker themes of Kancolle that I feel aren't well explored, and could be a great Madoka-style deconstructionist anti-war drama.
  2.
  3. The first story is about Kongou borrowing a tanto from the fleet Admiral before her next battle. She teases him about it, (and even hugs him after he asks about her age, origin, and displacement) though the Admiral warns her that she should return it as soon as possible. In the end, she reveals the real reason for borrowing the short sword; to commit seppuku right before she gets sunk. The Admiral then makes some satire about what exactly happens to ships that are dragged down to the deep (destroyers become weird aliens?). However, the Admiral states that it would be a shame if she were to "fail" to return, as he had a few things he needed to give her (attempting to hide that these are presents)
  4.
  5. Next, a tough battle occurs where the ships duke it out with their enemies (shadow puppets are capable of incredible martial arts, so we should try to showcase it...). Chillingly, one of the ships, as she nearly gets sunk, professes to "crush the admiral for ditching her", which horrifies Kongou with that feel. Eventually, the ghost ship manages to inflict heavy damage, and even without guns she manages to take her down as well (should we show... the damaged clothes?), and with the fresh image of that zombie battleship filled with killing sense towards her Admiral and her comrades in her mind, is about to commit "sudoku".
  6.
  7. However, her plan is foiled when she opens the tanto and a photo of her and the Admiral drops out. She smiles weakly upon doing so, and remarks that the Admiral is incredibly "unfair" (tsuruiii?).
  8.
  9. Afterwards, the entire fleet returns safely, and Kongou gets into a leaping hug with the admiral. Later on, she asks about the hidden picture in the tanto (which he tells her not to talk about as it is embarassing), but she thanks him in the end, as she managed to fight on when pushed against the tide.

  13. Unanswered Questions: There are a few... unanswered questions in Kancolle, that any player would start to notice.
  14.
  15. 1. **What happens when a ship is scrapped?** I hear that the devs prefer you to believe that their parts are simply stripped off, but as they are ships, something more sinister may be happening. Have a set of triplet Naka-chan light destroyers discuss the possibility (since they know that they are always getting used for cannon fodder or being "scrapped" as part of a Hatedom, which they used to accept without worry). When one curious one decides to seek more information (she is snooping around the admiral's room, and overhears his "proposal" to Kongou and delivering tea), she herself gets scrapped under orders of a guard, and she gets pulled away fearing for her life, while we, the viewers, never know the answer. However, one very sinister suggestion comes at the hands of the Admiral, whom the destroyer overhears as she is being pulled away and subdued ("Huh? Kongou, it looks like a new shipment of scrapped parts is coming in, so we'll be ready for your modernization sooner or later." "Sure! But why? Aren't you in need of more ships to build?" "Well, all I have to say is, to put it nicely... I haven't had much success at the shipyard...").
  16. 2. **Shipping** (heh heh) - The perfect joke is here, though it only works in English. Shipping is non-canon couplings of characters done by the fanbase. When the Admiral asks for a mail order battleship due to his lack of success in construction (damn Naka-chans), he asks his secretary (whoever the lucky ship is) "How much will Shipping cost?" She is flustered, and states "Whoa whoa, Admiral. That might be *your thing*, but I'm not interested in that kind of bullcrap". He facepalms, and asks her clearly "Not that! How much will it cost to deliver?"
  17. 3. **The Kraken of the Sea** - Perhaps any carelessness that results in the sinking of your ships will cause their souls to turn into demons due to their grudge (Though there is no official mention of this and mainly depicted in fanworks, the grudge itself is mentioned in the official 4-koma, and is the main objective and reason why these ship girls are trained and, in some extent, deployed in the first place). So if they die, you might just be responsible in sending these girls to be your enemies in the future.
  18. * After she was proposed to, Kongou has a nightmare about the ghost battleship she fought with towards an inch of her life. She begins to think about exactly what the meaning of the ghost ships were. She asks The Admiral about it, but he crisply tells her that he hasn't. Kongou is unsatisfied and keeps pressing, prodding him about the last words of the ghost ship.
  19. * Finally, The Admiral thinks up a reason, and explains to her that his predecessor had two British-ordered ship that preceded her (battleship Hatsuse and Yashima) was tragically sunk by a mine after traversing a then unknown minefield. She was hit by accident and that Admiral could not bother to try and rescue after another ship got hit, which may have given her a sense of abandonment (and grudge to be a ghost ship).
  20. * Most of all, he surmises that the ghost ships may be jealous that they were simply replaced like nothing happened, and want revenge. However, he tells her that this might just be enemy psyops. They can prove none of these ideas, because experiments would have to be conducted with real ships, which he refuses to do "to his precious daughters (musume)". He speaks some poetic words to her as a closing phrase: "If I ever do anything that would make you hold a grudge for eternity... Then feel free to come and confront me anytime. Whatever form you may be."

  22. (just don't tell anyone that this plot came from several hentai doujins... though we will secretly reference it)
