  1. They wander into the library, located far north of the bysonwoods through yokai infested lands. The smaller creatures who once attacked him on site now balking out of the way and a few even skittering along in his wake hopeful for a meal. Vox wasn't here for a fight though and they intentionally scrabble their way up the sheer cliff face up to the citadel so as to avoid conflict with an elemental.
  2.
  3. No they're here to feed a different hunger. The ravenous desire to understand more, to expand their spectrum of knowledge. Where better than the ancient citadel and it's shelves of old books and tomes. It mattered not that the books were older and hadn't been updated or maintained in some time, they wanted to know about the older days. History long before his self or any other he knew was even born, back in the days when Yokai truly were on the verge of success against the world.
  4.
  5. The easiest story to come across was of Mordred the Perfect. The horror that all humans truely wished to never see happen again, unfortunately however it seems Mordred came to most of his power outside of Valmasia itself thus leaving the methods of his greater evolutionary stage a mystery to those who were within' the barrier. The fact he was able to pass the barrier alone seems to be a massive testament to his power as anything the Yokai finds on the subject points that Kraus's power is fairly seldom tested succesfully if at all.
  6.
  7. The next best subject was Kokb'ael or as some knew him Kzer-za. A nearly perfect Imperfect Yokai that ascended far beyond what the current Imperfect seemed capable of. In some tales the beast even weilded a form of Holy magic which Vox now understood as the essential anti-thesis to their Occul magics. How he managed to accomplish this without destroying himself was a mystery but it seemed to simply be done through sheer power and knowledge of the magic. Hellstorm as well was held and by the accounts Vox had heard the current Imperfect also weilded this mashup of lightning and dark magics. Yet this didn't seem to indicate that the two were walking the same path.
  8.
  9. Instead finally Vox eventually came on the account of Sihn Mourn. An Imperfect who terrorized the continent and worked hand-in-hand with Kzer-za at one point. The Imperfect falling to his own brethern, Kaor who had failed to ascend to Imperfect on their own. The fact that one could 'fail' becoming a Imperfect was not mentioned but digging into the few texts he could find about these two lead him to understand that Imperfect was simply a form of mutation that occured within' Kaor and ascended them to new levels of power without truly evolving further as Yokai did normally. This in it's self was something he was going to have start working on now if he wanted to attain higher power later and ascend himself, he'd need to find a way to force this mutation though the means of which hadn't yet made themselves clear to him and were most likely quite some time off.
  10.
  11. Several ideas came to his mind however. The first of which is that there were Kaor blades for all these beings somewhere out in the world, possibly sealed away but still in existence most likely. While they had the power to corrupt the mind of those who held them if he attained greater power first it might be possible to not worry about their own willpower overcoming his own. The next big thing he noticed was something refered to as Rift Magic.
  12.
  13. This terrifying art seemed to manipulate space itself and allow users and objects to move between places faster than walking or any other means of movement. The exact way of mastering this magic and how it worked was not described here but instead he merely gained a small trace knowledge of it. It's existence as well as some of the things it was possible of made him quite interested. The fact another Yokai, albeit a Imperfect, had accomplished these feats meant that it was not technically impossible for his kind like many magics were thought to be. If they could find some way to explore further into this magic then perhaps there was a way they too could master this and extrapolate on it further than others had before.
  14.
  15. Minutes, hours, days. He did not seem to notice the passing of time too much as he single mindedly tore through every shrapnel of knowledge he could find within' the ancient books. Some of it was lost to time and others seemed newer than they should, but all were quietly read through by the beast. Page by page ingrained into their mind for later use. Perhaps their Lord Imperfect knew of a way to accomplish this Rift Magic or would share his own tale of asscention to Imperfect with the Yokai. Maybe he should wait until he evolves once more and obtained a higher understanding of magic itself but he was simply too curious at the time. The last book closed and carefully replaced where it'd been taken from before the crow-like Yokai left it all behind. Every trace they'd read memorized and stored within' their mind because as history had shown knowledge was power and understanding of history allowed one to not repeat the same mistakes as others.
  16.
  17. Their talons scraping on the flagstone of the Citadel as they make their way out and quickly begin the journey back towards the Imperfect's city.
