  3. Alrighty. As far as the interview goes, now a good time?
  4. Xenos - Yesterday at 1:20 PM
  5. Mhm!
  6. Epsilon's just conversing with the roboticists about Shells and borgs and mental interfaces.
  7. Serveris - Yesterday at 1:20 PM
  8. Swell, let me just get everything pulled up.
  9. Alrighty. So, most of these questions will be posed in a, "what would you do in this scenario," fashion, some will have much more simple answers. If at any point, you'd like me to clarify on something, all you need do is ask. Ready to begin?
  10. Xenos - Yesterday at 1:25 PM
  11. Mhm!
  12. Serveris - Yesterday at 1:25 PM
  13. First question. A new player joins with the character name "Tom Hanks", a bald 30 year old assistant. Our database show s their account is 2 days old. What do you do?
  14. Xenos - Yesterday at 1:27 PM
  15. At first, I would do nothing. No need to discriminate because of account age or baldness. But I would keep an eye on them to make sure they don't start breaking rules or making a nuisance of themselves. If they start to do something bad, I'll ghost to them and let them know "Hey, you probably shouldn't be doing this. You could try this instead." And if they don't listen? Tell the other staff, see what they think.
  16. Serveris - Yesterday at 1:29 PM
  17. Alright. Second question.
  18. You receive an adminhelp from a player stating that they have been permabrigged for no reason. How do you respond?
  19. Xenos - Yesterday at 1:29 PM
  20. Question. Do Moderators have access to logs?
  21. Because if so, I would ask them to wait for a moment, as I went through the logs and tried to see what happened. If that failed, I would ghost to them, ask what happened, then ghost to whatever member of security arrested them, and do the same.
  22. I would wait until I saw both sides, and, if possible, a third-party opinion, before passing judgement.
  23. Serveris - Yesterday at 1:32 PM
  24. Alright. Good. Third question, even you're ready.
  25. Xenos - Yesterday at 1:32 PM
  26. Mhm!
  27. Serveris - Yesterday at 1:37 PM
  28. You are sitting in the lobby, working on your characters. It is dead hour. You are the only staff online. You suddenly see a flood of attack logs, originating from two sources. One is a player to recognize as a security player, using their well known security player. You don't really know them that well beyond this. The second is a name and a ckey you don't recognize. Both are shooting one another with lethal weapons, it seems. What do you do?
  29. Xenos - Yesterday at 1:38 PM
  30. Ooh... Being the only staff online kind of complicates things, because I like to get another staff member's judgement before taking serious action.
  31. But. What I would do, is ghost to them and see what's happening. I would, if possible, observe for a while and check through the logs to see what led up to it. I would also ask them what was happening. If there wasn't a valid reason, and they were just shooting at each other for the heck of it, I'd probably wind both of them temporarily while I came up with a solution (If possible). I only issue permanent or semi-permanent actions as a last resort.
  32. Serveris - Yesterday at 1:43 PM
  33. Duly noted. Moving on.
  34. You receive an adminhelp suggesting that a player you know very well, but have never actually had to deal with as a moderator, is powergaming. A quick check of them shows that they, as an engineer, are engaged in combat with 5 heisters on the engineering outpost using improvised weapons they have made for themselves. A crossbow and a baseball bat. They are winning decisively. Three of the heisters are dead already. One is bleeding to death in crit. The last surviving heister is the one that sent the ahelp, and are currently fighting the engineer, but losing. You estimate in another thirty seconds at most, the engineer will have killed him too. Go.
  35. Xenos - Yesterday at 1:48 PM
  36. Hm...
  37. This one, I am actually not sure how I would respond.
  38. Serveris - Yesterday at 1:53 PM
  39. Give your best answer.
  40. Xenos - Yesterday at 1:55 PM
  41. Taking hasty action is not something I would normally do, and I certainly would not do lightly. However, I wouldwind the engineer and the heister and ask the two to explain to me what exactly is happening. Considering that powergaming is a rather serious offense, I would consider such an action justified. There are a few cases where powergaming could be justifiable (Being hyped up on Hyperzine might do it), but if they are simply powergaming for the sake of powergaming or validhunting... I would most likely tell them to stop, and "reset" the situation by ressurecting and healing the heisters that most likely had their fun completely ruined by said powergaming validhunter. If they continued, I would most likely wind and issue a warning, and get the opinion of another staff member on the issue.
  42. Serveris - Yesterday at 1:56 PM
  43. Alright. Next question.
  44. You receive an adminhelp suggesting that a player whom you consider yourself close with and a good friend to be metagrudging them as a head of staff. You are the only staff online, and no one is responding on Discord. How do you proceed?
  45. Xenos - Yesterday at 2:36 PM
  46. Hm.
  47. Normally I would defer the decision to another staff member, as it would be difficult for me to remain impartial. However, if the situation requird that I step in, I would try my hardest to treat it like I would any other situation. Read the logs, talk to the people involved. In this case, however, due to how difficult impartiality might be, I would weigh my actions /very/ carefully before handing out a warning or a kick.
  48. Serveris - Yesterday at 2:46 PM
  49. Good. Moving on.
  50. Serveris - Yesterday at 2:47 PM
  51. Are there any forum-related duties you would be interested in taking up, assuming you reached the status of a full fledged moderator?
  52. Xenos - Yesterday at 2:50 PM
  53. Hm. I'm not entirely sure, I don't particularly frequent the forums.
  54. Serveris - Yesterday at 2:51 PM
  55. Alright. We'll assume none at this time, then?
  56. Xenos - Yesterday at 2:51 PM
  57. Mhm!
  58. Serveris - Yesterday at 2:55 PM
  59. I see. Okay. Any sort of real life obligations? I noticed you were rather youthful compared to most of our moderation staff, so I'm going to assume school, yes?
  60. Xenos - Yesterday at 2:55 PM
  61. Nope, just graduated high school.
  62. Might be going to college soon, once I re-take the damn SAT.
  63. Apparently 1600 when taking it in seventh grade doesn't count.
  64. Serveris - Yesterday at 2:55 PM
  65. Explains how you're able to frequent deadhour, then.
  66. Xenos - Yesterday at 2:56 PM
  67. Mhm!
  68. Serveris - Yesterday at 2:57 PM
  69. Now, the college bit is an important bit. Were you planning on starting soon? As in, in the next 2-3 months?
  70. Xenos - Yesterday at 2:57 PM
  71. Ah, not particularly. Going to start some time next year. Of more immediate concern is the fact that I'm applying for jobs in the interim.
  72. Serveris - Yesterday at 2:58 PM
  73. Full time?
  74. Xenos - Yesterday at 2:58 PM
  75. Starting with part-time, I hope.
  76. Serveris - Yesterday at 2:58 PM
  77. I see, very good.
  78. You mentioned experience moderating elsewhere in your application. Can you go into more detail on that for me?
  79. Xenos - Yesterday at 2:59 PM
  80. I was a mod, then admin, on several small minecraft servers.
  81. Xenos - Yesterday at 3:00 PM
  82. Small, as in we'd usually get a max of ten people online at a time.
  83. Serveris - Yesterday at 3:02 PM
  84. I see. In a summary, what skills or experiences that you picked up during this time do you believe may be an asset to our staff? Any useful insight? Methodology?(edited)
  85. Xenos - Yesterday at 3:05 PM
  86. Hum... Well, I developed my go-to system for dealing punishments.
  87. I give two verbal warnings at a time. If they ignore both, I will apply punishment as necessary.
  88. It's also where I developed that behaviour of forced impartiality. If I can't be neutral on an issue, I will, if possible, defer to someone else who can be a fair judge.
  89. Serveris - Yesterday at 3:08 PM
  90. I see. Alright.
  91. Final question.
  92. This one is easy, I swear.
  93. Xenos - Yesterday at 3:11 PM
  94. Okay.
  95. Serveris - Yesterday at 3:12 PM
  96. Would you prefer the transcript I will be saving of this to be kept to those of us reviewing potential applicants, or posted on your application on the forums for the entire community to see? Your choice.
  97. Xenos - Yesterday at 3:13 PM
  98. Forum.
  99. It's best to let the community say their piece on an authority-figure's application.
