- Water from the shower absorbed in our robes as we sit
- in the kitchen, inhaling a perfect French breakfast,
- pure cigarettes and coffee, black. Few words are
- exchanged, our bodies speaking a language we both
- are fluent, I look up and ask “Do we still have much
- to pack?” She stubs out her cigarette and shakes her head,
- "We’re about ready, but..are you ready to have the most
- spiritual experience you have ever had in Zion?” I grin
- and tell her, “Falling in love you was the biggest
- spiritual awakening I could ever have, know that love
- resides through my every atom and ion.” We got dressed,
- made love, got our suitcases, and walked out the door
- towards the kingdom of heaven.
- A small glass of whiskey touches my lips as we sit
- soaring through and above the clouds, crossing land
- and sea, our hands laced while she sleeps. My eyes
- fall and sand is sprinkled onto me, the sandman creeps.
- My eyes open as the plane bumps onto the Earth once
- more, and beautiful eyes look back into mine as I
- whisper, “We’re here.” We retrieve our luggage
- and walk outside into the heat, I raise a hand to
- flag down a cab, and as we are driven to our hotel,
- do I feel that God is near. Simontaneously do we let out
- a breathe of relief as we lay on the bed we shall use
- as a dream station for the next three days, the room
- a crimson red about double the size of a standard
- college dorm, a small table with a black phone
- stands in between two twin size beds that seemed
- relatively clean. Quickly are we finished with
- being contained, our hands quickly clasp, and
- she says, “Okay, lets go, and see what never, have
- we seen.” And with that, do we only truly start
- our adventure.
