- (07:04:12) Permafry_42: alrighty sounds good. I'll start in 5
- (07:04:46) Permafry_42: 4
- (07:04:46) Permafry_42: 3
- (07:04:46) Permafry_42: 2
- (07:05:05) Permafry_42: 1
- (07:05:05) Permafry_42: sorry 1 sec. image wasn't centered
- (07:05:16) Permafry_42: k starting again
- (07:05:18) ***Lightkey skids to a halt
- (07:05:24) Cheeseness: ^_^
- (07:05:26) Cheeseness: Hey Lightkey
- (07:05:48) Permafry_42: let me know when it's going on your end
- (07:06:18) Syd: It's live
- (07:06:35) Cheeseness: Yup
- (07:06:40) Cheeseness: And now it's an ad :D
- (07:06:59) Sven_Q45: Lol thanks for watching. :D
- (07:07:09) flesk: It's live again here.
- (07:07:12) liorean: Now intro started
- (07:07:14) Cheeseness: I think you mean "Enjoy!"
- (07:07:14) Syd: I've done that once, accidentally playing the outro for a split second. :P
- (07:07:19) Cheeseness: Hah
- (07:07:25) Ongaku: Haven't played this game
- (07:07:27) Permafry_42: yeah it does it twice XC
- (07:07:28) Syd: Now I'm really careful about it
- (07:07:29) Ongaku: never*
- (07:08:00) Permafry_42: 1 moment again to enjoy the great opening song =D
- (07:08:12) Ongaku: I'm already liking this
- (07:08:20) Cheeseness: The soundtrack is so good in this game
- (07:08:30) Ongaku: this is so Poirot
- (07:08:31) Sven_Q45: The opening song was from a real orchester.
- (07:08:39) Syd: Ongaku: You'll be missing out on chapter 1, but it's a pretty good game.
- (07:08:46) Permafry_42: i love the special feature showing them recording it
- (07:08:54) Cheeseness: So when we left off, Anton was captured by Dr Gherber
- (07:09:13) Cheeseness: I remember first time I saw the loading scene, I thought that I had graphical bugs
- (07:09:19) Permafry_42: i love the colors and sound effects in this section
- (07:09:30) Permafry_42: it really adds to the atmosphere
- (07:10:18) flesk: I don't think I understood the logic behind this puzzle when I played the game.
- (07:10:34) Permafry_42: also like the the dialogue here
- (07:10:47) Cheeseness: This really felt like a explore-by-death sequence
- (07:10:49) flesk: I got the required steps to solve it, but not the why of it.
- (07:11:11) flesk: @Cheeseness: Yes, exactly.
- (07:11:22) Cheeseness: (although I kinda like those)
- (07:14:22) Cheeseness: I admit it does get a little convoluted
- (07:14:44) Ongaku: haha love that hint
- (07:15:25) Cheeseness: The classic murder mystery atmosphere is so good
- (07:16:13) Permafry_42: gotta love whodunits
- (07:16:19) Cheeseness: I know, right
- (07:17:54) Ongaku: it was colonel mustard on the winter garden!
- (07:17:59) Ongaku: he used the gun
- (07:18:26) Permafry_42: i wasn't a fan of the quiz on last episode occuring the second episode. made people who played it a while later have a harder time explaining the details of the mystery
- (07:19:25) flesk: I had forgotten about that quiz. What was the point of it again?
- (07:19:58) flesk: I don't think getting parts of it wrong had any consequences?
- (07:20:26) Sven_Q45: I found it funny who the Raven is, :D
- (07:20:41) Cheeseness: This big expositionary sequence is neat in terms of pacing. It sets up all of the key characters again after the break between Chapater 1 and Chapter 2
- (07:20:48) Permafry_42: oh no it didn't, but you get an achievement for getting it all right. also i guessed the raven at the opening of the game
- (07:21:16) Permafry_42: this scene was the first part that made it impossible for it to be anyone else
- (07:21:24) flesk: Yeah, that was neat, but no spoilers, Sven. ;)
- (07:21:26) Cheeseness: They position things as "solved" so that Zellner's an outsider again with his belief that the letter is fake
- (07:21:38) Sven_Q45: I don´t spoiler ;)
- (07:22:27) Sven_Q45: I liked that sunny day on the ship!
- (07:23:06) Permafry_42: i like the background art for the ship too
- (07:23:20) Sven_Q45: yeah
- (07:24:59) flesk: I kind of like King Arts' way of exhausting dialog options and hotspots. When I first played BoUT it bothered me a bit, but it's a good way to not overwhelm casual players with too many possible interactions at any given time.
- (07:26:08) Sven_Q45: Cairo. One of the best parts of the whole game.
- (07:26:57) Permafry_42: there's a character animation coming up that is almost creapy
- (07:27:07) Cheeseness: I think it's really neat that as you play this, you have no feel for how long the game is going to be (other than knowledge that there are three chapters)
- (07:27:30) Cheeseness: (and that knowledge becomes useless pretty soon)
- (07:27:36) Sven_Q45: I thought there were more time on the ship in episode one. Well it´s one year ago I played it. :D
- (07:28:48) flesk: Yeah, most of the game seems to take place in Cairo in hindsight, but I had that feeling too.
- (07:30:19) Sven_Q45: I don´t like Mr Inch.
- (07:30:36) Cheeseness: His pants are very obvious
- (07:30:54) Permafry_42: this is the character animation i was talking about
- (07:31:10) Sven_Q45: Also like this music.
- (07:31:13) Permafry_42: Mrs miller looks like a robot in this part
- (07:31:40) Cheeseness: She's always looked a bit creepy to me
- (07:31:46) flesk: Yeah, that looks pretty odd.
- (07:32:16) flesk: I was thinking she looked like a mule because of the movement of her mouth.
- (07:32:26) Permafry_42: notice her hands are sticking inside of each other
- (07:32:27) Cheeseness: She's actually a dummy
- (07:32:38) Cheeseness: Zellner is a ventriloquist
- (07:32:43) flesk: Haha.
- (07:32:50) Permafry_42: lol
- (07:32:57) Sven_Q45: :D
- (07:33:17) flesk: It's obvious that this game could have used some more polish, given a higher budget.
- (07:33:42) flesk: I remember some scenes on the train where you could see through the top of Zellner's head too.
- (07:33:43) Sven_Q45: BOUT is going to be better.
- (07:33:45) Permafry_42: for a budget title its really good
- (07:34:07) Permafry_42: yeah glad i kickstarted bout2
- (07:34:09) flesk: Yeah, it is, and it's got a very good length.
- (07:34:28) flesk: Me too.
- (07:34:37) Sven_Q45: It´s an adventure. There are thinks who are more important than graphics. Though I like good graphics!
- (07:34:38) flesk: Too bad Kaptain Brawe didn't make it.
- (07:34:53) Sven_Q45: flesk yes.
- (07:35:16) Sven_Q45: The German version of Kaptain Brawe 1 has voice. :P
- (07:35:16) flesk: With both Steve Ince and Bill Tiller on board. Would have been really interesting to see.
- (07:35:28) flesk: I think they said they were going to launch a new campaign soon though?
- (07:35:43) Sven_Q45: I dunno.
- (07:36:36) Sven_Q45: I gave 500 for BOUT 2.
- (07:36:51) Permafry_42: wow!
- (07:37:00) Permafry_42: i wish i had that type of money
- (07:37:29) Sven_Q45: I haven´t. But adventures are a hobby. And I like BOUT!
- (07:38:00) Ongaku left the room (quit: Quit: http://www.mibbit.com ajax IRC Client).
- (07:38:09) Sven_Q45: I already have a little Critter figurine but I looking forward to the Critter plushie reward. :)
- (07:38:42) Permafry_42: the most i spent on a kickstarter was $60 on the physical tier for mighty no 9
- (07:39:39) Sven_Q45: I don´t know that. DFA was my debut to KS.
- (07:40:15) Permafry_42: yeah same. i wish i had given more to the campaign. i only could afford $15 at the time
- (07:41:07) Permafry_42: i like the eyptian history here
- (07:41:24) Permafry_42: it's a nice break from the murder mysteries
- (07:41:24) Sven_Q45: 150 for dfa. Wanted that signed poster. But 2 or 3 times I missed the chance! :(
- (07:41:51) Syd: I've given $50 to two different Kickstarters, they tie for the most I've spent on one. I could only give $30 to DFA at the time, wish I could have done more.
- (07:42:01) Sven_Q45: Ankh comes to mind....
- (07:45:54) flesk: I usually only pledge between $10 and $20 on Kickstarters, but I've made a few exceptions.
- (07:46:12) Permafry_42: oh yeah i actually spent $30 pounts on https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1294225970/kingdom-come-deliverance
- (07:46:36) Sven_Q45: Well boxed version is the least. :D
- (07:46:42) flesk: $100 for DFA is the most I've spent on one.
- (07:46:58) Permafry_42: it's the second most i spent on a kickstarter, and for what it is it looks to be great
- (07:47:20) Sven_Q45: and the most Permafry_42
- (07:47:21) Sven_Q45: ?
- (07:47:23) Permafry_42: if i could go back in time i would have bought the $100 boxed edition
- (07:47:41) Permafry_42: already said; mighty no 9 at $60
- (07:47:57) Cheeseness: I wonder if the artifacts in the museum here are based on real stuff, or whether they're an artist's impression
- (07:48:04) Sven_Q45: But 60 is not more than 100. ;)
- (07:48:09) Permafry_42: *i meant to say 30 pounds for kingdom come
- (07:49:05) Permafry_42: i know; i said i would have bough the box for dfa if i could have afforded it
- (07:49:20) Permafry_42: but i only bought the $15 tier
- (07:49:27) Sven_Q45: You said yo u spent 100.
- (07:49:33) flesk: No, I did.
- (07:49:45) Permafry_42: lol this is getting confusing XD
- (07:49:49) Sven_Q45: Yes I saw it. ;)
- (07:50:02) Sven_Q45: flesk was it. I just looked again. :D
- (07:50:12) Sven_Q45: sorry Permafry_42
- (07:50:25) flesk: @Cheeseness: It
- (07:50:30) flesk: 's authentic looking at least.
- (07:50:35) Cheeseness: Yeah, for sure
- (07:50:36) flesk: Oops.
- (07:50:47) Cheeseness: That small model looked vaguely accurate at least
- (07:50:50) Permafry_42: np
- (07:51:02) flesk: Second most for me was $69.69 for LSL:Reloaded.
- (07:51:20) flesk: Shame about all that drama.
- (07:51:28) Sven_Q45: yes
- (07:51:37) Sven_Q45: But the support was still good!
- (07:51:37) liorean: What is LSL:Reloaded?
- (07:51:42) flesk: I'm no expert on Egyptian artifacts though.
- (07:51:48) Sven_Q45: I had much trouble getting my reward.
- (07:51:50) Cheeseness: Leisure Suit Larry
- (07:51:52) flesk: liorean: Leisure Suit Larry: Reloaded.
- (07:51:54) liorean: Ah
- (07:52:13) liorean: Not use to seeing that abbreviated
- (07:52:18) flesk: Yeah, but I was more thinking about Paul Trowe's "antics".
- (07:52:44) Permafry_42: i love the mean answer
- (07:53:03) Cheeseness: There might be a little too much echo where for the sort of room it is
- (07:53:31) flesk: Is this chapter much shorter than the previous one? I can't remember there being much left after this, but it's been a while.
- (07:53:41) liorean: Large room, stone walls? That's the perfect environment for echoes
- (07:53:43) Permafry_42: yeah its definetely shorter
- (07:54:27) Cheeseness: liorean: I don't think it's the right kind of echo for the volume/shape of the space
- (07:54:27) flesk: And I pledged $50 towards Jane Jensen's Kickstarter.
- (07:55:03) liorean: Might not be. I haven't been keeping too much attention to the room layout
- (07:55:52) Permafry_42: i like the design of the museum exhibit btw
- (07:55:57) Cheeseness: I've never been able to work out what he wrapped the eye in
- (07:55:59) flesk: Oh, and Massive Chalice.
- (07:56:20) Permafry_42: paper i think.
- (07:57:10) Sven_Q45: Well I think I have a little connection to Phoenix online. :D
- (07:57:33) Permafry_42: the camera hints at the time this game is set
- (07:57:59) Sven_Q45: I was at Janes farm. Beta tested Moebius. And beta tested QFI. And I want to test GK 1 Remake.
- (07:58:37) flesk: Yeah, I remember.
- (07:58:48) flesk: I just started playing QFI.
- (07:58:51) Sven_Q45: flesk What?
- (07:59:02) Sven_Q45: Remember what?
- (07:59:16) flesk: That you've visited Jane's farm.
- (07:59:56) flesk: Haven't played Moebius yet. Waiting for the Linux version.
- (08:00:19) Sven_Q45: http://www.adventure-treff.de/forum/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=20531&hilit=besuch+bei+jane+jensen
- (08:00:36) Permafry_42: so this will be where we'll be leaving off at this week
- (08:01:20) Cheeseness: Excitement!
- (08:01:36) Sven_Q45: I have two videos of the farm.
- (08:02:07) Cheeseness: Awesome stuff
- (08:02:10) Cheeseness: Thanks for streaming, Permafry_42
- (08:02:11) Permafry_42: Thanks to everyone for joining us!
- (08:02:30) flesk: Yeah, thanks for streaming. :)
- (08:03:02) Sven_Q45: what´s awesome? The last scene?
- (08:03:31) Syd: I feel pretty settled on Toonstruck being the next game after The Raven. There's supposedly some good news regarding Toonstruck that's going to be announced at Comic Con, so it'd be good timing too. :)
- (08:03:52) Permafry_42: for those who haven't played the game yet, please try to give the game a try. the next part of the stream will include some significant spoilers for those who haven't played chapter 1 (even moreso than the opening of this chapter)
- (08:04:48) Permafry_42: sweet! I've been meaning to finish toonstuck for a while but kept getting sidetracked
- (08:05:57) Cheeseness: Sven_Q45: The game in general
- (08:06:00) Syd: Signs point towards a re-release, but it could be something more, since the developer that owns the rights really wants to put the sequel together someday.
- (08:06:59) Permafry_42: i know that the game supposedly have a whole second game worth of content that wasn't used
- (08:08:02) Syd: I've heard that all the important assets were already made, but the game was effectively split in two shortly before it was finished, the second half never being completed.
- (08:08:31) Syd: If all the important stuff is still out there (FMVs, voice acting, etc) then it should be possible for the second half of the game to be made
- (08:09:05) flesk: Aren't copies pretty hard to come by these days?
- (08:09:16) Sven_Q45: There were a split before DFA? :D
- (08:09:21) flesk: I seem to recall trying but failing.
- (08:09:31) Syd: Toonstruck doesn't seem to be too expensive on Amazon
- (08:10:00) Cheeseness: I might wrap up the chat log and get that stuff out of the way.
- (08:10:05) Cheeseness: Don't forget to leave a comment in the thread http://www.doublefine.com/forums/viewthread/14388/
- (08:10:06) Cheeseness: \o/
