  1. Riddler Lessons 2.0
  2. Congratulations one of the Dork Knights managed to crack my puzzle. So it's
  3. time for another write up on how I am so much smarter than all of you

  11.
  12. Let's Begin
  13. For this puzzle I chose to do a more riddle based puzzle with some forensics
  14. rather than the more forensics heavy puzzle like last time.
  15.
  16. Original Post
  17. Alright I'm back again to make you wonder where and how I'll out smart you. I'm a cocky man by nature so here's what you need to know. Everything you need to open the first puzzle is this post. Remember this one is going to be a lot harder then the first, and don't forget while I am a brillant man I am also lazy. Some tricks never change.
  18. And attached to this post was a picture of me the Riddler!
  19.
  20. Sol: Well if you were around for the last puzzle the first key was to SHA1SUM
  21. the photo, and given my brillant, but lazy mind I did this as well. The hint
  22. states that everything you need to open is in this post (which includes the pic)
  23. in order to prevent a mixup like last time I also included a direct download
  24. link for the picture. So SHA1SUM the photo and decrypt the first box
  25.
  26. Hint 1:
  27. What ahhh so you got in did you? Honestly i can't say i'm impressed the first parts always easy and never the best. Otherwise how would you really show me you are smart. i'm thinking learn about STRINGS theory in the normality of art. Go ahead you'll get stuck (and trust me you will), don't be too worried, just go back to the first thing you saw.
  28.
  29. Sol: This one was a little more forensics based. The main hint here is STRINGS.
  30. STRINGS is a command that takes any file and outputs any words it can find in it.
  31. The second part is telling you don't worry you will get stuck just go back to the
  32. first thing you saw. Which in this case is the sexy picture of ME the Riddler!
  33. Run STRINGS on that photo and you get a bunch of gibberish except for the end of
  34. file which states "The Password is Nigma"
  35.
  36. Hint 2:
  37. Interesting you are impressive no doubt about that, but being smart is one thing and beating the riddler is quite another. For the next part of the puzzle is really easy to solve, but honestly i think i'll break your resolve. Tell me what's wrong with this word, "supeezr." So the answer to that will give you this
  38. "it's _____________" which is the password (in all lower case).
  39.
  40. Sol: Ahh finally a good old fashioned riddle. You might be tempted to say it's
  41. misspelled or something silly like that, but that's not what the answer is. Oh
  42. no take a look at "supeezr" it's got 2 e's and a z. So the word is too easy.
  43. Thus the password is "it's too easy"
  44.
  45. Hint 3:
  46. Thank goodness you're far, but it's not over yet what board game are you playing when you take a bet? Hurry up don't slow. Ever lazy is always bad you know?
  47.
  48. Sol: Another riddle! This one is simple when you take a bet you are playing the
  49. odds or playing Risk!
  50.
  51. Hint 4:
  52. Goodness well, well, you are very far, but it's tough to get ahead in life. In the photo in this folder can show a few ways to get a head, but where on Earth is it? For santa's sake stop fucking around. Tell me the answer or I'll burn you down. Maps are like books they have neat spots. Earthen and blue, but in other places not. Now can't you answer can't you hurry up?
  53. And this folder had a picture named gettingahead.png.
  54.
  55. Sol: This one is all forensics. This is a famous head like landmark, but how on
  56. Earth might you find it? Well there's a couple of ways, but old Eddie decided to
  57. make it simple. You have a photo and photos often contain metainformation about
  58. the photo. If you look at the meta info on this photo you get
  59. File Name : gettingahead.png

  87. BINGO! Coordinates, plug those into a map and you find that the head is in
  88. Canada!
  89.
  90. Hint 5:
  91. Bet you thought you were done didn't you? well you're not. those hints were helpful a CAPITAL gain, but except for STRINGS what do they explain? Go back to look for the password. If you were Dr. Manhattan you'd already know the answer.
  92.
  93. Sol: Finally a combination of hints and forensics. This hint is stressing CAPITAL.
  94. And it also tells you to go back and look for the password. Well we have all
  95. these hints I wonder if they can help us. If you run a quick script to look
  96. for only capital letters in the hints you get
  97. Hint1.txt:What
  98. Hint1.txt:Honestly
  99. Hint1.txt:Otherwise
  100. Hint1.txt:STRINGS
  101. Hint1.txt:Go
  102. Hint2.txt:Interesting

  114. Hint4.txt:I
  115. Hint4.txt:Maps
  116. Hint4.txt:Earthen
  117. Hint4.txt:Now
  118. which spells WHO GIFTS THE GIFTMEN (which also explains the Dr. Manhattan reference).
  119.
  120. And of course you unlock the final box which gives you
  121. You did it, it's done congrats my friend now post in the thread the following phrase
  122. "Saint Nicolas was an ordinary man until he was bitten by a radioactive deer, thus turning him into Santa Claus!" with your list and expect a gift.
  123.
  124. And that's it. Your old pal Eddie has done it again!
