Independent Speaking - First two speaking tasks
1 open-ended
2 choice question
preparation: 15 seconds (plus about another 15 while you hear the question and the timing instructions)
speaking: 45 seconds

“Choose a place you go to often that is important to you, and explain why it is important. Please include specific details in your explanation.”

- The name of your answer (book, movie, photograph, person, city, etc.) doesn’t have to be real or English.
- You can choose generic reasons for liking something even if they’re not true of the answer you picked.
	person: kind, understanding, good advice (best friend, favorite teacher, person you admire, etc.)
	book/movie: interesting fictional world, really believable characters, style is easy to understand
		(It could be the first book or movie you understood completely in English.)
	place: nice scenery, comfortable, relaxing, good for people-watching, food

Remember that your full response can be organized like this:
1 Introduction: state your answer and briefly describe it (if necessary)
2 Lead-in: “I have two reasons for my opinion.”
3 First reason: “First, it is a typical Greek food.”
4 Detail/example: “My family is Greek and gyros…”
5 Second reason: “Second, it combines all my favorite flavors together.”
6 Detail/example: “I love lamb and tzatziki…”
(7 Conclusion - if you have time)
- One or both reasons for your choice in task 2 can be disadvantages of the other option.
