[7:23:42 PM] Dokokashira: Thank you! Anyway, I'm back from it now.
[7:23:57 PM] Dokokashira: Unfortunately, I had to leave it early, but I think I did decently while I was there.
[7:24:20 PM] Dokokashira: I lost my first round against a Ness, and won my second against a Mario/Yoshi. I had to go after that.
[7:27:13 PM] Dokokashira: I also played a bunch of friendlies and won most of the ones I played. I played a Ness, a Diddy Kong, a Pit, another Ness, a Villager, a Toon Link, and a Lucas. Seven unique opponents in total.
[7:28:25 PM] Dokokashira: I actually had a bunch of fun. I sat awkwardly in the corner at first, and then this person approached me and asked if this was my first tournament, and he said it was his too. He asked me to explain stage striking, which I did, and then we went to play friendlies and it evolved from there.
[7:29:20 PM] Dokokashira: I got some compliments, too. The Diddy Kong said I was a "strong Dr. Mario", and then the Pit said I was "amazing with Dr. Mario", and the Toon Link said I was "really good at punishing".
[7:30:25 PM] Dokokashira: I was actually REALLY surprised by how different offline is. I thought it would just be a smoother online, but the timings for everything were so different. I did a bunch of up smashes when I meant to do up airs because everything was so quick.
[7:30:43 PM] Dokokashira: I adapted quickly, and once I did, it felt SOOOOO good. I perfect shielded like hell.
[7:32:51 PM] Dokokashira: And I even pulled off an option select. Everything felt so clean and responsive,
[7:34:21 PM] Dokokashira: I did some pretty neat mindgames and setups. For example, this one Ness was waiting on Smashville's platform, and I did a few shorthop forward aerials, in which he didn't move. When I went back up, he did a PK Fire, and I immediately caped the PK Fire and up B'd him while he was trapped.
[7:35:23 PM] Dokokashira: And the tourney round against the Yoshi, I juggled him with up airs, back airs, and a bunch of air dodge reads. I even caped him a few times to get off a free up B or grab.
[7:36:56 PM] Dokokashira: In case you're wondering, yeah, I went Dr. Mario for all my tourney matches.
[7:37:10 PM] Dokokashira: I played Mii Gunner and Pikachu in friendlies.
[7:38:16 PM] Dokokashira: But yeah, that's my text wall about how the tournament went! Absolutely worth the wait.
