  1. [17:27:48] [~castfromhp] It's nearing midnight on the eve of 2007, and Allerdale is preparing to celebrate in its own way, away from the bustle of the crowded streets of Soho and the Prism Passage, but not without its own share of booze and revelry. Basil, you've found yourself near home, having returned from a fishing trip earlier this evening. Even during the holidays, the fishing nets still need to be brought in. You're watching as your father and
  2. [17:27:48] [~castfromhp] his fishermen and dock worker friends finish up some hasty preparations so they don't miss the new year. A bit down the docks, you see a few burly workers prepping bootleg fireworks while your old man tends to a boat to bring out into sea to watch the spectacle.
  3. [17:30:02] [~castfromhp] As for you Poe, you're flying in the area doing bird things! The dock workers have been pretty sloppy about leaving their boxes of snacks and booze out in the open as they set up, and the ocean breeze here has kept the smell of smoke off the air, unlike most of the rest of the city.
  4. [17:33:49] * Basil Cracks his knuckles nervously, watching the bootleg explosives be set up. Wiping his hands on his pants he starts to head in their direction before thinking better of it. Instead he makes his way towards the boat and away form the potential explosive death and talking to people. "Hey Da, need any help?"
  5. [17:36:10] * Poe takes a moment to perch on a boat and adjust his scarf - can't keep too warm on a night like tonight - and then flaps into the air again, careful to give the gentlemen with the explosion tubes a wiiiide berth. Now. Snacks. Snacks snacks... Oh, and there was probably some sort of job he was supposed to be doing. Not that he cared all that much - there was something about
  6. [17:36:10] * Poe tailfeather-freezing weather that precluded it.
  7. [17:36:26] [~castfromhp] He grunts as he lifts up a large jug of fuel and starts refilling the engine. "Yeah boy, grab me another can o'beer, will ya?" He jerks his head toward the picnic baskets and coolers off back toward the docks. A few empty cans lay in the boat and around his feet, and he's not the only one getting sloshed as he prepares a boat to head out. The other fishermen seem to be having a merry time of it as well.
  8. [17:39:01] [~castfromhp] Poe you spy the same coolers and picnic baskets, and it doesn't seem like the men with the fireworks are paying them much mind. You do vaguely recall something about watching out for something happening around in this area of town, but oh hey baguettes and sourdough and 7 grain. You've got a lot of choices around here.
  9. [17:39:42] [Poe] Baguettes yaaaaay. BET HE CAN STEAL A WHOLE BAGUETTE
  10. [17:42:01] * Basil Nods, "Yeah, just the one? Or a whole pack for th'show?" He mumbles as he grabs as many empty cans as he can. He tries to find a rubbish bin on his way towards snacks and drinks. He also tries to find something for his old man to sop up some of the booze. "The hell they even have here to eat? Bread. Oi."
  11. [17:42:11] [Poe] Poe circles around, waiting for the perfect chance to STRIKE.
  12. [17:43:36] [~castfromhp] Your old man glances down at his watch. "You're right, just five minutes til midnight. Grab two packs, and we'll shove off if ya like. Or ya can watch from the docks if it's been enough of the boat for ya today. Heh."
  13. [17:45:00] [~castfromhp] Poe you circle and circle, and the snowy wind picks up and blows the cover off one of the baskets, along with some bags of chips and pretzels that come tumbling out of the basket. The bread threatens to be blown out by the wind too.
  14. [17:45:44] [Poe] Aaaand DIVE when the bread makes an appearance~
  15. [17:46:00] [~castfromhp] Most everyone around pauses to shield their face with their arms as the snow swirls around them and bites at exposed skin.
  16. [17:46:21] [~castfromhp] Hrnnnnnnnngh roll your bird strength and stamina if you're gonna steal a WHOLE BAGUETTE
  17. [17:47:01] [Poe] 3d10
  18. [17:47:10] * DiceMaid-9001 (DiceMaid-9@sux-EADD5C74) has joined #GlassdellIC
  19. [17:47:12] [~castfromhp] (whoops)
  20. [17:47:14] [Poe] 3d10
  21. [17:47:14] [DiceMaid-9001] Poe, 3d10: 16 [3d10=2,9,5]
  22. [17:47:19] [Poe] one success
  23. [17:47:23] [Poe] I thikn
  24. [17:47:24] [Poe] think
  25. [17:47:57] [Poe] yep
  26. [17:48:30] [~castfromhp] Indeed it is. Somehow, with great effort, you're able to drag the baguette out of the basket, though it's hard to -fly- with something like this. You can sorta drag it along the ground. Dex + stealth if you want to sneaky sneak away with it.
  27. [17:48:46] * Aori_Radidjiu (Revolution@sux-C7259C95.hsd1.in.comcast.net) has joined #GlassdellIC
  28. [17:49:03] [~castfromhp] Or dex larceny if you'd like
  29. [17:49:17] [Poe] 7d10 either way
  30. [17:49:17] [DiceMaid-9001] Poe, either way: 35 [7d10=3,5,4,8,7,1,7]
  31. [17:49:21] [Poe] one success
  32. [17:49:30] [Poe] at least I'm consistent V:
  33. [17:51:34] * Basil "Aw fuckin' hell." tries to shield his poor frost nipped face from the blustery chilly wind. He tries to grab at anysnacks blindly. Pretzels and chips and booze. The feast of champions.
  34. [17:51:41] [~castfromhp] Basil roll wits + composure if you're approaching the baskets and coolers.
  35. [17:52:17] [Basil] 3d10 woo
  36. [17:52:17] [DiceMaid-9001] Basil, woo: 10 [3d10=5,4,1]
  37. [17:53:12] [~castfromhp] The dock workers are too preoccupied with making sure their bootleg explosives don't blow themselves up, and Poe manages to slink on by with his prize as Basil approaches the baskets. Huh, bread's gone from them. Well, you do still have chips and pretzels and cheap shitty beer. It's not all bad.
  38. [17:56:38] * Basil Groans and rushes off back to the boat. "Rather be out there then here Da. Ready to push off?" He tosses a beer to the old man and cracks one open hisself. "S'more like piss then beer. But colder then a witches tit." He tries a grin at his dad as he looks at the soon to be cratered dock.
  39. [17:57:06] * Poe drags the bread into a relatively sheltered area (behind some crates, maybe?) and then prepares to FEAST.
  40. [17:58:34] [~castfromhp] There's an open warehouse nearby where some of the fireworks were being taken out of. You can find some shelter there that might be a bit nicer than some crates, but you spy a few seagulls perched on one of the ceiling beams within. They eye your prize with envy.
  41. [17:59:50] * Poe puffs up and clacks his beak threateningly at them. Stupid seagulls.
  42. [18:00:42] [~castfromhp] Presence + Intimidation!
  43. [18:01:02] [Poe] 1d10 oh poe isn't really all that intimidating ;_;
  44. [18:01:03] [DiceMaid-9001] Poe, oh poe isn't really all that intimidating: 1 [1d10=1]
  45. [18:01:05] [Poe] ...
  46. [18:01:08] [Poe] EXCELLENT START
  47. [18:01:38] * DamienLunas is now known as Tom
  48. [18:01:59] [~castfromhp] The seagulls raise their beaks to the sky mockingly, then two of them swoop down near you, circling around and staring at the bread.
  49. [18:03:02] [Poe] Poe debates causing problems, but then decides it's not worth it (the thrill was in stealing THE ENTIRE BAGUETTE!!!!, after all), and rips off as big a chunk as he can carry unburdened before preparing to fuck off.
  50. [18:03:34] [~castfromhp] "Oy Ben! We're all set here, start shoving off, but give us a bit to get to our boats too, natch!" The guys setting up the fireworks wave and some of them start to head for the boats as others light the fuses.
  51. [18:05:47] [~castfromhp] Your dad takes a beer and starts up the boat, tugging at the cord a few times before it gets started up, and you're off into the seas. Here, the snow blows even harder into your skin, but as you see the land shrink away, you get a better view of the fireworks all across the city, from Nivinsburgh to the Bloom.
  52. [18:06:42] [~castfromhp] The seagulls puff up their birdchests and move in, pecking at the baguette and end up fighting amongst themselves for the rest as you rip your piece off, Poe.
  53. [18:08:47] [Poe] Hah! Stupid birds. Poe brushes crumbs off his scarf, then flaps off with his prize. Oooh, the fireworks are starting....
  54. [18:09:51] * Basil Takes a deep drink and starts to get the lines ready to push off. "Oy Da, want should I to take the helm for tonight? I'm only half one down."
  55. [18:10:34] [~castfromhp] As sloshed as everyone seems to be, thankfully they don't seem to have fucked up the fireworks, though they're extraordinarily loud as they go off. Your ears ring a bit even from the boat, Basil, and most of the men left on the docks have retreated into the warehouse or are running to take cover somewhere with their fingers in their ears.
  56. [18:11:28] [~castfromhp] "Nah, I got it, I got it." Your father replies. He doesn't got it, and the next moment, he nearly drunkenly steers the boat into one of the others.
  57. [18:12:10] [~castfromhp] The driver calls out. "Hey Ben, better do as your boy says!" he grunts in response and reluctantly lets go of the wheel, giving you a hard pat on the back Basil as he leaves it open for you. It's about a minute til midnight, and the fireworks are still going strong.
  58. [18:13:46] * Basil Flinches and starts to mumble "Fuckin' hell!" before he rushes over to take the damn wheel. "I got it Da, you go grab one n'watch the show." Mumble grumble drunkensailorgrumble. He takes the boat out easy and swings it around to get a good view. Dropping the drift anchor.
  59. [18:15:19] [~castfromhp] You manage to get the boat under control again and drop anchor. The bootleg fireworks aren't quite as flashy as the ornate displays over the metropolitan areas of town, but there's something to be said about seeing a fireworks this display this close.
  60. [18:16:13] [~castfromhp] Every one in five rockets veers off at an odd angle before exploding into a burst of color, but no one seems to have been hurt yet.
  61. [18:17:06] * Basil Leans against the rails and sighs, half a grin on his face. "Not half as bad as I thought. S'nice. Did ya leave any for me?" He calls out to his dad.
  62. [18:18:20] [Poe] Aaaaaa fireworks are too close - Poe hits the deck. And by deck I mean dock. Either way, he's away from the crazy unguided missiles.
  63. [18:19:19] [~castfromhp] "Told ya son. No worth going all the way into town to see the show when you can bring it to the docks." He tosses you a beer. "Drink up, you got some catching up to do with the rest of us." He laughs and downs more of his own drink. "Wish yer ma were here to see this too though." He drunkenly mumbles.
  64. [18:19:45] [~castfromhp] Before you get a chance to reply though, you hear the chant begin from all the boats around you. "TEN! NINE! ..."
  65. [18:20:37] [~castfromhp] The seagulls have totally abandoned the rest of the baguette you snatched, Poe, once the fireworks began, fluttering off inland.
  66. [18:21:04] * Basil Starts to drink in time with the chanting. Trying to finish it when they reach zero.
  67. [18:21:14] [~castfromhp] It's still incredibly loud, but you can barely make out the dock workers and fishermen still left around carrying on in the countdown as well.
  68. [18:21:40] [Poe] Poe scarfs his bread in time as well. Why not be a little festive?
  69. [18:23:05] [~castfromhp] "...FIVE! FOUR! THREE! TWO! ONE! ZERO!" A fisherman lights one last round of poorly timed fireworks a bit after "zero", then ducks back behind a shipping crate.
  70. [18:24:49] [~castfromhp] And then the cloudy night sky is pierced by a column of prismatic light shining from the east, casting stark shadows from all the crates and the buildings around here. From deep within the city, from about the Bloom you'd guess, comes a lightshow of colors, blanketing out all the fireworks in the sky with its radiance.
  71. [18:26:04] [~castfromhp] "The hell is that? Fancy ass landlubber fireworks." Ben mumbles, slumped down a beer and covering his face. You notice he's too far gone to really realize what he's seeing here.
  72. [18:26:34] [Basil] "Holy hell."
  73. [18:26:34] [~castfromhp] The ground shakes, and the waves swell as a shockwave passes through the city, and the mistimed fireworks go flying in all directions. Poe! Dex + Athletics. Basil, Dex + Drive (Boats).
  74. [18:27:17] [Poe] 7d10
  75. [18:27:17] [DiceMaid-9001] Poe, 7d10: 29 [7d10=4,3,5,1,2,6,8]
  76. [18:27:26] [Poe] and again I am nothing if not consistent
  77. [18:28:38] [Basil] THe skill specialty gives me an extra die yeah?
  78. [18:28:41] [~castfromhp] yep
  79. [18:28:44] [Basil] 7d10
  80. [18:28:44] [DiceMaid-9001] Basil, 7d10: 25 [7d10=2,4,4,9,3,2,1]
  81. [18:29:18] [~castfromhp] Poe, one of those rockets is flying right for you! You manage to flutter up, bread still in mouth, but the blinding light is distracting. Your tail feathers are singed for a bashing damage as you barely make it out of the blast radius.
  82. [18:29:56] [Poe] ;_; muh tail
  83. [18:30:45] [~castfromhp] Some of the fireworks are flying toward the water as well, and you quickly pull up the anchor and begin steering the boat out of the way, but a smaller one slams into the bow of the boat, starting a small fire as it explodes into light!
  84. [18:31:47] [~castfromhp] You also take a bashing damage from the blast, and as both of you start to regain your vision after the blinding light display and the fireworks, you see that large portions of the docks and warehouse area are now aflame. The fires are small for now, but the remaining men on the docks are either too panicked or too drunk to do much about it.
  85. [18:32:51] [~castfromhp] Poe, give me a wits + composure check too.
  86. [18:33:10] [Poe] 5d10
  87. [18:33:10] [DiceMaid-9001] Poe, 5d10: 35 [5d10=8,5,3,9,10]
  88. [18:33:46] [~castfromhp] (roll another d10 whenever you get a 10)
  89. [18:34:01] [Poe] 1d10
  90. [18:34:01] [DiceMaid-9001] Poe, 1d10: 4 [1d10=4]
  91. [18:34:04] [Poe] (oh right :3c
  92. [18:34:04] [Poe] )
  93. [18:36:20] * Basil Rubs his eyes and tries to see if the ship is sinking. "Oy. Da. We need to dock. You up to it?"
  94. [18:36:37] [~castfromhp] You hear a scream from the warehouse, and peering over, you see a serpentine black form slither out, about the size of a school bus. It has red pinpricks on the front like little beady eyes, and its front opens up in a huge gaping maw, lined with rows of glistening black teeth. It swoops down and bites down into one of the drunken men, who barely leaps out of the way to have only his leg mauled.
  95. [18:37:59] [Poe] Well, damn. Poe somewhat regretfully tosses the rest of his BREADS away and prepares for combat!
  96. [18:38:21] [~castfromhp] It's not sinking, but you'd better get that fire put out.
  97. [18:39:20] [~castfromhp] Your dad gets to his feet shakily and spies the fire. "Holy shit!"
  98. [18:40:21] [~castfromhp] Poe roll your initiative if you're fighting this thing! It's just 1d10 + initiative rather than a dicepool.
  99. [18:40:38] [Poe] 1d10+6
  100. [18:40:39] [DiceMaid-9001] Poe, 1d10+6: 10 [1d10=4]
  101. [18:41:42] [~castfromhp] 1d10+9
  102. [18:41:43] [DiceMaid-9001] castfromhp, 1d10+9: 17 [1d10=8]
  103. [18:44:07] [~castfromhp] As you get closer, you see within the warehouse that the large eel-like creature is coming out of a large set of metal doors from the back of the warehouse. They've been cracked open and covered with some film of black energy. From within is a blue glow, and odd machinery looking like it's right out of a steampunk convention is littered on either side, covered with the same soft blue glow. Some of it slinks off the machine and
  104. [18:44:07] [~castfromhp] floats up into you.
  105. [18:45:23] [~castfromhp] Your scarf is suddenly weighed down by something, and you hear a metallic clatter.
  106. [18:46:15] [~castfromhp] Meanwhile Basil, the boat is on fire, and you see flames starting to engulf the docks as well. What do?
  107. [18:47:05] [~castfromhp] Your dad stumbles to the side and throws a bucket roughly at you and starts to slosh sea water sloppily over the growing fire on the boat. It kind of splashes everywhere, not very coordinated.
  108. [18:47:19] * castfromhp has changed the topic to: Gulper Eel Shadow > Poe
  109. [18:48:40] [~castfromhp] You are a bird Poe. This grotesque creature thing hasn't yet taken notice of you, but it's certainly making a mess of the warehouse and biting into more drunken men. The fire begins to spread as its long tail whacks a few flaming crates into other supplies in the warehouse, setting them aflame too.
  110. [18:49:26] [~castfromhp] A tingle of energy surges up through your scarf, and your teeny birdvoice rings in your head. "Per...so...na"
  111. [18:49:39] * Basil "Ohshit." Starts to try and use the bucket and slosh the fire. "DA! Go take the helm. Get us to the docks. For the love of Christ, go be useful and let me do this. Get us over there. Gonowfukkinhell." Continues to try and drown the fire as he mostly yells at himself and his father.
  112. [18:50:56] [~castfromhp] Roll Dex + Survival Basil! Your dad drops the bucket and stumbles for the helm, taking the steering wheel in his hands. The boat starts off again toward shore, though is wobbly.
  113. [18:52:40] [Basil] 6d10
  114. [18:52:40] [DiceMaid-9001] Basil, 6d10: 40 [6d10=1,7,7,6,9,10]
  115. [18:52:46] [Basil] 1d10
  116. [18:52:46] [DiceMaid-9001] Basil, 1d10: 6 [1d10=6]
  117. [18:54:22] [Poe] Oh. Well. Well, this was very, very interesting. If Poe could smirk, he totally would. As it is, he just glances about to make sure no one's paying attention (they probably ain't), and echoes the teeny birdvoice in his head. "Per...sona."
  118. [18:54:28] [~castfromhp] Being as you aren't nearly as drunk as your father, and the fire's still small, you manage to put it out in short order, but as you look up from a job well done, you see the black monstrosity flail its body as it slams into a set of crates in pursuit of another victim. Make a rank 6 unnatural stress check.
  119. [18:54:58] [~castfromhp] (Basil, that's a resolve + composure check with a TN of 3 successes. If you spend wilpower, you get an additonal auto-success in addition to the normal +3 dice bonus)
  120. [18:56:22] [Poe] (and is it still my turn to make an attack or is it CUTSCENE TIEM)
  121. [18:56:35] [Basil] (Yeeeah lets do that. So. total that would be 6d10+1 auto success?)
  122. [18:56:36] [~castfromhp] The giant eel monster biting people and thrashing about has everyone's attention pretty solidly, and they all look amazingly drunk otherwise. A blue glow completely envelops you, and a single fleshy eye opens itself on your scarf and blinks a couple times. It then opens wide, straining itself as black feathers begin to fall out. (you can announce an attack or any other action after this bit)
  123. [18:56:51] [~castfromhp] (if you spend a willpower Beard you get the auto success yeah)
  124. [18:57:00] [Basil] 6d10
  125. [18:57:01] [DiceMaid-9001] Basil, 6d10: 33 [6d10=8,4,6,1,7,7]
  126. [18:57:10] [Basil] (With my luck I will need it.)
  127. [18:57:56] [~castfromhp] Little talons follow after, clawing their way out of your scarf, Poe, and soon two ravens much your size push their way out of your scarf and raise their beaks to the sky, cawwing, before disappearing in a flash of blue. Take your action!
  128. [18:59:10] [Poe] spending one resonance, activating Memorial Rage
  129. [18:59:28] [Poe] that's str+stealth+rage if I'm reading this right
  130. [18:59:41] [~castfromhp] That's only two successes total. The sight of this creature is overwhelming, Basil, and you start to feel dizzy just looking at it. Gain a failed notch in Unnatural and choose frenzy, paralysis or panic and RP it out
  131. [19:00:03] [~castfromhp] (Memorial is ACademics I think lemme check)
  132. [19:00:12] [Poe] (you're right, I meant stillness)
  133. [19:00:13] [~castfromhp] (stillness is stealth though)
  134. [19:00:13] [Poe] (herp)
  135. [19:00:22] [Poe] 6d10 CAW
  136. [19:00:23] [DiceMaid-9001] Poe, CAW: 38 [6d10=7,8,5,8,3,7]
  137. [19:00:31] [~castfromhp] (you can use int or presence instead of str for rage btw)
  138. [19:00:39] [Poe] (oh)
  139. [19:00:55] [~castfromhp] You subtract defense by the way, which is 4 in this case.
  140. [19:00:57] [Poe] 8d10 caw then
  141. [19:00:58] [DiceMaid-9001] Poe, caw then: 39 [8d10=10,4,1,5,1,7,8,3]
  142. [19:01:01] [Poe] 1d10
  143. [19:01:02] [DiceMaid-9001] Poe, 1d10: 10 [1d10=10]
  144. [19:01:04] [Poe] 1d10
  145. [19:01:04] [DiceMaid-9001] Poe, 1d10: 10 [1d10=10]
  146. [19:01:06] [Poe] 1d10
  147. [19:01:06] [DiceMaid-9001] Poe, 1d10: 1 [1d10=1]
  148. [19:01:15] [Poe] oh
  149. [19:01:15] [Poe] shit
  150. [19:01:24] [~castfromhp] Eh, we'll just say it cut off the last four dice. Still 3 successes!
  151. [19:01:26] [Poe] and I was so proud of that roll too
  152. [19:01:28] [Poe] okay V:
  153. [19:02:06] [~castfromhp] You lash out at the eel with a supernatural energy! Fluff your attack.
  154. [19:02:47] [Poe] There's a flash of light, and time seems to stop for the briefest of instants before the Shadow writhes, reeling from an unseen attacker!
  155. [19:03:22] [~castfromhp] Meanwhile Basil, your father doesn't seem to be faring any better at seeing this thing, and he's completely frozen at the wheel. The boat's gonna crash into the docks if no one does something!
  156. [19:03:58] * Basil Just freezes bucket in mid toss. His eyes glued to the creepy slitheirng maw creature as it makes the rounds, his eyes dart and search and find its victims. His tounge tries to form words but is locked in place along with his jaw. Stock still as a statue as he watches the beast/
  157. [19:04:08] [~castfromhp] (gonna wait on Beard here before going back to the Shadow's turn since his actions are essentially proceeding round by round here too)
  158. [19:04:46] [Poe] (makes sense)
  159. [19:06:54] * Basil Tries to shake off the horrorterror of the beast as the dock speeds closer. He tries to get to the helm shove his father out of the way and slow down and turn the boat before impact.
  160. [19:08:03] [~castfromhp] Dex + Drive again, at a -2 penalty from being shaken by the horrorterror!
  161. [19:08:26] [Basil] 5d10
  162. [19:08:27] [DiceMaid-9001] Basil, 5d10: 29 [5d10=5,7,3,8,6]
  163. [19:10:26] [~castfromhp] You manage to turn the boat to avoid a full speed collision with the docks, but it's not enough to stop the impact entirely. The side of the boat slams into the docks, and you're sent flying out to land on the hard ground with a thud. As you open your eyes again after the impact, you find yourself staring up right at the serpentine shadow before a flash of blue fills your eyes.
  164. [19:12:00] [~castfromhp] When the blue recedes, you see a ring of keys clutched in your hand, and your own voice rings in your head "Per...so...na"
  165. [19:15:17] [Basil] "W-what. Persona. Uhuhuh. Oh Christ above." He ends up staring into the huge maw of the beast his own mouth almost mimicing it.
  166. [19:19:14] [~castfromhp] As you say the words, a great mist rises up from the ground and envelops you, followed by the snow all around melting into water that rises into the form of a bearded man, clutching a boat oar. With a blue flash, it disappears! Poe and Basil, a voice once again calls to you in your head, a mixture of your own voice and something more primal. "Thou art I, and I am thou. From the sea of thy soul, I come forth."
  167. [19:19:51] [~castfromhp] ...Though this doesn't help much with the eel creature. Unable to tell where its last injury came from, it decides to bite down on Basil!
  168. [19:19:57] [~castfromhp] 6d10
  169. [19:19:59] [DiceMaid-9001] castfromhp, 6d10: 24 [6d10=3,8,7,2,2,2]
  170. [19:20:55] [~castfromhp] It looks for a second like it's going to swallow you whole, but a sudden tension causes it to fall short, merely giving you a nasty gash down your back with a sharp tooth as it's violently pulled back. Take two lethal!
  171. [19:21:04] [~castfromhp] Roll your initiative now Basil, and both of you roll wits + composure.
  172. [19:21:18] [Poe] 5d10
  173. [19:21:19] [DiceMaid-9001] Poe, 5d10: 34 [5d10=3,10,2,9,10]
  174. [19:21:22] [Poe] 2d10
  175. [19:21:22] [DiceMaid-9001] Poe, 2d10: 11 [2d10=3,8]
  176. [19:21:26] [~castfromhp] (hot damn)
  177. [19:21:37] [Poe] (poe has seen some shit okay)
  178. [19:22:04] [Basil] 3d10 Witsnshit
  179. [19:22:05] [DiceMaid-9001] Basil, Witsnshit: 17 [3d10=9,1,7]
  180. [19:22:32] [Basil] 1d10+4
  181. [19:22:33] [DiceMaid-9001] Basil, 1d10+4: 7 [1d10=3]
  182. [19:23:01] [~castfromhp] Poe has seen some shit indeed, and he notices as the eel creature tried to bite down on Basil, it was trying to thrash its way fully out of the doorway you saw. The machinery near it creaked, and the doors seemed to close a bit on it, drawing it back. But the glow around the machines is rapidly fading.
  183. [19:23:07] * castfromhp has changed the topic to: Gulper Eel Shadow > Poe > Basil
  184. [19:23:34] [~castfromhp] Poe your action is up!
  185. [19:24:11] [Poe] Hmm
  186. [19:24:32] [Poe] it doesn't seem like I can do much about the machinery myself so
  187. [19:24:42] [Poe] hoe does one make a called shot here?
  188. [19:25:01] [~castfromhp] You take a penalty depending on the location.
  189. [19:25:26] [~castfromhp] -2 for arms and legs, -3 for head or heart, -4 for hand, -5 for eyes.
  190. [19:26:23] [Poe] ehh, with my dicepool not so good
  191. [19:26:31] [Poe] I'll just attack! With my itty bitty talons!
  192. [19:26:31] [~castfromhp] Remember you can always use an all-out attack and willpower to add to your attack pool.
  193. [19:26:35] [Poe] 4d10
  194. [19:26:36] [~castfromhp] Okay, 4 defense!
  195. [19:26:36] [DiceMaid-9001] Poe, 4d10: 14 [4d10=6,3,2,3]
  196. [19:26:44] [Poe] or I'll miss like a chump!
  197. [19:27:01] * Poe bravely hurls himself at the eel....and bounces off. Whoops.
  198. [19:27:12] [~castfromhp] Basil!
  199. [19:27:45] [~castfromhp] A rush of knowledge comes with the energy surging through you, by the way. You have an intuitive sense of how to activate your Manifestations and your personal power, as well as the use of Resonance in general.
  200. [19:29:19] [Basil] The big eely is trying to get away from the machines yeah?
  201. [19:29:56] [~castfromhp] Yeah, it looks like it's struggling to get out of the doorway and it still partially stuck in it.
  202. [19:29:59] [Basil] OR is atleast moving away from them?
  203. [19:30:16] [~castfromhp] With the machines sort of on each side and attached into the doorway too.
  204. [19:31:22] * Basil Basil throws out his awareness into the machines near the door and tries to activate them. Marionette Industrial.
  205. [19:31:43] [~castfromhp] Manipulation + Crafts + Marionette!
  206. [19:31:47] [Basil] 8d10
  207. [19:31:48] [DiceMaid-9001] Basil, 8d10: 43 [8d10=2,8,5,1,8,10,6,3]
  208. [19:31:52] [Basil] 1d10
  209. [19:31:53] [DiceMaid-9001] Basil, 1d10: 9 [1d10=9]
  210. [19:33:30] [~castfromhp] You manage to seize control of the odd machinery, and as your mind connects with it, you feel it trying to draw some of your newfound energy into it. Your mental presence lets you identify this as a closing and lock mechanism for the door, though it feels like it's been strained.
  211. [19:34:09] [~castfromhp] Do you let the energy flow through, or do you tug back?
  212. [19:34:57] [Basil] Flow through.
  213. [19:35:49] [~castfromhp] The cogs around the machine start to turn and turn, and the door slowly starts to close, though not all the way yet. As it does, the eel creature begins to shrink, now merely the size of an SUV rather than a large bus.
  214. [19:36:18] [~castfromhp] It rams itself into a pile of crates in a panic, then a set of metal barrels, then the crates again, sending the debris flying everywhere. Both of you roll dex + Athletics!
  215. [19:37:09] [Basil] 6d10
  216. [19:37:09] [DiceMaid-9001] Basil, 6d10: 33 [6d10=8,1,4,5,6,9]
  217. [19:38:14] [~castfromhp] A metal barrel flies your way and grazes your head as you duck down. At that speed though, it still hurts quite a bit, and you take 1 bashing damage!
  218. [19:38:45] [Poe] 7d10
  219. [19:38:46] [DiceMaid-9001] Poe, 7d10: 35 [7d10=1,9,10,2,5,7,1]
  220. [19:38:49] [Poe] 1d10
  221. [19:38:49] [DiceMaid-9001] Poe, 1d10: 8 [1d10=8]
  222. [19:39:17] * Aori_Radidjiu has quit (Quit: Only the brave survive in this world. But as they say, only the kind are worthy of survival!)
  223. [19:39:24] [~castfromhp] Poe, you fly around all the flying crates and debris with ease! Your turn's up!
  224. [19:40:33] [Poe] 4d10 more brave attacking!
  225. [19:40:33] [DiceMaid-9001] Poe, more brave attacking!: 21 [4d10=1,2,10,8]
  226. [19:40:36] [Poe] 1d10
  227. [19:40:37] [DiceMaid-9001] Poe, 1d10: 8 [1d10=8]
  228. [19:41:36] [~castfromhp] With its smaller and weakened form, you strike it easily, talons tearing into its shadowy body and tearing out chunks of black flesh and ichor which dissolve into smoke as it hits the ground.
  229. [19:41:52] [~castfromhp] Basil!
  230. [19:42:22] [Poe] "CAW!"
  231. [19:43:23] [Basil] "Crazybird!"
  232. [19:43:41] [Basil] Let's close this door.
  233. [19:43:55] [Basil] Another roll?
  234. [19:43:58] [~castfromhp] Yup!
  235. [19:44:26] [Basil] 8d10
  236. [19:44:27] [DiceMaid-9001] Basil, 8d10: 47 [8d10=5,4,3,10,4,2,9,10]
  237. [19:44:31] [Basil] 2d10
  238. [19:44:32] [DiceMaid-9001] Basil, 2d10: 14 [2d10=4,10]
  239. [19:44:36] [Basil] 1d10
  240. [19:44:37] [DiceMaid-9001] Basil, 1d10: 3 [1d10=3]
  241. [19:47:31] [~castfromhp] With another surge of energy, the cogs and gears turn, and the doors slide shut, neatly cutting the tail off the shadow eel, which shrinks again, now to about the size of a grown man. The mechanisms around the door glow again and then begin to fold up into themselves in impossible ways, compressing into a glowing blue cube that then fades into a deep black. With a click, a keyhole appears on the front of the box, and the door
  242. [19:47:31] [~castfromhp] looks as normal aside from this new addition.
  243. [19:47:59] [~castfromhp] The eel, finally taking notice of Poe now, lunges for the bird in desperation, opening its now considerably smaller maw wide!
  244. [19:48:13] [~castfromhp] 8d10
  245. [19:48:14] [DiceMaid-9001] castfromhp, 8d10: 49 [8d10=2,3,6,9,6,8,9,6]
  246. [19:48:34] [Poe] (did you subtract my defense)
  247. [19:48:49] [~castfromhp] Three lethal as it chomps down on you. Remember you can spend resonance on a 1:1 basis to bulwark against damage. (yes)
  248. [19:48:57] [Poe] (thought so)
  249. [19:49:24] [Poe] and yeah, I'm going to do that, especially since I'm not actually using my purse owner to fight V:
  250. [19:49:27] [Poe] -3 resonance
  251. [19:49:48] [~castfromhp] It has no defense for the rest of the round!
  252. [19:50:23] * Aori_Radidjiu (Revolution@sux-C7259C95.hsd1.in.comcast.net) has joined #GlassdellIC
  253. [19:51:13] [Poe] oh boy
  254. [19:52:01] [~castfromhp] and you're up Poe
  255. [19:52:47] [Poe] let's do an all-out attack!
  256. [19:52:58] [~castfromhp] (if you've used your defense already this round you can't do that :<)
  257. [19:53:09] [Poe] (oh)
  258. [19:53:14] [Poe] (let's not, then)
  259. [19:53:16] [Poe] 4d10
  260. [19:53:17] [DiceMaid-9001] Poe, 4d10: 24 [4d10=2,3,9,10]
  261. [19:53:18] [Poe] 1d10
  262. [19:53:20] [DiceMaid-9001] Poe, 1d10: 7 [1d10=7]
  263. [19:53:30] [~castfromhp] It has no defense this round, so add back the rest of your attack pool too.
  264. [19:53:57] * Doxy has quit (Ping timeout)
  265. [19:54:49] [~castfromhp] So 4d10 more
  266. [19:54:53] [Poe] 4d10
  267. [19:54:53] [DiceMaid-9001] Poe, 4d10: 24 [4d10=8,7,4,5]
  268. [19:55:15] [~castfromhp] You rip more flesh from the Shadow, and...
  269. [19:55:17] [~castfromhp] 3d10
  270. [19:55:19] [DiceMaid-9001] castfromhp, 3d10: 11 [3d10=4,5,2]
  271. [19:55:45] [~castfromhp] It collapses in a heap, shrinking even smaller until it dissolves in a sizzle of foul smelling gas.
  272. [19:57:08] [~castfromhp] As you both watch the creature fade away, you hear the distant ring of police sirens, probably attracted by the fire and out-of-control fireworks here.
  273. [19:57:55] * Poe lands less than elegantly on the ground and goes to look over his poor burnt tailfeathers. ;v;
  274. [19:58:14] * Basil Start to, or rather resumes his almost incoherent babbling to himself. "Whatthefukkinhell.WhatwasthatwhatdidIdowhowasthatwhaywhy."
  275. [19:58:17] [Basil] "Bird."
  276. [19:59:08] [~castfromhp] The warehouse doesn't seem to be in danger of burning down presently, as the heavy falling snow has blanketed some of the flames. If you take the time now to look down at your keys, Poe's ring of keys has two sets of keys that look like they'd go to an antique dresser, one of them a copper with a green oxidized crust, and the other caked with a dust that just won't rub off.
  277. [19:59:54] * Poe tries not to be dismayed that neither of them are actually shiny.
  278. [20:00:11] [~castfromhp] Er, two keys that look like that. Basil's keys look like they've been modelled after fishing lures, both with bobbers for handles. One of them is slick and wet, and the other has grooves along it that reveal little gears and cogs on the inside of the bobber.
  279. [20:00:30] [Poe] He does look up when Basil calls out, though.
  280. [20:00:35] [~castfromhp] And both of you have this on your ring of keys: http://i.imgur.com/HtyJM.jpg
  281. [20:02:40] [~castfromhp] All around you lay drunk folk, many of them bleeding from being bitten by the shadowy eel or hit by sharp flying debris. There's a faint glow of light, and two solid cards flutter down from the air and land on your key rings. They're face down, with this on the back glancing up at you: http://i.imgur.com/Ji7SR0l.jpg
  282. [20:03:02] [~castfromhp] On the front of each card...
  283. [20:03:18] [~castfromhp] (and now probs to wait for Beard to get back)
  284. [20:04:14] * Poe fumbles with his card a bit before turning it face up and contemplating it.
  285. [20:12:50] * Basil shakily flips his card over.
  286. [20:16:42] [~castfromhp] Wits + Composure both of you by the way
  287. [20:16:51] * Basil Looks around, and tries to gauge how close the sirens are. "Go or stay. Ugh."
  288. [20:16:59] [Poe] 5d10
  289. [20:17:00] [DiceMaid-9001] Poe, 5d10: 18 [5d10=6,4,1,1,6]
  290. [20:17:03] [Poe] welp
  291. [20:17:03] [Basil] 3d10
  292. [20:17:03] [DiceMaid-9001] Basil, 3d10: 16 [3d10=4,3,9]
  293. [20:18:20] [~castfromhp] The sirens sound like they're a ways off still. Basil, you catch out of the corner of your eye some flickering. It's the black lock that's hovering over the front of the door to the warehouse office. A crack runs down the side, and it seems to fizzle every few seconds, letting off small black and blue sparks.
  294. [20:21:23] * Basil stumbles over to the lock. "Ugh. This was a door. Yeah. No it's a lock now. It should stay that way, natch. Yeah. Right." He fumbles and stumbles to get the keys and back and takes the third key, the masked key bringing it to the lock.
  295. [20:23:20] * Basil And tries to lock the damn thing.
  296. [20:24:28] [~castfromhp] It seems like it was already locked, though as you insert your key and try to turn it in the lock, you get the feeling like this lock is very fragile right now.
  297. [20:24:53] [~castfromhp] Like it might snap if you turn a key too hard in it or tried to put force on it.
  298. [20:25:19] * Basil "Oh." removes the key and scrambled the hell away.
  299. [20:25:49] [~castfromhp] It continues to fizzle and spark.
  300. [20:26:59] [~castfromhp] But nothing more than that. Some of the dock workers now are beginning to wake up, staring around in shock and disbelief at the scene around them. "G-get up, we have to put out the fire!" one of them yells, and you can hear scrambling from around the warehouse. There are some screams as the mangled bodies are discovered. The sirens sound like they're getting closer.
  301. [20:29:33] * Poe finally gets up again, and flaps after Basil, eventually going in for the AWKWARD SHOULDER PERCH!.
  302. [20:31:16] [Poe] Too bad he hasn't informed Basil of the AWKWARD SHOULDER PERCH!.
  303. [20:31:28] * Basil Is in midlurch away and freezes. "No. Not. No." And resumes his lurch ignoring the bird.
  304. [20:32:22] [Poe] Aaaand Poe goes right on by. :C
  305. [20:33:18] * Basil "Killerbird. Crazy." Heads out of the warehouse looking to see if his father made it out alright.
  306. [20:33:55] [Poe] "I do beg your pardon."
  307. [20:33:56] [~castfromhp] "Hey, Basil." Neville, a tall lanky man and one of the fellow fishermen you know and see regularly, stops you with a hand on your shoulder as you start heading out.
  308. [20:34:27] * Poe decides to bail at that point.
  309. [20:35:24] [~castfromhp] He blinks a few times at talkingburd and squints, but it's clear he's still quite intoxicated, like most everyone here. He shakes his head as Poe flies off. "The fuck?"
  310. [20:35:34] * Basil Freezes again. He looks after Poe. " What. Oh. Oh, hey Nev."
  311. [20:37:21] [Basil] "S'a crazy night, right? Think all the smoke and fire playin' tricks. Need to get Da and head home. Get some sleep. You too right?"
  312. [20:37:28] [~castfromhp] Then he turns his attention back to Basil, rubbing his temples. "Fucking bootleg fireworks, am I right? Listen, you've got school, right? Can't let the cops see you here. Take these," he shoves some keys at you, "and head round back and through the gate." he nods toward the back of the warehouse and stumbles forward, catching himself on you.
  313. [20:37:45] [~castfromhp] "We'll check on your pops." He slurs and stumbles backwards.
  314. [20:38:52] [Basil] "Ri-right, thanks Nev." Takes the keys b-lines for the back of the warehouse and out of there.
  315. [20:40:20] [~castfromhp] Neville stumbles off toward your boat, and you make for the gate around back and out of the docks area. As you leave, you see a few of the more lucid men and women starting to drag the injured to safety and begin to work on the fire as the sirens get louder and louder.
  316. [20:41:36] [~castfromhp] As you're flying away Poe, you could catch sight of Basil's retreat if you glance back that way at all.
  317. [20:41:51] [Poe] Yep. Time to do some stalking V:
  318. [20:43:58] [~castfromhp] Basil, you're bleeding from the gash on your back, and you've just seen some sort of otherworldly horror torn apart by a bird with a scarf. Where are you headed now?
  319. [20:44:53] * Basil Shakes his head as he starts walking. "Home...Home or the hospital."he tries to head home, avoiding eye contact as best he can. He begins to mumble to himself that this is stupid and he should head to the hospital.
  320. [20:46:01] [~castfromhp] Home is a lot closer for sure, as even the smaller clinics are a bit further into Allerdale from the docks than your house is.
  321. [20:46:57] * Basil Definitely starts heading home. He holds the keys in one hand and slipped his card in his backpocket.
  322. [20:47:35] [~castfromhp] dex stealth if you're following him Poe, and wits composure Basil
  323. [20:48:51] [Basil] 3d10
  324. [20:48:51] [DiceMaid-9001] Basil, 3d10: 12 [3d10=4,7,1]
  325. [20:49:07] [Basil] (Poor Basil. Gonna get sneaked on all the time.)
  326. [20:55:59] [~castfromhp] (Anise did you disappear ;o;)
  327. [20:56:08] [Poe] (sorry)
  328. [20:56:16] [Poe] (got dragged away unexpectedly)
  329. [20:56:20] [~castfromhp] (s'alright)
  330. [20:56:24] [Poe] 7d10
  331. [20:56:25] [DiceMaid-9001] Poe, 7d10: 36 [7d10=7,3,8,9,4,4,1]
  332. [20:57:02] * Poe will do his tiny bird best to make sure Basil doesn't get hit by a bus or something!
  333. [20:58:41] [~castfromhp] Basil doesn't spot sneakyburd as he makes his way home! It seems like there's quite a ruckus in the city as you go by, and you get some looks for being injured. But with what happened with the giant pillar of light in the Bloom and the obvious fire from over in the docks area, it seems like no one's particularly unoccupied enough to stop you or ask questions.
  334. [21:04:20] * Basil Does his best to avoid anyone anyway in his terrible state of mind. Taking a break he ends up leaning against an ally wall to catch his breath. "Oy."
  335. [21:08:08] [~castfromhp] It's quiet here, most people in the more urban parts of the city celebrating if they aren't spending a quiet new year's at home.
  336. [21:08:32] [Poe] Sneakybird, who is terrible at being sneaky when there is a dramatic moment to be had, lands in front of Basil and does some sort of weird bird bow sort of thing.
  337. [21:10:57] * Basil Is the most eloquent "Bird. Alright. Okay. Are you the same bird? The bird who I don't think talked. I am talking to a bird. Oy."

  339. [21:13:48] [Poe] "Caw? Caw caw?" It's probably the same bird. How many birds have highly fashionable scarves?
  340. [21:18:53] [Basil] "Alright. So. Uh. Bird. Right. Christ above. Talkin' to a bird. Do you need something? Can I help you? I need to get some sleep. Maybe get stinkin' drunk. I don't have any treats."
  341. [21:21:52] [Poe] "A 'Thank you, oh wise and handsome savior, for saving my personage from the Shadow Menace' might be nice, I suppose. Good job not getting killed, by the way."
  342. [21:26:32] * Basil Starts rubbing his face. "Yeah. Arright. This makes-noo. No it dosen't but I'll talk to it."
  343. [21:26:39] [Basil] "Thank You. What's a shadow?"
  344. [21:28:07] [Poe] "That thing at the docks. Kind of eelish, way too big?" Poe gets a faraway look in his eyes. "I could, I believe, do with some jellied eels right now."
  345. [21:32:28] * Basil Bursts out into laughter, sliding down the wall to a sitting position. He winces but laughs the entire way down. "So shadows are giant crazy eels. Right. Okay. Now I 'ave powers? And you, the Talkin' Bird of Glassdell and 'is side kick Fisherson get to fight them? Issat it?"
  346. [21:32:39] [Basil] "I'm sorry but this is too much. No offense."
  347. [21:34:28] [Poe] "Oooh, I quite like that. But, well, I suppose that's good enough for now?" Burdshrug. "Of course, of course. My apologies."
  348. [21:35:45] [Basil] "D'you 'ave a real name? Or am I goin' to have to call you Talkin' Bird?"
  349. [21:36:54] [Poe] "Hmmm. You may call me...Poe. Yes. Poe." Poe nods to himself and glances expectantly up at Basil.
  350. [21:37:39] * Basil Holds out a hand "Basil, er Basil Cartwright."
  351. [21:39:14] [Poe] Okay, so he wasn't going to tell him how utterly clever he was for that one. Pity. "You will forgive me if I can't exactly shake."
  352. [21:42:47] * Basil Blinks "Right, right. No hands and all. Nice to me you, Bir-Poe. This, this is all crazy. I think. I'm just gonna sit for a bit. Get my head on straight. Poe. Talking raven."
  353. [21:44:40] [Poe] "Nevermore~"
  354. [21:45:23] [Basil] (Annnnd I think we should call it. My friends are stealing me soon. ;-;)
  355. [21:45:28] [Poe] (okay)
  356. [21:45:33] [Poe] (that seems like a good stopping point anyway)
