- Tom stretched out on his couch. A gentle spring breeze passed through the wind chimes hung outside the house. An Illumise sat at the foot of the couch, her eyes half open.
- “Thank goodness it’s finally spring, eh Illumise?” asked Tom.
- The purple bug type paid no mind to her trainer, focusing on the television instead. Tom rolled his eyes.
- “You are the laziest thing.”
- The sun sat high in the afternoon sky when Tom took his reluctant bug out to train. He’d taken her to a nearby patch of tall grass where various wild pokemon scampered about. Tom pointed towards a Shroomish.
- “Illumise, attack!”
- Illumise ignored her trainer’s command, instead falling onto her back. The Shroomish wandered off into the grass as Tom yelled at his pokemon.
- “You little punk! Comeon!”
- Illumise turned her head towards her trainer, giving him a pleading look.
- “Lemme guess, you just wanna stay home and eat junk food, right?”
- The Illumise smiled and shook her head yes.
- “Illumise,” said Tom as he squatted to her level, “you love me, right?”
- Illumise nodded.
- “Well, battling is important to me. I want people to know me as a great trainer, and you as a great pokemon.”
- Tom placed a hand on Illumise’s forehead.
- “But we can’t get there if we don’t train. Do you understand where I’m coming from?”
- Illumise frowned.
- “Fine, have it your way.”

- A weight fell onto Tom’s chest while he slept. His eyes snapped open to see Illumise laying on his chest.
- “What the hell Illumise?”
- The bug type smiled and burrowed her head into her trainer’s chest. She nuzzled her cheeks into his abdomen for a few moments before looking back up.
- Tom was at a loss for words. He laid there for a few moments before patting his pokemon on the head.
- “Uhh, I love you too, Illumise. Now could I please get some sleep?”
- The purple pokemon hopped off her trainer’s chest with something of a huff. After waiting a few moments for the weirdness of what just happened to wear off, Tom went back to sleep.

- The sky was a bit overcast the next morning. The weather report predicted rain and thunderstorms later on that day. Tom sat at the kitchen table, digging into a box of cereal. Illumise watched TV in the living room.
- As Tom finished his breakfast he heard Illumise call to him.
- “Ill-illum,” she said.
- “That’s weird,” Tom thought to himself, “she rarely makes a peep.”
- When Tom walked into the living room, he came upon Illumise spread out on the couch. Something looked off about her, though. A look of horror crept onto his face as the realization hit him. Her genitals were clearly visible.
- Tom just stood there, mouth agape.
- He watched as his pokemon began to feel herself down there, all the while keeping eye-contact with him. He felt slightly sick at watching his own, beloved pokemon masturbate in front of him.
- Almost out of instinct, Tom ran from the living room.
- Illumise watched as her trainer fled. Was she not good enough for him? Did she do something to upset him? That’s when it hit her.
- She knew what she had to do.

- Tom sat in the kitchen, trying to make sense of what he’d just seen. Various thoughts flooded through his brain, each going a mile a minute. His head pounded.
- With a slight hesitation, Tom went back into the living room to check on Illumise. She was still his pokemon, afterall.
- Illumise was not on the couch. In fact, she wasn’t in the living room at all. Tom checked the entire house to find his pokemon, but it seemed that she had just vanished.
- A clap of thunder sounded from outside. On a hunch, Tom donned his jacket, the only rain protection he had, and went out to the grass patch from yesterday.

- Illumise violently beat on a Shroomish. Her body was soaking wet, but she didn’t care. She had to prove herself to him. She’d already fought several wild pokemon in her short time out, and her body had started to tire. The rain splattered against her exoskeleton, drenching her further.
- Tom rushed forward as Illumise took a blow from a zigzagoon that had ganged up on her. He called to her, urging her to stop. Illumise turned her head right as the zigzagoon slammed into her sideways. She fell over with the furry pokemon on top of her. The zigzagoon sunk its teeth into her side.
- Tom pulled out a pokeball and threw it at the wild pokemon. It transformed energy and was sucked into the ball, which wiggled. Tom didn’t care if he caught the pokemon or not, though. He rushed over to Illumise and picked her off of the ground. The pokeball busted back open just as Tom dashed away with Illumise in his arms.

- Tom laid his Illumise on the couch. He sprayed medicine onto her dangerously deep wounds while looking into her eyes. She weakly opened her eyelids to look back at her trainer.
- “Don’t worry Illumise, I’ll get you to a pokemon center as soon as the rain dies down. Just hang in there.”
- Illumise smiled. What a good mate he would’ve made. Her blood loss finally caught up to her as she passed on.
