- Drama CD 0 Track 1 The History Buffs Choose Senshado!
- Erwin (ERW), Caesar (CAE), Saemonza (SAE), Oryou (ORY)
- (ORY) The kotatsu is warm, zeyo...
- (SAE) Caesar... get me a tangerine!
- (CAE) Just one?
- (ORY) Me too!
- (ERW) And me!
- (CAE) Okay, I'll get them... Here.
- (SAE) Thanks...!
- (CAE) Uwaa, the kitchen was so cold!
- (ORY) The sea's still pretty cold, zeyo.
- (CAE) Our house has a lot wind coming in from the cracks...
- (SAE) Moving is a pain too...
- (ERW) We've got too much stuff to move til graduation.
- (ORY) We got a lot of stuff in just one year.
- (CAE) Yeah... When we moved here we had nothing but the clothes we wore.
- (SAE) "Okite Hanjō, Nété Ichijō", "Tenka Tottémo Nigohan." or so they say.
- "Okite Hanjō, Nété Ichijō" - Awake, a person needs half a tatami mat. Asleep, a person needs a full tatami mat. You need what is absolutely necessary and nothing more.
- "Tenka Tottémo Nigohan" - If you grab the world, you will also hold the world's responsibilities. You are responsible for what you own.
- (ERW) True, but I can't bring myself to get rid of my stuff.
- (ORY) It's as she says, zeyo... It's already been a year, it's a bit nostalgic thinking back.
- (CAE) Well luckily we're all in the same class. So what are you picking for your elective?
- (ERW) We did Nindō last year, right?
- Nindō - Art of the Ninja/Way of the Ninja
- (ORY) It was nothing like what I expected it to be!
- (SAE) I was expecting something like Togakuré-ryū, Tozawa Hakunsai, Sanada Jūyūshi!
- All different art forms of Ninjas and Ninjutsu
- (ORY) Who knew it was centered around modern spies and intelligence handling...
- (CAE) There weren't even any Shurikens!
- Shuriken - Sword Hidden in Hand (Original Japanese) More commonly known in the West as Throwing Stars or Ninja Stars, though not all were thrown or unique to Ninjas.
- (ORY) Ah, in reality the Shuriken wasn't unique to the ninjas.
- (CAE) W-What! Why didn't you say that earlier!
- (ERW) Were we fooled?
- (ORY) Shurikenjutsu is part of the regular 18 Martial Arts and is a normal lesson for all warriors.
- Shuriken Jutsu - Art of the Shuriken
- (SAE) Well Shinobi no Jutsu is also part of the 18 Martial Arts.
- Shinobi no Jutsu - The Art of Stealth/Sneaking
- (ORY) There's a rumor that they added those in just to pad the numbers.
- (CAE) I see.
- (PAUSE)
- (ERW) It's obvious now...
- (ALL) Hm?
- (ERW) To be honest, I had a lot of fun!
- (SAE) The practical material they taught us really was fun.
- (ORY) Experiencing Suiton no Jutsu or Katon no Jutsu was really fun, zeyo.
- Suiton no Jutsu - The Art of Water Escape
- Katon no Jutsu - The Art of Fire
- (CAE) I didn't know there were 30 total Ton Jutsu.
- Ton Jutsu - Skills or Arts
- (ERW) Skills that use nature to hide and escape is still useful in operations today. Rommel used the climate in North Africa to his advantage.
- (CAE) Dogfighting pilots use the sun's position to gain the upper hand, and it's important to pay attention to the weather in wars of today and yesterday.
- (SAE) Yeah, but it's not something to take again.
- (ORY) Nope.
- (CAE) Okay, no Nindō this year?
- (ALL) No objections!
- (CAE) So what else is there?
- (ORY) How about Naginata?
- Naginata - Polearms
- (SAE) Naginata... What style does our school focus on?
- (ORY) It's pretty obvious. Kashima's right there. Personally I would've preferred Oguri-ryū or Hokushin Ittō-ryū.
- Kashima, Ibaraki Prefecture is the home to Kashima Shrine, known as the origin of many influential styles of Japanese swordsmanship.
- Oguri-ryū - Seigyoku Oguri-ryū shortened.
- Hokushin Ittō-ryū - A style of Naginata
- (CAE) I'm not entirely sure what you're talking about... But I'm guessing that it's not exactly what you're into?
- (ORY) Well, no, it's still interesting... But it's not exactly what I wanted either.
- (SAE) So you're saying that swords would be more your thing?
- (ORY) Pretty much.
- (SAE) And you're going to have to submit legal documents at the end?
- (ORY) Yep.
- (ERW) Well I don't know about law, but how about cultural classes?
- (ORY) Well there's Sadō, Shodō, Kadō... Uh, what else was there?
- Sadō - Way of the Tea Ceremony (There exists an incredibly extensive set of rules and steps to properly prepare, present, and consume tea.
- Shodō - Calligraphy
- Kadō - Flower Arrangement
- (CAE) And uh, Kōdō.
- Kōdō - Incense
- (ORY) Eh... I get fidgety when I have to sit down for long.
- (SAE) Agreed. Honestly moving around would fit us better.
- (CAE) It's like you two are twins or something.
- (SAE) Kōdō is high class, but Sadō is a good way of learning a warrior's heart.
- (ERW) Wait, really?
- (SAE) Yup. Actually, I do it sometimes.
- (CAE) And how is it?
- (SAE) The snacks are amazing!
- (ALL) Oh boy...
- (ORY) And Shodō and Kadō are...
- (ERW) Something more active would be better.
- (ORY) Okay... What about Sendō?
- (ERW) What's Sendō about?
- (ORY) You go on a journey of self discovery by looking into your body and soul and follow Taoist principals to become a Sennin.
- Sennin - (Taoist Definition - Immortal Mountain Wizard/Enlightened Person.)
- (CAE) Oh, you mean Rentanjutsu?
- Rentanjutsu - (Alchemy/Chinese Alchemy.)
- (ORY) No, that's Gaitanjutsu. It's about looking for vagrants to get their medicine.
- (CAE) So it's like a charitable medicine man.
- (ERW) Still, this all sounds like something that's a little... unusual like Nindō?
- (SAE) Maybe instead of Rentanjutsu or just learning about stuff it's more like Kikoujutsu or Taikyokuken, or some other health/exercise class or something like that?
- Kikoujutsu - Quigong
- Taikyokuken - Tai Chi
- (CAE) Sure it involves moving your body, but if it's just that then I would prefer just doing Naginata or Kyuudo...
- (ORY) Hrm... Isn't there something that's more to our interests?
- (ERW) Yeah! Something that really embraces our hobby!
- (SAE) Like learning Boueisen!
- Boueisen - Defensive Battle
- (ORY) I'd like to try Gaikoujutsu!
- Gaikoujutsu - Diplomacy
- (ERW) Well let's look at the registration list.
- (CAE) I didn't even bother to look at it. It's probably got the same stuff from last year.
- (PAUSE)
- (SAE) I'm... sure... it... was... around... here it is.
- (ORY) What, zeyo, is this?
- (CAE/ERW/ORY) Sensha... do...?
- (ERW) Woah! They're bringing back Senshado!
- (SAE) And Senshado is...?
- (ERW) It's the sport that makes a good wife and turns girls into women! "Utéba soyaku, kakuza wa dōkan, hashiru sugatawa yuukuri to!"
- Utéba soyaku - To shoot is vulgar/rude
- Kakuza wa dōkan - To go out with a bang
- Hashiru sugatawa yuukuri to - Watch the running silhouette slowly.
- (ORY) Tatéba shakuyaku, suaréba botan. Aruku sugata wa yuri no hana. Zeyo.
- Tatéba shakuyaku - When standing, a Chinese Peony
- Suaréba botan- When sitting, a Tree Peony
- Aruku sugata wa yuri no hana - The walking figure is a Lily Flower
- (ERW) Yeah, they say that too. Still, with this we can not further our knowledge? Ah! I've always yearned for the Blitzkrieg! The display of the Desert Fox!
- (SAE) Tanks, eh? Yeah, I kinda wanna do that.
- (CAE) A four-horse ride?
- (ORY) That's a chariot, not a tank, zeyo.
- (ERW) They're doing an orientation later, let's go see it!
- (CAE) That's right. People worry about things they don't see, rather than what they do see.
- (SAE) Look destiny in the eye and be ready for tomorrow's mystery!
- (ORY) Walk through a rainstorm and you will find a gate!
- (Gate of Buddhist temple, for sanctuary.)
- (ERW) Tanks are not for stopping, only for charging!
- SOREDA!
