The door hung open at about half past midnight, and a chemical smell hung strong in the air. The silence was almost deafening and the atmosphere felt wrong. Floorboards creaked under her feet making groans that sounded like the screeching of the damned in the quiet. The lights were off, not even a television in the background to break the maddening silence.

She found her in the living room, seated on a wooden kitchen chair absolutely surrounded by the thick stench.

“I've been waiting for you.... sister.” The sharp hiss and the smell of smoke cut through the acrid scent of lighter fluid.

“What...”

“Time to go home, sister... the game is over, it's time to return to our mother... you can stop playing pretend now, it's time to be you again...”

The world lit up like a sunrise, and burned away the night.
