  1. OBS Settings guide for non partners on Twitch.tv - http://twitch.tv/wasteduser
  2.
  3. OK this is pretty much what my settings are after many test streams and viewer feedback, tends to offer minimal buffer to the majority of viewers.
  4.
  5. I run a i7 4770k so I have a bit of CPU spare, this guide also assumes you have good enough upload speed e.g. 5mb Min upload (speedtest.net to check)
  6.
  7. OBS software used 32bit on Win7 64bit (obsproject.com)
  8.
  9. This guide is just for the x264 software encoder (x264>QuickSync>NVENC based on bitrate used)
  10.
  11. This is not to give advice on how to set up scenes or stuff like that, check YouTube for many tutorials or OBS/Twitch help sections.
  12.
  13. Always run OBS as Admin user (right click run as administrator) this will ensure it can capture the games correctly using game capture.
  14.
  15.
  16. These settings assume everything else is at default or no setting ticked/set
  17.
  18. -----
  19.
  20. Settings/Encoding
  21.
  22. Enable CBR ticked
  23. Enable CBR padding ticked
  24. Set your bit rate to 2200 <-- After lots of testing this bitrate gave good quality and least buffering for viewers
  25. Audio encoding
  26. Codec AAC
  27. Bitrate 128
  28. Format 48kHz
  29. Channel Stereo
  30.
  31. -----
  32.
  33. Settings/Broadcast settings
  34.
  35. Pick your closest geographical ingest server (FMS URL)
  36. You can also use JTVping (http://www.teamliquid.net/forum/tech-support/326034-jtvping-find-your-best-twitchtv-server)
  37. This will show how your connection is to all the ingest servers, but usually closest is best
  38.
  39. -----
  40.
  41. Settings/Video (based on 1080p game screen)
  42.
  43. Custom base resolution 1920x1080
  44. Resolution downscale 1.5 (1280x720) <-- this is 720p the max you really want to use as a non partner
  45. Filter Lanczos (best detail, 36 samples)
  46. FPS 30
  47.
  48. -----
  49.
  50. Settings/Advanced
  51.
  52. x264 Preset Very Fast <-- default and fine for most, more quality can be had by slowing it to Faster at the expense of CPU!
  53. (The slower you take the option the more time OBS will spend rendering the frame using lots more CPU)
  54. Encoding Profile Main
  55. Keyframe Interval 2 seconds
  56. Use CFR ticked
  57.
  58. Hopefully these settings should help make your stream look and work better for more viewers
  59.
  60. (PC i7 4770k CPU, GTX770, 16gb 2400 ram, OS SSD, Game SSD, Storage HDD, No swap file with 10mb on the upload)
  61.
  62. Any feedback on these settings, send me a twitch message
  63.
  64. Wasted
