  1. <zuljin> what you are doing is definitely a bad thing
  2. <Janitor01> why do you think that?
  3. <Janitor01> I told the BO i'll give it a couple of day
  4. <Janitor01> s
  5. <Janitor01> to cool off
  6. <zuljin> so there's some kind of war between gghq and ggr I get this, but you have to forget about that and think about deeper principles
  7. <Janitor01> right now, I am heated, and I don't like making emotional responses.
  8. <zuljin> give what a couple days?
  9. <Janitor01> a couple of days for me to chill out before making any rash decisions
  10. <zuljin> good plan, don't do something you might regret
  11. <zuljin> anyway listen
  12. <Janitor01> but to me, anonymity is important
  13. <Janitor01> a BO breaking the users' anonymity goes against what I believe in.
  14. <zuljin> good, I believe in anonymity
  15. <Janitor01> and threatening or even pretending to threaten to break their anonymity to report them to the FBI without any proof they did something wrong goes against everything I believe in.
  16. <zuljin> how do you feel about the acidman doxxing?
  17. <Janitor01> I was against it. I followed the rules and deleted all dox on my board.
  18. <zuljin> good, so you apply principles evenly
  19. <Janitor01> I had no control over what happened on other boards.
  20. <zuljin> here's what I think is key thing behind this situation: 8ch is a platform that lets people create and manage their own community, like reddit, github, .. whatever - secondly, 8ch is full of people who care about freedom and free speech, people that hate the trend we keep seeing on other sites: systematic SJW gangs of people jumping into other peoples communities to get players forcibly removed, new
  21. <zuljin> laws/codes of conduct enforced.. basically just attatching themselves to communities thaht other people have built up so they can force their agenda
  22. <zuljin> what you are doing by trying to forcibly remove him from the board is exactly the same kind of attack - it isn't a practice that respects peoples freedom, it's about stamping out anything different. That's why what you're doing is wrong
  23. <zuljin> If you guys manage to manipulate hotwheels into handing over somebodies community it means that there's no point in building a community on 8ch anymore: it can just be removed from you if you happen to step out of line. It's the same thing as when a huge group of twitter feminists that don't even code decend onto someone github project and demand they remove one of the developers
  24. <Janitor01> It's cancerous hotpockets that destroyed 4chan. Yeah 4chan is a more popular site, but do you have free speech there? freedom of speech is nonexistent there.
  25. <zuljin> exactly, 4chan is what we all left
  26. <Janitor01> There's an admittedly cancerous hotpocket on 8chan
  27. <zuljin> and that's why 8ch is great: it's full of people like us who really care about free speech and things
  28. <Janitor01> allow him to stay, or allow him to continue to collect user data?
  29. <Janitor01> intimidating his users with reporting them to the FBI if they step out of line goes beyond fucked up
  30. <zuljin> Well there's a few points you just raised that deserve discussion. One thing I want to say first off is that people on 8ch have the choice to not use his board - just like these twitter feminists have the choice not to use the opal ruby->js transpiler
  31. <zuljin> but they DON'T, they don't give a fuck about 'opal' - they just want to make someone suffer
  32. <Janitor01> People will gravitate towards the larger forum
  33. <zuljin> it seems exactly analogous to this situation now: You could all just stop using his board - but not enough people are leaving so you want to forcibly remove it from him
  34. <Janitor01> and when the larger forum shits upon the smaller one, the smaller one will never have a chance to shine
  35. <zuljin> that sets a bad precident of authoritarianism instead of democracy
  36. <Janitor01> the incumbent usually always wins
  37. <zuljin> it would be a lot smarter to have exploited this event the opposite way: Tell people they have the choice to pick a board with more reasonable moderators that don't collect info on its users
  38. <Janitor01> that's why change is so hard in a democracy.
  39. <zuljin> but this is actual democracy, people just type in the board name they want to go to - it's not a sham like voting
  40. <Janitor01> but when you go to 8ch.net, gamergatehq is above ggrevolt
  41. <Janitor01> they go to the board with more supposed activity
  42. <zuljin> I understand your frustration, it's the same with reddit: everyone goes to thaht terrible terrible site which is full of disgusting censorship beacuse it's the popular active one. Very few people bother with alts like voat or 8ch
  43. <zuljin> similar with github that literally has anti-white racism coded into it's recommended code of conduct
  44. <Janitor01> brb
  45. * Janitor01 has quit (Quit: Leaving)
  46. <Janitor01> so, at least voat admin takes action when there's cancerous owners of their subverses
  47. <zuljin> wb
  48. <zuljin> yeah that's an interesting point actually
  49. <Janitor01> if you are on voat, do you remember @she??
  50. <zuljin> I haven't been following voat much recently (should have been..) but wasn't there a similar situation with v/askvoat like you and gghq are having now?
  51. <Janitor01> yes
  52. <zuljin> that whole thing was pretty creepy
  53. <Janitor01> @she was a cancerous head mod of a popular subverse
  54. <Janitor01> the admin reached out to the community and asked, what is the right course of action
  55. <zuljin> but it's trying to force the decision on other people, instead of letting them choose
  56. <zuljin> this is the fundamental problem here - you're trying to take the decision out of regular peoples hands and put everything on some authority figure
  57. <zuljin> also I take back calling you scumbag, you clearly actually thought about this and have principles - I thought you were just a group of SJW IRC trolls working some vendetta out
  58. <Janitor01> I'm not even on IRC
  59. <Janitor01> I registered this nick today
  60. <Janitor01> I think the decision lies on all of 8chan.
  61. <Janitor01> Hotwheels should be more involved as an admin. He should speak to the people who use his site, and ask what is the right answer.
  62. <zuljin> sadly those days are past, the site is Jims now and hotwheels isn't active at all - they've left 8ch to die because of this "infinity-next" joke site
  63. <zuljin> ill post this log publically, okay with you?
  64. <Janitor01> perfectly fine
