Thalia.

She grew up in a mining town, and a lot of her early memories are of bringing water to the miners as they worked, and in the evening getting an education with the other kids after the adults came home.

It wasn't until she was a teenager that she figured out that the adults were hiding the fact that they were all slaves, and the mine was owned by a dunmer who told the parents that if they ran away or if they didn't meet a quota on mining, he would send people after their children. So the mining town operated itself with their own town elders and all that, but they were under threat to never leave and to mine every day. So it wasn't until she was a teenager and started asking about the outside world that she figured it out, when her parents awkwardly dodged questions about traveling and visiting other areas and seeing the world. The excuses that worked when she was a child stopped working.

Eventually, her parents wanted her to have a better life, so threw her in a river after distracting a guard, and she woke up in skyrim. She doesn't know what happened to her parents, but presumably they got in trouble. Her goal is find where they are, since she doesn't even know that, and return to her village and tell someone who can help them.

In the mean time, she became a priestess of Mara, because the first thing she saw when she woke up from floating down river was a little makeshift shrine to Mara that was on the beach. She took this as a sign Mara watched over her and kept her alive while she was washed away.

She spends her days working as a priest, and she spends her evenings studying geological maps to find mines in the area that she could investigate to try to find her family.

Eventually, a dragon attacks and delays her on her quest for her parents even more, as she gets caught up in the Alduin business. But she meets allies along the way, including her best friend Serana and her girlfriend Aurlyn.

Despite being scared of dragons and vampires and being at the middle of all of these events, she's overall pretty happy with her life recently. She was alone and scared after waking up on an unknown shore, but finding friends and even a significant other has made her feel happy. But being happy makes her feel guilty, because she knows her parents and her old childhood friends are toiling away in some mine, and this never leaves the back of her mind. So, she stays up late every night reading the old maps and mining charters for clues, and is currently planning to take a trip to investigate them all right away after the current crises are over.

In the meantime, she joins her friends on the quest to save the world from dragons and vampires and dragon priests.
