  137. Your Excellency Dr Shaaban
  138. By chance I was watching a programme called "Linatawasal" yesterday on
  139. Syrian Satellite TV (I do not have much details because I tuned in the
  140. middle of the programme). It is about encouraging people in the
  141. Middle East to communicate with each others and learning about their
  142. cultural heritage (the so called audio-visual cultural memory of AL
  143. MOUTAWASSET (Middle East) that is at risk of being eroded because the
  144. old TV videos and tapes are damaged beyond repair and therefore
  145. leading to the great loss of our precious heritage. The programme was
  146. therefore advocating that the young generations of our country should
  147. learn the Middle Eastern culture of '23' countries through browsing
  148. the web site that has been specifically established for that purpose.
  149. The programme gave an interview with a couple of French scholars
  150. promoting the idea on Syrian TV. Whilst I was watching I remembered
  151. one of the British MPs during their recent meeting with you and the
  152. media asking you why one could not get Facebook at the Sheraton? Your
  153. prompt and smart reply was focused on a very important issue that
  154. whilst we are at ware with our neighbour there are attempts to
  155. communicate with the our people through the back door. I feel that
  156. what you said could also apply on this new way of encouraging our
  157. young generations to learn and communicate with others (unwanted)
  158. through the same back door that is as wide as the Facebook! it this
  159. time THE SYRIAN SATELLITE TV. I feel that it is probably worthwhile
  160. looking into this programme in full and appreciate your thought and
  161. feed back on this issue particularly the ID of the "23" countries
