- >You were sitting in an alleyway, chin resting on your knees.
- >Tears were welling up in your eyes, tears of both anger and sorrow.
- >"Nonny?"
- >The familiar voice of one particular party pony caught your ear, but you didn't move from your spot.
- >"Nonnykins, are...are you crying?" Pinkie asked, drawing nearer to you.
- >You sniffled, not answering her directly.
- >"Why are you crying, Nonny...?"
- >You didn't answer for a couple seconds.
- "Because, Pinks, I just had my phone destroyed by some stallion." You finally ground out, voice gravelly from your tears.
- >"Your...phone?" The earth pony asked, tilting her head to the side. "You mean that little black rectangle thing?"
- >You nodded, sniffling as you did so.
- "I've been here for how long, Pinkie?" You asked.
- >"Oh, oh! I know this! Three years, nine months, two weeks, and six days!"
- >She smiled brightly.
- >"That means there's only two months, one week, and one day until your next anniversary party!"
- "Yeah. All this time, I've been keeping myself reminded of my family with my phone."
- >You sighed as you leaned against the alley walls.
- "Voice messages, text messages, pictures..."
- >You gestured to the melted hunk of plastic sitting on the ground next to you, screen cracked in several different places.
- >The back of the phone had been completely obliterated, parts of the motherboard missing entirely.
- "Gone."
- >"Oh no...Nonny..."
- >Hooves went around your neck, drawing you in for a Pinkie Pie hug.
- >This one was more tender than the ones that she would ordinarily give for no particular reason.
- >The dam broke.
- "I-I miss them so damn much..."
- >"Shh...it's okay, Nonny..."
- "I m-made him hurt, Pinkie..."
- >The party pony was silent. Not a gasp, not a reprimand. Just listening.
- "I didn't kill him, but...I just saw red and couldn't stop myself. Twice, across his jaw."
- >Pinkie merely stroked your back from her spot, letting her suddenly flat mane drift into your face.
- >Smelled like bubblegum, appropriately enough.
- >"I...can't say I like what you did, but I can't blame you."
- >There was a pause, and she put her forehead to yours.
- >Not intimately, but caring nonetheless.
- >"Nonny, if you...ever need somepony to talk to...about anything..."
- >You heard her chuckle a bit.
- >"Auntie Pie is willing to listen."
- >You chuckled a bit in response, sniffling.
- "Pinkie, I'm four years older than you."
- >"Details, details. I've never been good with them!"
- >She let go of you, taking a step or two back.
- >Her mane had puffed back up, every bit as bouncy as it had been before.
- >"I think I see a human that needs some ice cream." Pinkie said with a small smile.
- "Pinkie, that's not going to fix this..."
- >"Didn't say it would! I just know that I feel better after having a bowl of triple-fudge brownie ice cream with whipped cream and sprinkles!" The party pony said with a widening grin.
- >You grabbed the shattered remains of your phone and stood.
- >"Oh, I know! Maybe Twilight can fix your phone!" Pinkie added as she guided you out of the alley.
- "Maybe..."
- >Twilight was the one responsible for charging the phone when it needed it, after all.
- >Though, even if she could, the data was likely gone. The damage was done.
- >Still, there was a bit of hope.
- >You let the pink pony lead you out towards Sugarcube Corner, Pinkie bouncing along just ahead of you.
- "Pinkie..."
- >"Yeah, Nonny?"
- "...thank you."
- >Pinkie made a snorting noise.
- >"You don't have to thank Auntie Pie! It was her pleasure!"
- >That got a laugh out of you, strained as it was.
- >Hearing you laugh must have been what she was looking for, as Pinkie's own smile grew a bit brighter when she heard it.
- >She lead you inside Sugarcube Corner, the door shutting behind you.
- >That ice cream was the best you had in a long while.
