MH - S01 E05

<Darkling> The second bell rings, and the girls locker room is still full of girls changing into shrots and tanktops. Phys-Ed was about to start. The teacher, Mr. Hatch, was pretty lenient on how long it took them to change, considering he was not at all in condition to be teaching any physical activity.
<Billy_Blackfeather> Say what you will about her hair but Billy has the body of an athlete. Long limbs and the smooth curves of toned muscles. It would be hard to beat her at many physical activities if she had any sort of competative nature.
<Avaline> "I feel like I've walked into a movie! Does that make me a star, or just some chick with a bit part?" Avaline asks cheerfully, despite obviously not being anywhere near as athletic in build.
<Tina_> Tina was obviously a bit less cofortable, "I don't know why we can't have our own work out clothes."  Her shorts were too short and her shirt was too big, making it look like she was just wearing the shirt.
<Avaline> "Tina, dearest! You've just made me think of something horrific, and I adore you for it."
Tina_ looks at Ava, her eyebrows raised.
<Billy_Blackfeather> The Indian rolled her eyes and left the lockerroom, ready for P.E.
<Avaline> "I'll save it for later. Wouldn't want to cause you distress." she says with a smile, then makes her way out.
<Tina_> The girl just shrugge dand went out with Avaline.
<Darkling> Out of nowhere a dodgeball flies into Billy's gut, conencting with a satisfying smack before bouncing away.
<Avaline> Avaline flinches at the sound of the impact and looks around. Just where did that dodgeball come from? Probably the most smug or amused looking person on the field.
Billy_Blackfeather doubles over, holding her abdomen. She didn't make a sound but did she have to? Soon enough she stands up straight looking murder through her hair, looking for the one that threw it.
<Darkling> Luke is high fiving anothe rguy. So likely him.
<Billy_Blackfeather> Okay Luke. Normally Billy wouldn't give two shits but today she felt vengeful. She had to energy she needed to burn off and violence spoke to her.
<Billy_Blackfeather> Where did that ball go? She was going to feed it to him.
<Darkling> onyl a few feet in front of her
<Tina_> Tina came out and saw Billy with a look of pure fury on her face reaching for a dodgeball.  "Oh no."
<Billy_Blackfeather> As she took the ball she grinned, a toothy and predatory look far from any actual amusement.
<Avaline> Avaline follows behind a safe distance, looking amused.
<Billy_Blackfeather> Suddenly her body snaps into action, one powerful throw aimed for Luke.
<Darkling> He's still celebraiting with his buddies and doesn't see the ball curve in a perfect arc to smash into the side of his face, dropping him to the ground like dead weight.
<Billy_Blackfeather> Her expression is a smoldering stare but her body language says satisfaction.
<Avaline> Avaline just grins, looking entirely too amused. "For great justice."
<Tina_> Tina sucks air through her teeth as the ball connects.  "Ouch though."
<Darkling> A whistle foes off and everyone stops to look, a few people snickering.
<Darkling> Another moment before you can see Mr. Hatch huffing and puffing his way over to Luke and checking him, then pulling him up on his feet.
<Billy_Blackfeather> "Anyone else I should hit?" Her tone is low enough it carries only to Avaline and Tina, sounding like a soft, rumbling growl.
<Avaline> "Nope. Justice has been served."
<Tina_> "What she said."
<Darkling> Then Mr. Hatch is storming in your direction. "This is dodgeball you know? Not murderball or some other crazed sport. Why did you do that?"
<Billy_Blackfeather> "If he can't take it he shouldn't dish it out."
<Avaline> "He murderballed Billy first. But she has a resistance to balls, I guess."
<Tina_> "He deserved it."
<Darkling> "You don't aim for the face!" There's spittle on his lips as he starts to turn red.
<Billy_Blackfeather> "The rules were unclear."
<Darkling> "Don't bullshit me! You've played this plenty before!"
<Tina_> "You know, I thought it was a rule that you don't hit people who aren't playing too.  Seems like rules were broken on both sides then."
<Darkling> He grumbles and turns to Tina. "Still doesn't mean you ping someone in the face!"
<Billy_Blackfeather> "So I hit him in the face. What now?" She sounded defiant, standing tall and proud of what she'd done.
<Darkling> "Not sorry? Fine. Detention after school. You can scrub down the gym."
<Billy_Blackfeather> "Yessir."
<Darkling> He turns and stomps back over to Luke shouting some more. "You, get to the nurse and stop getting blood all over my gym!"
<Darkling> Luke trudges out, holding his nosebleed the best he can.
<Avaline> "Hm... this gives me an idea."
<Tina_> "Yiu're full of ideas today aren't you?"
<Billy_Blackfeather> "Guess I'll be late for pizza," she comments to Avaline, rolling her shoulders as she goes to get in line for the actual game.
<Avaline> "Yeah. I just think it would be funny to go complain to the principal about all this. There's no reason you should have to scrub the gym floor. What if Luke has ebola?"
<Tina_> "It would be easier to convince them that Luke has a flesh eating zombie virus."
<Darkling> After everyone has settled down about the whole situation the game resumes, balls flying about.
<Avaline> Avaline seems to be having fun with it, occasionally yelling slightly off color remarks at the enemy team.
Billy_Blackfeather is a stone cold machine as she plays, still burning hot after the all too brief battle with Luke.
<Darkling> After awhile Mr. Hatch blows a whistle telling everyone to clean up the balls and go clean themselves up. Off to the showers and changeroom.
<Billy_Blackfeather> Works for Billy. She puts some dodgeballs back on the rack and heads for the showers.
<Avaline> Avaline, too. Off to the showers!
 Tina_ helps clean any stray balls before heading into the showers with the others.
Billy_Blackfeather is certainly focused on showering, not bothering to look at any of the other girls as she went through the process.
<Avaline> Avaline, not so focused. She keeps having gigglefits for whatever reason, looking more than a little hyper...
<Tina_> Tina does her best to get in and out without too much trouble, though she can't help sneak a glance every once in a while.
<Avaline> Avaline ends up getting closer to Tina, grinning. "Tina! I need you to help me restrain my darker urges!"
<Billy_Blackfeather> That seemed to be Billy's cue to leave the showers and get dressed.
<Tina_> Tina giggled but started to leave too.  "We'd better get some clothes on you, stat."
<Avaline> Ava follows out, muttering quietly to Tina. "So... I'm thinking of lashing out at Felicia right now. Good idea or no?"
<Tina_> "Maybe...But only if you won't get caught."
<Avaline> "It's attention getting. But I don't see much coming out of it other than getting under her skin."
<Tina_> "Go for it then."  Tina said with a grin.

<Darkling> Toni's Pizzaria was a small affair not far from downtown with tacky, stereotypical decorations. Avaline and Billy sat across from each other at a booth table covered in a red and white vinyl tablecloth, the small town bustling outside the window.
<Avaline> "Canadian bacon, pineapple, and onions, how I love thee. More than life itself, more than cream puffs..."
<Billy_Blackfeather> "Meat Lover's with extra meat," she grunts from behind her menu. She was calmer, but that could be because she skipped a class doing who know's what in the girl's restroom.
<Avaline> "So, what's new in the world of Billy?"
<Billy_Blackfeather> "I'm starving, where's the waiter?" She lowered her menu, sniffing. Remembered why she was there though, "There's a werid rock on the path to our tra- house and Gramps said not to dig it up. Superstitious crap."
<Avaline> "Kind of neat. Do you put much faith in what he said?"
<Billy_Blackfeather> "I do what he says but...I don't know. Maybe it's real or he's just senile." She sits up straighter, peering around.
<Avaline> "I'm a believer in these things, myself. What's so weird about the rock?"
<Billy_Blackfeather> "It was just in my way." She turned her attention back to Avaline. If this girl believed in it...maybe there was some merit? "He said it was of the earth."
<Avaline> At that she looks a bit skeptical. "Well... uh... I get what he's trying to say, but I probably would have said it a bit differently."
<Billy_Blackfeather> "You know what he's talking about?"
<Darkling> Your server comes by and drops off some drinks.
<Avaline> "Vaguely. Probably some sacred object or something. Just think it's weird to say it's of the earth. Mud is of the earth, too. But it's only good for mud wrestling."
<Billy_Blackfeather> "Meat Lover's with extra meat," she says, looking up at the guy. "My friend wants canadian bacon, pineapple and onions. Got that?"
<Darkling> wHe nods, writing it down. "Any dipping sauce?"
<Billy_Blackfeather> "No, you?" She looks across to Ava.
<Avaline> "I want a marinara as rich and deep as the red sauce of life that comes out of my veins when I cut myself in dark corners."
<Darkling> "Uuh.. right." He walks away awkwardly.
<Avaline> "Think he would have liked it better if I said the red and clotty stuff that comes out on my period?" Ava asks Billy with a smile.
<Billy_Blackfeather> "Probably not.
<Billy_Blackfeather> " A few gulps of cola and she asks, "What about you then?"
<Avaline> "I've been thinking about taking over the school." Avaline says, dead serious.
<Billy_Blackfeather> "Come again?"
<Avaline> "Socially, I mean. Certain people need to be taken down a peg or two. Like Fella... er.. Felicia."
<Billy_Blackfeather> "The hell's bringing this on?" She sat back, arms folded.
<Avaline> "The way she's treated us and other people not in her little clique. You miss a lot of it, I guess, but she's definitely a baddy." Ava says, pausing a moment. "I want to wield the same power she does. For great justice!"
<Darkling> Around comes the server again with some napkins and small plates, before going off before Ava can creep him out again
<Billy_Blackfeather> "It's just high school."
<Avaline> "Teenagers have enough problems without people like her making their lives worse. She's pretty tight with that douchebag that balled you, you know."
<Billy_Blackfeather> "So I punt her!" she let out with a growl. "Just show you're stronger. You don't need to play games."
<Avaline> "Just playing to my strengths is all. Anyway... you want me to look in to this rock thingy for you? Or anything else?"
<Billy_Blackfeather> "Not like it's important. Just a rock to me."
<Avaline> "It might be more. I mean... at least you'd know if he was right or just rambling if I found out, right?"
<Billy_Blackfeather> "Yeah, fine. Whatever." She leaned to the side to take something out of her pocket. A folded-up piece of paper she handed over. "Figured taking a rubbing if the stupid rock would reveal something but it looks like nonsense to me. Just...rock stuff?"
<Darkling> The server finally comes back again, setting odwn the two pizzas.
<Darkling> "Anything I can get you right now?"
<Avaline> "Goody. Let's see now..." Avaline takes the paper, examining it. When the server comes back she looks at him. "I'm good, thanks. But did you ever think of the sausage on pizza as little brains? That used to bug me a lot as a kid."
<Billy_Blackfeather> "More soda." She's already digging into her pizza, bite after bite quickly disappearing. "Bring a pitcher."
<Darkling> He nods to Billy and heads off.
<Avaline> Avaline pushes her food to the side and digs around in her purse. She pulls out a deck of cards and starts shuffling. She puts the deck on the table. "Cut the deck, my good woman."
Billy_Blackfeather eyeballs the deck of cards. Hesitantly she picks up a chunk of the cards and sets them aside before dropping the rest on top.
<Avaline> Avaline starts setting cards out on the table, giving them a thorough looking over whilst running her fingers over the rock rubbing. "Feel free to eat. This will take a few."
<Darkling> And back again with a pitcher of soda.
<Billy_Blackfeather> That was all Billy needed to hear, returning to the act of devouring her pizza and sipping soda right from the pitcher.
<Avaline> Avaline seems to space out for a while as she stares at the cards. She grins stupidly after a while, then gets the cards off the table. "That was really productive."
<Billy_Blackfeather> "How could you tell?"
<Avaline> "This is a focus. Helps me see stuff. Anyway..." She pauses to take a bite of her pizza. "Yeah, I saw stuff. There was some ugly, deformed little kid running around your house spewing hate and puke all over the place. Had knives in its back, which might be symbolic of a betrayal."
<Billy_Blackfeather> "...what?"
<Avaline> "I know it sounds dumb. Just think of it as a bad presence in the woods you live in. Like an evil spirit, or maybe just a really mad one."
<Billy_Blackfeather> "Hrff. And the rock?"
<Avaline> "I got the feeling there was a bigger presence in the woods. Probably not the sort of thing you want to mess with. I'd say leave the rock right where it is. It might be protecting the place somehow."
<Darkling> The server walks by to check how you are doing.
<Avaline> "It's all good. And so delicious."
<Billy_Blackfeather> Billy grunts, still enthralled with eatting her pizza though her expression is a little more thoughtful now.
<Darkling> He heads off again to take care of some other tables until you are done.
