  1. Once upon a time, in a land not so distant from his house, a young hero defeats all odds to win back the girl of his dreams. On a cool fall night, sitting in his dorm room, Todd opens his laptop, the pale dim light of the screen casting a ghostly glow on his face. While sipping on a soda laying down in his boxers, he is scrolling through Facebook. This is the story of how he loses the girl of his dreams.
  2.
  3. Todd mutters to himself, “Fucking school. People here are so overrated. Rich little pricks.” He stops on a photo of a girl. She is dressed in a deep blue shaded sweater. This girl caught his eye. Something about her made his heart stop and he looked for a few moments. “She is beautiful!”, he thought to himself, “I got to play this cool so I can maybe talk to her.” He spent five minutes thinking about what he should say. Should he say, “I love that sweater on you!”. No, that’s way to lame. He pondered for a five more minutes. He gave up. “I am just gonna say ‘cute’ and hope for the best.” He leaves the well thought out comment on her picture, then closes his laptop and decides to head off to sleep.
  4.
  5. The next morning, Todd checks his notifications. He sees the beautiful girl reply to him! She said, “Thanks! ? “ He pounced onto his keyboard and asks her to message him. She immediately sends him a message. Todds face lightens up. He feels sort of happy for once. Not sullen. Not corrupted. He feels happy that somebody decided to talk to him of all people! He starts messaging her about how they apparently talked and how he likes her sweater. Eventually he got her number. (SCORE) Her name is Babygirl. “What a beautiful name. It is fit for a girl like her.” He then gets ready for class. He is late. Not like it wasn’t normal for him anyway. He texts her in class for the most of it. “She seems really into me!”, he thought, “Maybe me and her should talk on the phone sometime!”
  6. Later on in the day he decides to call her on the phone. It is roughly 10pm at night. He is with his friends. Babygirl is crying. She is very upset about something. Todd had no clue what was wrong. So he talks about getting her pineapple stuff that he had in his room, not really planning on eating them. She starts cheering up midway through the call only to be interrupted by her mom. “Mom, im on the phone with a guy” ‘you two are going to date’ and starts saying she has to go. He decided to ask her some stupid questions just to keep hearing her voice, “What’s your favorite color?” She talks about how her favorite color is “Periwinkle for the moment”. Todd starts getting the vibe that she wanted to go to bed. So, he played it off and said goodnight.
  7.
  8. The next morning he gets a text, “Thanks for talking with me on the phone last night; I really needed somebody to cheer me up.” He felt proud of himself. He did all this drama girl stuff through High School, he caught on when girls had issues. He just knew how to handle it. He figured that since she is getting back to school that they should meet up sometime. Outside of her Dorms Hall. Perfect place.
  9. Later on in the week Todd and Babygirl got really close and figured it was finally time to meet. It was time to finally get to know each other in person. Todd is dressing up in the usual get-up. He is very nervous about what to do. He didn’t know where to take her. He didn’t have a plan. He walks to the front of her dorm and he is stunned. A beautiful girl stood before him. She was caressed by the light of the moon. Her hair was a silver/yellow. She was wearing a black and white striped sweater and some skinny jeans. He felt like a robot walking because he was awestruck by how beautiful she turned out to be. He was stunned. He stammered his words and said, “Where would you like to go?” She replied, “Anywhere really, I don’t mind.” He thought to himself, “God fucking dammit. Rule number one, never ask the girl where to go, you have to take her to places that are away from society so you both could bond.” So, he walks with her to the bridge where he discovered a stoner’s hideout with a couple of his friends a couple nights prior. When Babygirl and Todd arrived he thought, “This must be really creepy for her, this is like some shit a rapist would do! Oh god I hope she trusts me not to do anything!” When they reached the bridge they stumbled upon a group of stoners. Todd being the idiot decided to have Babygirl sit with him while he smoked some weed with the other stoners. He thought she would be okay. Apparently not. She has asthma. That would not work for Todd. He couldn’t let this girl suffer. She tells him it is time to go. He agrees. They are heading back her dorm. On the way back they decided to take a couple pictures together. He is very high. He took some really shitty pictures. He knew at some point in the night he made a mistake, but he was so high and happy that he tells her before she enters the building, “Ill talk to you later on tonight!” She smiles and then goes inside.
  10.
  11. Todd falls asleep that night. Happy. For once in his college life he felt like he did something he should be proud of. He felt unbeatable. Nothing could keep his eagerness to talk to her again. The next morning they had a small conversation about how last night went and how he couldn’t wait to see her again. She was willing to see him again! Holy shit! Todd finally didn’t mess up!
  12.
  13. Later on in the week, Todd invited Babygirl to have a study session with him. It was the first time they would be together for something other than being recreational. They decided to have the study session in the university library. Being bored halfway through, Todd does what his ADHD mind does best. Distracts her. He shows her an app he loved to use on his ipod. “iFunny” it was called. The app let him make memes. Thinking she was somebody who liked to do funny stuff, he took a picture of her laughing. He captioned it and it said, “Balls? You have none!” He showed her and she says, “No that’s more like this.” She makes a face. Todd could not help himself from smiling. A beautiful girl is having fun with him and he is having fun with her! Well the study session date had to some to an end. He invited her to his room for the night. She said she didn’t plan on staying, but she would love to.
  14.
  15. In the evening, Babygirl comes to Todds dorm. He warns her, “yeah, just saying, my room can get pretty messy.” She didn’t seem to have a problem with this. He invites her into the room. They turn on a movie and cuddle for the first time. He could not but help thinking to himself about how much of a lucky guy he is and how he has to think of old indian women so he couldn’t get a boner. He kept his hands away from any areas that he felt were the “Hot Zone”, places that should be off limits. He talks her into sleeping the night. He offered her his bed and she slept on it while he slept on the floor. He has to be a gentleman. She deserves the best.
  16.
  17. The next morning they go out to get breakfast at the schools cafeteria. He still was in awe that he was still talking to this girl and how well they got along. Later on in that week, Babygirl decides to drop some hints that she really likes him. “Holy fuck!” he kept thinking to himself. “I need to play this slow with her so we can have something that would last!” He runs that thought by her and she said “ I wouldn’t like you if I didn’t plan on dating you for a long time.”
  18.
  19. They spend another night together, this time it is to study and do Todds laundry. That shit took hours. But it felt like 20 minutes because of all the fun they had. babygirl had her laptop there so they decided to take pictures together. They were very random. Giggling a lot of the time and laughing at how he blended in with the background. He and her got along really well. He decided to make a move. He went in to kiss her cheek during a picture. She was very surprised, however she looked relieved that it happened. She said, “What was that?” He tried as innocently as he could in reply, “A kiss?” She said, “Your doing it wrong silly”. She came in for a kiss and they kissed. Not once. Not twice. Four times! It was the happiest Todd felt since the first night they met! He loved this. He felt like he could possibly be in love with her. They didn’t officially date though after Todds laundry was done. A week went by before during a walk she asked “Are you going to ask me out?” He was shocked. He thought it was better that they would wait before dating. They didn’t really know eachother as well as they should. So he tells her “Lets wait for a bit.” She got really silent. As they walked he was thinking, “I cannot believe I told her that. Look at her, rob! She is so disappointed in herself!”
  20.
  21. They arrived at a tennis court in the middle of a small park near the campus. The court was small. It was a clear night. Todd was unsure with what he was supposed to do. So he was looking at the stars and starts talking about how the light we see from the stars takes millions of years to reach earth, and we should be grateful that we see it. He pointed out constellations to her. He felt satisfied that he was able to do these things for her and tell her about the stars. She was still silent since the trail. He then says, “Would you like to be my girlfriend?” She was laying on his lap at this point and she looks into his eyes. He could see the uncertainty and the hesitation in her eyes. She says softly, “yes”. He leans down and kisses her on the lips underneath the starlight. It was a romantic October night. A night he will never forget. This would be the beginning of a beautiful relationship.
  22.
  23. Todd treats her like a princess, calling her baby names and cute titles. He was in love. He knew it. He felt she was too. It wasn’t infatuation like it almost always was. It was an elated feeling of happiness. He felt an aura when he was around her. Then came the night she wanted him to break up with her. He was so upset. Confused. Sad. He thought she was tryin to break his heart on purpose. He thought she was a friend of his ex’s. His ex was getting revenge. No way could Todd have been in love with this girl and then be struck down because of this. “This is just too good to be true” was her logic. She wanted to leave him on this pretense. He was outraged because she was implying this for the past week. He left her. He missed her. He played hard to get. He loved her so much. He couldn’t be without her. How could she do this? We were happy. We were always going to be happy. She was the innocent girl. I was the bad kid. We were supposed to even eachother out and then live happily ever after.
  24.
  25. However, he knew there was truth to her words. As they got to know eachother she and him talked about family life and missed oppurtunities. She was always on that upset depressed stage. She felt compelled to leave because she was scared of this new love she found with him. He knew it to be true. She didn’t seem like the kind of girl that sleeps with a guy a week into a relationship.
  26.
  27. He decided that he was to give her a chance. But, this time it felt different. He wasn’t happy. He was simply numb. He felt like he loved her. He felt elated being around her. But, this time after knowing how she could make him want to leave her, he felt like she reared an ugly face he could never see in her. He was upset. He felt she wasn’t the girl he fell in love with. Soon after, there were fights. Fights that led to questioning who loved who. Days that were unforgettable. Days that are better left unmentioned. He hurt her. He hurt her too many times. He only hurt her so she could leave him. Just like she did for him. He wanted her to see that he too had demons inside him that she wouldn’t like. He was in love. He was upset that the relationship wasn’t like the first 2 months.
  28.
  29. During the year, her glowing aura of happiness started to fade. The smile that he always used to give her turned to a worried and frightened quiver at what he may say. He was a monster to her. He was still veiled by the idea that she would never change. But he knew something had. He knew she started getting weary of his hate talk. He felt compelled to defend himself and push her away. He treated her like an animal. Not because he loved her. But because he felt that if he treated her like an object, she couldn’t hurt him the next time something happens. He knew that the smile would take time to come back. He knew that the girl he used to love would one day leave him. She did. She left. He couldn’t believe it. He had the audacity to blame her. He was upset with her for leaving because he spent all the money he had on her. The breakup ended so badly that this time she was actually leaving for good. No contact allowed. Todd was distraught. He couldn’t believe what he had done.
  30.
  31. He tried talking to her again. He couldn’t live without her. He made too many mistakes. He got her back after many love messages and talks of a better future of how it was in the beginning. He would have her wake up to flowers. He left her love messages as much as he could without exhausting his energy. He loved her. He was so disillusioned that if he kept acting like it was the first 2 months that everything would be normal again. But he fell back into knowing that it wasn’t how it would be. She showed signs of the emotional scars he left on her. Todd was disappointed in himself. He was too upset with himself that he felt worthless. He started to lose his ego. He lost all his happiness.
  32.
  33. Things became better and then worse. It was like that for a while until the new years party. Nothing was going to get in the way of that night. It will always be a memory engraved in his mind. The kiss. The parents “happy” that he was there and able to be there for their daughter. He was so upset with himself though. He had no interest in the home movies she showed him. But he liked being with her. He didn’t know what to do with himself. This was stuff he wasn’t prepared for. He didn’t know what to do, so he gave generic comments about how she danced gracefully. He was kinda impressed.
  34.
  35. That’s another missed moment by him. He let the opportunity slip by. He was supposed to be there for her. He was supposed to look at that video and see that his girlfriend was dancing as a young girl and she was able to do things so much better than the others. He should have felt proud! He should have felt overjoyed when she showed him the video of her doing her first solo. He only proved to her that he was a heartless creature that wouldn’t be there for her accomplishments.
  36.
  37. Finally, the school year resumed and Babygirl caught on to what Todds train of thought was. She knew he was disillusioned. She knew he wasn’t listening to her anymore. She knew all of these things. He was corrupted. He was manipulative. He was scum.
  38. Then on the eve of their year and a half anniversary, Todds feeling for himself only proved that he didn’t put Babygirl first. He was very wrong. She had too much stress. She left him. He was only thinking about how he would get her back. What the angle was. There was no angle. He was at fault for the whole deal. They both made mistakes, but he took the love she gave and threw it away. He wasted a beautiful girls time with him.
  39. All of the things she did were forgiven. He sees that it was because of his actions she went into the arms of other men. He knew he drove her away many times. He knows she was trying to look out for herself because they both were not happy. He realizes that he was blinded by such ignorance that he had the audacity to blame her. She was never at fault. Ever. She gave him many warnings, many chances. This time it was a chance too much for her. Babygirl was the best thing Todd ever had happen to him. He then sat down on his computer and wrote this story.
