  1. >You are Celestia
  2. >And you have failed
  3. >A shuddering gasp racks through your body
  4. >You can't stop shaking, sobs choking your lungs
  5. >You stare through a sea of tears at the new figure in the moon, shining brightly
  6. >The face of the alicorn you failed to protect
  7. >The one above all who should have been able to count on you
  8. >And you failed her
  9. >A low moan escapes your raw throat as the Elements orbit around you
  10. >Oblivious to your pain
  11. >A threat to the Harmony of Equestria
  12. >They responded as they should
  13. >You waited. That was the worst part
  14. >You and your sister had argued before
  15. >But not like that
  16. >Not like this morning
  17. >You were tired last evening
  18. >Your work on your greatest project completed, you lowered the sun
  19. >And you went
  20. >to
  21. >sleep
  22. >Things had been getting strained
  23. >You saw that Luna had been getting colder, more distant
  24. >But you had the answer
  25. >This would all go away once you finished your work
  26. >You had given everything to this goal
  27. >Every free waking moment to see yourselves free from His design
  28. >But you were TIRED
  29. >You imagined waking early, bringing your project to fruition
  30. >And raising the Sun on a new era of peace for all Equestria
  31. >In the end you thought only of yourself
  32. >And now she has paid the price
  33. >Was this His plan all along?
  34. >Could even He be so devious? His reach so long?
  35. >Does it even matter any more?
  36. >He won
  37. >You lower yourself through the shattered roof of the castle
  38. >The ruins that remain underscore the reality of what has happened
  39. >There lies your machine
  40. >Still intact, ready to do what you designed it to
  41. >You suddenly realize that it's supposed to be noon soon
  42. >Your tears start again fresh as you realize that
  43. >you've been wallowing in your own grief as all of Equestria
  44. >must be in a state of horrified panic at the moon blotting out your sun
  45. >And the new mark on her face
  46. >At your concern for all of your little ponies the Elements hum softly in their orbits
  47. >You hate them
  48. >You know it makes no sense, but you still feel the bile rising in your throat as you
  49. >watch them revolve around you
  50. >You want to crush them, to shatter them into the finest dust and
  51. >fling them across creation. Or feed them to some hungry dragon
  52. >Your streaming eyes gleam with malice
  53. >Suddenly there's a shift in their magic, the Elements pull away from you
  54. >Your connection nearly severed by your loathing
  55. >You can feel them beginning to reject you
  56. >And yet your hate is building into an almighty fury
  57. >You stumble backward a step, part of you confused at your feelings
  58. >And part of you revelling in the purity of it
  59. >Your flank bumps against a sharp edge and you quickly turn
  60. >Luna's throne
  61. >Luna, your baby sister. Your constant companion. She shared every victory. Every defeat
  62. >And now she's gone. Sealed by your most potent magic, enhanced by the Elements of Harmony
  63. >It's all their fault
  64. >NO. It's all YOUR fault.
  65. >What use are the Elements if they can't protect the one pony...
  66. >This was YOUR mistake!
  67. >You'll destroy them before they can hurt somepony else!
  68. >The only one who hurt Luna was YOU
  69. >Then you should die too
  70. >All the world should burn for her!
  71. >The world is ashes without her smile
  72. >Yes. And ashes it shall become.
  73. >The Elements struggle in the grasp of your magic
  74. >Their connection to you warping and ebbing as your love of your sister wars with your hatred
  75. >The Element of Magic crosses in front of your vision, it's glow flaring with your emotion
  76. >The image of a pale alicorn with mad eyes, a tear streaked face, a snarl contorting her lips
  77. >and a mane flashing with the fires of Tartarus is reflected in it's turning facets
  78. >You've seen that face before. Only minutes...hours?...ago
  79. >"NO! I cannot succumb to this!"
  80. >Visions of Equestria burning, Canterlot's gleaming towers crumbling into the streets
  81. >Her ponies dying beneath her gaze
  82. >"I WILL NOT ALLOW THIS!"
  83. >You scream into the empty room
  84. >There is only one course of action, your greatest triumph, your greatest failure
  85. >The Elements of Harmony are screaming
  86. >The dissonant emotions and desires with you repelling them and attracting them in equal measure
  87. >Their crystaline structure under enormous stress has begun to vibrate in an ear splitting peal
  88. >You muster the strength of a true Equestrian Royal Princess
  89. >And you move toward your construct
  90. >With determination you place the Elements into their respective plinths and
  91. >ignoring the satisfying images of the death of your entire world
  92. >you begin the complex sequence of spell formulae and Elemental configurations
  93. >The pressure in your mind swells as your magic struggles against your divided will
  94. >The pain is excruciating
  95. >It's nothing compared to Hers
  96. >With a surge of emotion the Elements flare into blinding radiance
  97. >The construct whirls into motion, the formulae falling into their proper alignment
  98. >The flickering firelight that turned the broken room into a dismal prison
  99. >is hurled back by the pure blue-white brilliance that pours from the machine
  100. >"It looks like moonlight"
  101. >Your consciousness fades as you stare into the expanding sphere of light
  102. >Your thoughts, desires, sorrow, and hatred all fade as it surrounds you
  103. >In the sight destroying center of the harmonic storm you see a burst of golden light
  104. >"Ha, it looks like a dying star."
  105. >Your eyes close as darkness rushes over you
