  1. Operation Facebook
  2.
  3. IRC (Port 6667): irc.anonops.li #OperationFacebook
  4.
  5.
  6. !There has been a gross misunderstanding caused by the popularized video concerning #OperationFacebook, made by a non-native speaker of English. The word "kill" was used and interpreted liberally by various media outlets to mean a direct hacking attack on the infrastructure of Facebook. This interpretation is distracting from the context of the rest of the message, which aims to warn citizens in a concentrated and creative way of the privacy and security risks involved in using Facebook.!
  7.
  8.
  9.
  10. What is OperationFacebook?
  11.
  12. - OperationFacebook is anti-Facebook campaign.
  13.
  14.
  15. We want to :
  16.
  17. - expose to everyone that Facebook sells private data of their users
  18. - scorn Facebook as much as possible in as many ways as we can scheme up
  19. - be sure the public and Fb knows why are we doing it
  20. - convince as many people as we can to leave Fb
  21.
  22. Our main goal is to inform society about the dangers of using
  23. Facebook, we want to inform everyone that Facebook is not private and
  24. that it's selling user data to companies that work for the government.
  25. The anonymity has been taken from us and we want it back.
  26.
  27.
  28. What’s wrong with Fb?
  29.
  30. - Facebook is now the largest database of people on the planet. This data is
  31. made available to law enforcement and companies. Private data is not well protected
  32. and can be easily stolen. Facebook does not respect privacy by keeping and selling
  33. all private content posted on its platform. Applications can access your profile.
  34. Information on one's profile is still Facebook's property even after profile
  35. deactivation. Facebook can be used to steal from people, hurt them, and manipulate
  36. them.
  37.
  38. - Over 600 million people are registered at Facebook. That means the data of
  39. 600 million people is visible to everyone in the world wide web, there's absolutely
  40. no anonymity. Even the privacy policy of Facebook doesn't assure you of anonymity.
  41.
  42.
  43. Something about privacy policy of Fb.
  44.
  45. - In Facebook privacy policy it's stated that: "We allow advertisers to
  46. choose the characteristics of users...and we may use any of the non-personally
  47. identifiable attributes we have collected (including information you may have
  48. decided not to show to other users, such as your birth year or other sensitive
  49. personal information or preferences)to select the appropriate audience for those
  50. advertisements."
  51.
  52. - You also allow Facebook to place a cookie in your browser: "...there is a
  53. possibility that the advertiser may place a cookie in your browser..."
  54.
  55. - It's also written there that Facebook logs nearly every action you do
  56. there:" We keep track of some of the actions you take on Facebook, such as adding
  57. connections (including joining a group or adding a friend), creating a photo album,
  58. sending a gift, poking another user, indicating you “like” a post, attending an
  59. event, or connecting with an application. In some cases you are also taking an
  60. action when you provide information or content to us. For example, if you share a
  61. video, in addition to storing the actual content you uploaded, we might log the fact
  62. that you shared it."
  63.
  64. - You also allow Facebook to collect information about your "browser type,
  65. location, and IP address, as well as the pages you visit."
  66.
  67. - You should read the privacy policy of Facebook to know what you allow
  68. Facebook to do with your data. You can find it on https://www.facebook.com/policy.php
  69.
  70.
  71. Facebook doesn’t provide enough protection.
  72.
  73. - Fb also sells your data to law enforcement and companies. Not to mention
  74. they earn millions of $ by selling this data.
  75.
  76. - All you do on Fb is recorded & shared with the governments and anyone who
  77. has the money to buy it. Even if you "delete" your data, they're still saved and any
  78. government agency can look them up anytime.
  79.
  80. - Facebook wants to make money, and they can do this by sharing your
  81. information with advertisers who want to market their products to you.
  82.
  83. - Basically Facebook is pretty sloppy about vetting their ads, which could
  84. result in you clicking on an anti-virus software ad and downloading an actual virus.
  85.
  86. - Privacy settings revert to a less safe default mode after each redesign.
  87.
  88. - More than a dozen privacy and consumer protection organizations have filed a
  89. complaint with the FCC claiming the site plays with privacy settings intentionally
  90. to make users’ personal info fair game for commercial use.
  91.
  92. - Even after you delete your profile, the data stays on facebook and can be
  93. recovered anytime.
  94.
  95.
  96. We’re going to do next:
  97.
  98. - Step #1: Informing your own city what Facebook is actually doing by hanging
  99. posters around. From 15/08/2011 -> 22/08/2011 (dd/mm/jjj)
  100.
  101. - Step #1.5: Make fake FB accounts and massive invite strangers for a week or
  102. two.
  103.
  104. - Step #2: Inform every FB friend on whats going on around FB. Make a wall
  105. about it or something.
  106.
  107. - Step #3: Inform local media of your own country about Facebook.
  108.
  109. - Step #3.5: Mass spam the internet about FB's activities. Be createful,
  110. contact Google, contact Microsoft, spam on MSN, Yahoo, Skype or w/e, massive spam on
  111. games, Inform EVERYONE.
  112.
  113. - Step #4: Inform world media (Fox News, NY Times, The Times, etc.)
  114.
  115. - Step #5: Create an Anonymous Social Network site ourselves identical to FB,
  116. only difference is that everyone is Anonymous.
  117.
  118. - Step #6: Convince everyone from FB to join our new network.
  119.
  120. - Step #7: ??????
  121.
  122. - Step #8: Profit
