  4. Allama Delwar Hossain Sayedee is one of the most respected Islamic personalities in Bangladesh. He is widely revered as an Islamic scholar and orator by millions, both in Bangladesh and abroad. The government of Bangladesh, having charged him unjustly of war crimes committed in 1971 during the Liberation War of 1971, has given him the death penalty via the kangaroo tribunal set up to try political opponents of the current government. Numerous witness accounts by tribunal witnesses have all corroborated the fact that Allam Sayedee is innocent of all charges levelled against him. Most recently, it has dismissed the appeal of Allama Sayedee and a verdict for the upholding of his death sentence is expected any day. We ask you to campaign with us to protest this injustice and call upon the government to stop this injustice through creation of both national and international pressure to uphold the rule of justice and ensure that Allama Sayedee gets a fair trial in order to be cleared of all false charges.
