  1. “Got you…” she trailed. Her smile was wide and sadistic.
  2.
  3. My mouth was wider, my grin had more fangs. In terms of a smile-off, I’m pretty sure I won. In terms of this fight? Well, when one of my swords spun around and smashed the ship-shaped pommel into her Philosopher’s Stone as hard as possible, I knew I had her. She winced at the impact, I couldn’t picture how much pain she probably felt from the strike. It didn’t crack the stone, but it did leave her shaking just a bit.
  4.
  5. She blinked in honest confusion, “And… and what was that supposed to–”
  6.
  7. “Konso.” I growled.
  8.
  9. Light and sound surrounded us, filling the dark tunnel in blinding shades of white.
  10.
  11. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  12.
  13. The detonation of light and sound was expected. The screaming was… not. Thousands and thousands of screams, countless people, all of them crying for help or for family, some screaming about love or hate, others reciting poetry, others still just babbled incoherently. And through the sea of souls, I saw something.
  14.
  15. I saw a figure that did not belong at all, the figure of a feminine slip of a thing that, though it was only a largely featureless face, clearly belonged to only one being. The true face of the homunculus Lust, it resembled Greed’s just enough that I could not mistake it.
  16.
  17. The souls around us were disappearing one after another, by the hundreds. The world, once filled with an angry red of these former people, had begun to turn into a black emptiness. A black emptiness that gave way to a familiar place – Lust was shouting in pain and trying to grasp at souls as they left, to little avail.
  18.
  19. She reached out with what must have been hands and her long fingers slipped through them, each and every one. Behind our forms, massive doors began to form. I recognized one as being the Senkaimon. The other, however, clearly belonged to Hell.
  20.
  21. Not every soul was innocent. And the Zanpakuto purged souls as they were, appropriately, sorting them to where they were meant to go. Hopefully, I thought, the souls would have their memories of this place stripped away with time. Until then, I was fairly sure there wouldn’t be much issue in dealing with the sudden influx.
  22.
  23. For many of those former people, the Soul Society was better than nothing. In front of me, Lust had fallen. She was nothing but a shadow, a literal shadow, of her former self. Made of a black substance with blue lines, like nodes, tracing their way along her body, she all but awaited judgment.
  24.
  25. “You… You complete bastard…” she did not growl at me, but she glared. Pure hatred burned in my direction. With a wave of my hand, it was nothing. The gate to Hell and the Senkaimon both closed, leaving us alone in a black void. Slowly, that same void disappeared. Light began to shine all around us.
