  1. >“So, lemme get this straight, we’re not going to those weird fancy places you said last night but to a city market, right?”
  2. “That’s correct! Though, we can go back to our original schedule if you want”.
  3. >Resonance scratched the back of his head as a huge, almost relieved smile appeared on his face, “Nah, I like this change a lot! To be honest with ya, I ain’t a fan of stuck-up joints and stuff like that” His eyes then darted back to our surroundings as the expression became one of innocent curiosity, “I just don’t get why you dragged me to the castle gardens”.
  4. >A fairly understandable question, especially considering the fanfare in which we announced our improvised tour. There was also the hurry in which we took Resonance with us and dismissed his little friend.
  5. >It was such that the only thing we had time to do was to pick up our saddlebags and a few sacks of bits, breakfast and every other activity scheduled for this morning had to be promptly postponed.
  6.
  7. >Of course, I already had an answer planned, I always do. This is an essential skill in my line of business, and that’s why I felt a tad frustrated that Luna interrupted me before I could say anything, “A huge apologize, my dearest Resonance. I am sure this is not the surprise that you expected, but there is some matters that we have to attend first”.
  8. >Sharp like a dagger, Resonance immediately raised an eyebrow and looked at Luna right in the eye, “Wait, this smells like bad news…” He then dropped his ears in disappointment and kicked the ground, “Aw, c’mon! Don’t tell me you gotta do some work!”
  9. >I had to quickly intervene before this escalated out of our control. I quickly pushed Luna to a side and sat in front of Resonance so all of his attention could be focused on me and my voice.
  10. “Of course not, this is our day-off, remember? What Luna wants to say, is that we need to take a couple extra steps before we can go on with our day”.
  11. >After another subtle glare at Luna, I used a simple levitation spell to perfectly place him in front of us, then I gave him a little colt and a confident smile.
  12. “Don’t worry that pretty little head about anything, just relax and enjoy the show”.
  13. >I took a deep breath, closed my eyes, relaxed every muscle in my body and focused as hard as a pony could to block any sort of outside noise. The type of spell that I aimed to cast demanded such a high degree skill, power and perfection, that only very few ponies throughout history have been able to do it… but with me being me, well, I had more than enough to spare.
  14.
  15. >First, I had to channel a higher sum of raw magic which would then be refined into the specialized streams that would allow me to mold matter into any shape I desired. This wasn’t the issue, the real difficulty came in casting two different samples at the same time, one for me and one for Luna.
  16. >Now, I’m not the sort of pony who makes grandiose claims without backing them up. So yes, as challenging as the whole endeavor was, I managed to make all the necessary preparations and the full spell casting process in about five minutes.
  17. >When I finally opened my eyes, Resonance was standing on his now trembling hooves, the poor thing was left with mouth agape as he tried and failed to utter a word. What can I say? I like to do magic with style.
  18. >After stretching my limbs and adjusting myself, I walked up to him and after gently closing his mouth with my hoof, I smiled at him.
  19. “So, I can safely assume that you enjoyed our little surprise, huh?”
  20. >Resonance carefully scanned me from hooves to head and back, he then took a moment to digest his thoughts before finally forcing himself to come up with a reply, “I just can’t believe it, man! You look like completely different ponies! Well… kinda? It’s hard to explain, like you look familiar and not at the same time. Heck even your voice is like you but… I dunno, younger maybe? I really dunno how to explain it”.
  21.
  22. “Do you like it, though?”
  23. >Luna used her magic to take out a pocket mirror from her saddlebag and inspected herself in the same way she does before a formal event, “I really enjoy what you did here, Celie”. She then turned to me with a sly smirk on her face, “It feels very… nostalgic”.
  24. >I let out a small giggle, my sister saw right through my intentions. I had chosen our looks to be almost exactly like they were before becoming the rulers of Equestria, when we were young and without any worry in the whole wide world.
  25. >My mane was nothing special, which is something that I genuinely missed. I much rather have the dark pink pony-tail that I had over the multicolored rippling mess that I have been forced to use for centuries. Not so sure about how Luna felt, but I always loved how she looked with that short and messy cyan mane that she used to have.
  26. >It wasn’t exactly the same of course, for example Luna’s rather stylish cutie mark was replaced by a telescope looking at a constellation. Mine was even simpler, nothing more than a triangular glass refracting a ray of light. I couldn’t help it, optics was a massive passion of mine when I was a kid.
  27. >The biggest change of course came in the fact that we “weren’t” alicorns anymore. Luna was a pegasi while I adopted the form of a unicorn, I would have chosen an earth-pony but you never know when you’ll need some magic.
  28.
  29. >Now, as impressive as it was, the spell wasn’t nearly as powerful compared to what a changeling could do. The effect could only last for a few hours before wearing off completely. Still, it was more than enough to avoid any and all sort of unnecessary gossip.
  30. >Coming back to Resonance… well, that poor thing was still trying his best to understand what had just happened. He galloped in circles around us, only stopping to inspect something that he had found particularly interesting.
  31. >While this entire activity was born out of the necessity to learn more about him, one thing was sure to me, and is that he wasn’t acting in a mindless manner. Resonance has shown to unquestionably possess the mind of a prodigy.
  32. >After passing one final inspection to Luna’s mane, he looked at me right in the eye and spoke with a lot of reservation behind his voice, “This is like the coolest disguise I’ve seen, man! Can’t believe you gotta do all of this just to avoid getting everyone’s attention”.
  33. >Luna was taken completely by surprise, so much that she could only mumble in confusion, “I beg your pardon?”
  34. >“Yeah, that’s why you had to change your looks, right? I mean… I ain’t an expert on like to be a princess, but I bet someone like you hanging around a market with someone like me would make up for a whole lotta dumb gossip and stuff like that”.
  35.
  36. >As hilarious as it was to see my little sister all confused, I had to divert the conversation back to its original subject. Call it vanity, but I really wanted to know Resonance’s opinion on my current looks… besides a nice compliment from the right pony can really make my day.
  37. “I can’t say you’re incorrect, but don’t keep me waiting. Tell me straight to the point, how do we look?”
  38. >Resonance crossed his front hooves and raised an eyebrow as he gave us a cautious look, “Promise you won’t get mad?”
  39. >Oh dear, those words never bring good news. Disappointing? Sure, but I couldn’t be mad at him, after all, it was me who insisted on his opinion. I raised my right front hoof while placing the left one over my chest, then I motioned a cross over it.
  40. “We swear on our very honor as princesses! Isn’t that right, my dear sister?”
  41. >Luna offered him a courteous nod and a kind smile, “My dearest Resonance, I promise that there is absolutely nothing to fear”.
  42. >“Alright, sure…” He nodded again before finally throwing all caution out of the window, “I think you ladies look way better like this. I mean, you always look awesome… but I dunno, there’s something about this style that I like a whole lotta more”.
  43. >Luna and I looked at each other, considered how relieved she seemed to be, I think she was expecting the same fatalistic response. We simply burst out laughing before we turned to Resonance and tenderly hugging him.
  44.
  45. >Children’s innocence is something so wonderful, his response wasn’t something he planned to make us feel better, it wasn’t part of a grand scheme, just his honest feelings laying bare. The fact he was so confused by everything made it even better, “Uh… did I say something wrong?”
  46. >Luna buried her muzzle onto his mane and whispered with all the maternal love in the world, “Far from it, my dearest son”.
  47. >I giggled like a school filly and gave him a kiss on the cheek, then I joined my sister in caressing his little messy mane.
  48. “To tell you truth, we sort of feel the same, my sweet little sunshine”.
  49. >Resonance’s face quickly adopted a perfectly crimson color, so much that I thought steam would start shooting from his ears. He started to wail his hooves around, trying to break our hug while he yelled, “Alright, I get it… geez! Can we go to market now please?!”
  50. >We arrived to the Canterlot’s Historical Bazaar about 20 minutes later. It was quite comforting to see how little this place had change since the last time I paid it a visit. Just the same lively bazaar with its colorful shopping tents of all sizes, shapes and patterns, and their loud but kind merchants offering everything you can imagine.
  51.
  52. >Really, the only new additions as far as I could tell were “You’re here” maps, and a couple statues depicting me and Luna. I always felt uncomfortable by baving statues made after me, but the maps were a fantastic addition considering how easy it was to get lost in this place.
  53. >Sadly, Luna didn’t seem to be having that much of a good time. She tried to act serene and composed, but it was crystal clear that her anxiety was coming back in full force. After a couple minutes, she discreetly approached me and whispered into my ear, “Are you absolutely sure that this was the right idea?”
  54. >Easiest answer ever, I only had to smile at her and point at Resonance.
  55. “See it for yourself”.
  56. >It’s hard to describe how excited Resonance was. He looked like a hummingbird frantically snapping from tent to tent and then back to us. At some point he’d pull from Luna’s leg to point out at the market, “Yo, this place’s sick! It’s so much better than the trash we had at the slums!” Then his gaze would fixate on a tent and pull harder, “Hey, what’s that? Can we go see it?”
  57. >Luna could barely handle all of this excitement, it was an honest miracle that Resonance didn’t make her fall over. Luna finally caved in and gave Resonance a nervous smile, “Of course, of course! Just give me a second and we shall go wherever you want!”
  58. >I approached my sister and after leaning closer to her, I smirked while handing her a small bag filled with bits.
  59. “You were saying?”
  60. > One of the particular traits that I found both annoying and adorable about Luna was how much of a sore loser she was. Like a little filly who couldn’t get her way, Luna groaned in frustration as she snatched the bag of bits out of my hoof, “Oh, shut up!”
  61.
  62. “Oh come on, Luna, it’s not that bad! We’re going to learn more about son, and that’s all what matters, right?”
  63. >Her only response was to roll her eyes and groan before walking with Resonance to a nearby tent that sold… hardware tools.
  64. “What the…?”
  65. >This had to be a mistake, why would a colt of his age get interested in this kind of stuff? Could this be a practical joke on Luna? No, that didn’t seem right considering his excitement. Maybe he got confused and thought those tools were actually toys? That wouldn’t make sense considering his background. The only way to get a proper answer was to step in and get an answer for myself.
  66. >Imagine my surprise when I discovered that Resonance was indeed interested in buying the actual tools. He even behaved like this was everyday’s business for him, “How much for the screwdrivers set? Not those copper ones, I mean the stuff you have over there. Oh and these wrenches too!”
  67. >The merchant was a large earth stallion wearing a little red cap. He let out a belly laughter and patted Resonance, “Ah think yer a little too young to play with these things, kiddo. Why don’t ya bring yer dad so we can make sum’ business?”
  68.
  69. >Resonance shook his head and let out a deep and tired sigh, “C’mon, man, don’t be like that!” He then pointed at me and Luna and started acting all sad and pitiful in a fairly convincing way, “We come from an orphanage. We just wanted to buy some gear we need to repair all those holes in the roofs, and change all those water pipes. We haven’t had clean water in months, man!”
  70. >“I-I’m sorry! I-I didn’t…” The stallion removed his cap and held it close to his chest, then he cleared his throat and tried to speak in the gentlest way he could, “Listen, I-I ‘ave an idea! Usually I’d charge folks 54 bits for the tools ya want, but I’ll make a special discount just for ya! You can take the screwdrivers, the wrenches and everythin’ else for 26 bits… I-I’ll also throw this nice hammer here for free!”
  71. >Luna was completely and, to be honest, predictably astonished by this move. She has always held high ideals about honesty, of course she’d react negatively by this. She immediately moved Resonance to a side and vehemently returned the tools to the merchant, “My deepest apologies good sir. While we are most humbled by your exceptional kindness, we simply cannot take your offer. We shall…eep!”
  72. >Of course, Resonance was even faster to respond. He jumped back and placed both of his hooves over Luna’s mouth to shut her up, then he turned to the stallion with a solemn face, “Sorry for that, man. She’s… well she has been through a lot. Sometimes she doesn’t know when to take a helping hoof, y’know?”
  73. >The stallion gently nodded as he patted Resonance’s head and handed back everything to him, “Ya don’t need to say no more, kiddo. I understand what life can do to sum’ folks. Take care out there, alright?”
  74.
  75. >Resonance smiled sheepishly as he took all of the tools and motioned me to pay the poor stallion, “Seriously, man! Thank you a lot, this is just the stuff we need to get everything up and running!”
  76. >Luna shot me a glare that would have made even the wildest beast to cower in fear, and in but nonetheless, I still handled the bits to the merchant instead of clarifying that everything was a ruse like I should have. My mind simply couldn’t process anything straight after seeing just how… resourceful my son could be.
  77. >Once we walked away from the store and Resonance was busy inspecting tent after tent, Luna tugged my shoulder to snap me back into reality. Then, she whispered to me while keeping a close eye on our son, “You have no idea about how much I want to reprimand you for what you allowed back there! However, let us postpone that issue, as well as the obvious talk we must have with our dearest Resonance. Tell me, Celie, have you made any breakthrough in our mission?”
  78. “I’m right where we started, how about you?”
  79. >“Honestly, I am in the same position” Luna said with a tone of concern in her voice, “I really hope this plan of yours really works, Celie”.
  80. “Oh relax, everything will be fine! There’s at least a thousand different merchants in this market, we just have to keep trying, that’s all! And look, our Resonance already picked another vendor!”
  81. >“Very well, Celie…” With the calm and elegance that defined her, Luna raised an eyebrow and pointed at the tent, “Could you please explain to me, why would a little colt be interested in empty glass jars?”
  82. “…Yes”.
  83.
  84. >Much to our dismay, Resonance simply kept choosing to stop at the most unexpected vendors to buy whatever seemingly random objects he could find. One moment he’d buy a little fan from a toy vendor and the other he’d buy different scraps of wire from a blacksmith. At least he didn’t try to scam any more merchants, I’ll have to thank Luna’s ice cold glare for that.
  85. >A little before noon we decided to put this nightmare on hold and told Resonance that it was time to have a nice lunch. We went to the food court, where Luna and I decided to sit at a small table and order something, while Resonance happily went off to inspect the many food carts.
  86. >Luna choose elaborated salad that I’m sure would make any experienced nutritionist proud. Not surprising, she has always taken an immense amount of care of her honestly enviable figure. After fidgeting with it for a couple seconds, she took a bite and let out a sigh, “Celie, what in Equestria are we going to do?”
  87. >Unlike her, I got a simple yet tasting looking chocolate muffing with some little sprinkles on top. As delicious as it looked like, the stress I was feeling made it impossible to delve into its sugary decadence. I put the muffin aside, and rubbed my temples.
  88.
  89. “Have a migraine, that’s what we’re going to do! Can you believe that kid? The stuff he’s been picking, it’s like he’s trying to evade us on purpose… ugh! I just can’t do it, Luna…”
  90. >Luna let out a sigh and walked over me. She then looked deep into my eyes, almost as if she was staring into my very soul and with a kind smile she said, “I know that you are feeling a great frustration, Celie, but listen to what you are saying. This plan has not worked the way you might have intended, but when are we not facing all sorts of unexpected challenges? This is nothing new to us, and I know that you are more than capable of coming up with a solution, because you always do. So please, drop that attitude and stand proud again. My big sister never gives up!”
  91. >I stood a few moments in silence before finally caving in and giving Luna a tight hug. I can’t thank the heavens to have her again with me.
  92. “You’re the best sister in the whole world, you knew that?”
  93. >She let out a small giggle as she patted my back “I am very well aware of that fact, thank you very much”. She then broke the hug and tapped my muzzle with her hoof, “And next time, leave all of the worry and stress to me, okay?”
  94. >“Oh, man! Those guys have frickin’ everything! Did you know they fry potatoes on a whole lotta oil? They’re called fries too, how crazy is that?!” This little moment was cut short by Resonance, he happily put his plate on the table and looked at us with nothing short of pure excitement, “And check this out, they come with this thing called a hay burger with cheese! This is so cool, man!”
  95.
  96. >He took a hefty bite from the burger and munched some of the fries. After swallowing everything in one gulp, he looked to us with a mix of curiosity and concern, “So, uh… I was thinking… why are you ladies not buying anything? I’m not spending all the bits, right?”
  97. >Amidst all of my concerns, I had completely forgotten about how keen Resonance could be. A rookie mistake, but nothing to be concerned about. All I had to do was to do put out a nice, and simple reply that would give Resonance the security he could continue shopping without worrying.
  98. “Puh-lease! Who do you think you’re talking to? We’ve more than enough bits to spare. It’s just that… we want to focus on you first, isn’t that right, Luna?”
  99. >Seems like my sister was thinking the exact same thing. With the regality that characterizes her, she sat on her chair and caressed his mane, “Absolutely, as your parents it is our duty to ensure that your happiness and well-being come before ours”.
  100. >Despite all of this, or maybe because of it, Resonance looked at each of us like if we were a couple of crazy mares. After a couple seconds, he finally shrugged it off and took another bite of his burger, “Okay… I mean, you ain’t gotta worry about that. I’m pretty much done, y’know?”
  101. “Wha…?”
  102. >My head started to pulsate and my left eye twitched uncontrollably. I leaned on the table, doing my best to not pass out, and with a forced smile I asked.
  103. “So… you’re not going to buy anything else then?”
  104. >After finishing his burger, Resonance shook his head and shrugged without a care in the world, “Nah, I’ve got everything I wanted! Heck, I even have some spares”.
  105.
  106.
  107. >That small headache suddenly became a full-on migraine, I swear that I was ready to just drop on the ground and start crying. Thankfully, Resonance still had more to say, “D-Don’t get me wrong! It’s cool you ladies care about me, but I really wanna know what kinda stuff you’re into too, y’know? So yeah, don’t worry about me, I know you ladies work your butts off every single day, so just have some fun!”
  108. >Luna and I looked at each other, and I like to think that the same thing crossed our heads at that moment. That maybe we focused so much on our own worries about not knowing him enough that we didn’t consider that Resonance might have felt the same way than us.
  109. >I nodded at my sister and then walked up to Resonance before I gently stoked his cheek.
  110. “What do you say if we get out of here and go back to our family shopping? There’s this guitar that has my name on it”.
  111. >Luna let out a chuckle as she caressed Resonance’s mane with her muzzle, “I could definitely get behind the idea. It just so happens that I am particularly interested in acquiring a set of miniature sculptures that caught my eye”.
  112. >Resonance pulled out from our grasp and scratched the back of his head, “That sounds awesome, but… we can’t go yet”.
  113. “Hmm? Why’s that?”
  114. >He narrowed his eyes at us and pointed at Luna’s salad with genuine sterness, “What do you mean why? You ladies haven’t even touched your meal! I-I mean… I don’t wanna sound like a jerk, it’s just that I hate when food goes to waste, y’know?”
  115.
  116. >That little answer got a chuckle out of me. Neither Luna nor I were feeling hungry, but of course we complied and sat down at the table to have a nice lunch, and after it… well, it was off to have some quality time as a family.
  117. >Hours flew by while we continued to explore the vast contents the bazaar had to offer. The only reason why we didn’t continue until dusk was because of the time limit on the “changeling” spell.
  118. >It was actually Resonance who found a nice hiding spot near the bathroom stalls. Not exactly the most elegant, or breathable place but it was enough for me to teleport the three of us back to the Castle’s gardens.
  119. >Once there, I put off my saddlebag and sat by a small pond as spell finally ran its course and I got back to my regular appearance.
  120. “Aaah! I haven’t had this much fun shopping since… well, time doesn’t matter here. The important thing is that I got my guitar, this amazing dartboard and the softest pillow I’ve ever laid my hooves on!”
  121. >Resonance plummeted by my side, resting his cute little head on my front hooves, “Yeah, that frickin’ pillow must be comfy as heck if you had to punch that stallion to get it. I think you knocked a couple teeth outta the guy!”
  122. “Well, that rude gentlecolt and his crystal jaw were asking for a lesson in “rough” negotiations when he called me bubble butt. By the way, I really like that crystal tea set you got there, Luna, pretty exotic if you ask me”.
  123. >Luna opted to rest under the shadow of an elm tree. She was carefully inspecting and polishing all of the fragile decorations that she got, “Mhm! You know how much I love these kind of unique designs, Celie. Besides, they also make for a perfect match with the adorable miniatures I got!”
  124.
  125. “What about you, Resonance. Did you really find everything that you wanted?”
  126. >Luna quickly spoke before he could give a reply, “That reminds me, there is something that I have been meaning to ask you, my dearest Resonance. I hope this does not come off as rude or judgmental, but I cannot help but to be confused by the objects that you were interested by. Could you help me understand what the reasoning behind your choices was?”
  127. >Resonance’s eyes went as wide as plates as a subtle blush made its way on his face. Then, he let out a small chuckle as he scratched the back of his head, “Oh dang, I never told you? Uh, it’s kinda complicated. Y’know, since I’m from literally a different world, I wanted to test if certain stuff works the same here, and I can build the right thing I need with this stuff!”
  128. >I cannot really overstate how surprised I felt by that answer. He was looking for materials to make a… device of sorts. I didn’t have a clue what kind of properties he aimed to search, or how but Resonance had fired up my sense of discovery and wonder like no one had done since… well, Twilight Sparkle.
  129. “That’s actually very interesting. Do you want a helping hoof?”
  130. >He waved his hoof dismissively and shook his head, “Nah, I could do it with my eyes closed. I can literally make it right now, if you ladies want. Shouldn’t take me more than ten minutes”.
  131. >I opened my mouth but I quickly realized that I had no idea about the kind of work he was intending to do. As well intentioned as my suggestion was, I could’ve ended up ruining everything if I continued insisting.
  132. “Very well, I-I’m all up for it!”
  133.
  134. >I decided to go back and sit by my sister, who after a couple minutes of dead silence, was a complete nervous wreck. She kept frantically biting the tip of her front hooves, and looking back and forth from Resonance to me, “Are you sure that allowing a small colt to manipulate hardware tools, sharp ones I might add, was a good idea, Celie?”
  135. “Not really, but this the best chance we’ve had all day… besides we’re supervising him, so it can’t be that bad, right?”
  136. >Luna gulped and combed her mane, “I should probably start looking for the first-aid kit”.
  137. “I’ll check up on him, if anything’s wrong then I’ll put a stop it. Does that sound ok with you?”
  138. >She frantically nodded, and sat on the grass with her eyes firmly locked on Resonance, “Yes, before social services come looking for us”.
  139. >I rolled my eyes and walked up to my son, who by this point, was completely absorbed on his work. His eyes, covered by those old goggles, had the look of an experienced artisan working on his craft. He used his mouth to manipulate whatever tool he needed to use while using his hooves to quickly swap between them.
  140. “Hey, Resonance? Do you need some help with… that thing you’re making?”
  141. >My sweet little son didn’t pay much attention to me, he simply adjusted his goggles, and gave me a rushed reply before going back to work, “Nah, I’m almost done with this. Just gotta make sure some stuff is in the right place and we’re good to go!”
  142. “Alright… just be careful, okay?”
  143. >This was probably the best I could do without coming off as obnoxious, so I decided to come back to Luna, who upon my arrival, immediately started to assault me with questions, “What happened? What did he say? Is he hurt? Please tell me that all of his cute, little limbs are still attached to his body!”
  144.
  145. “Luna, calm down! Resonance says everything’s fine and to be honest with you… I believe him, that colt has real experience handling hardware tools”.
  146. >“I need a glass of cider… or the entire bottle right about now”.
  147. >After a couple minutes of nervous silence, Resonance proudly nodded to himself and motioned us to come over, “Alright, ladies! What do you think?”
  148. >With lightning fast speed, Luna extended her wings and flew to meet Resonance. I have to be honest, I think she looked way more relieved now than when Tirek was vanquished, “My dearest Resonance, this is the most wonderful… what am I looking at exactly?”
  149. >Unlike my sister, I managed to keep my cool and simply trotted over to Resonance. Sure, I was boiling with excitement to see what my son had in store, but I’d be a fool to let an opportunity to tease Luna pass by.
  150. “Oh, my poor and sweet little sister. You really have to get out more often! This is clearly a perfect example of…. Yeah, what is this thing supposed to be?”
  151. >Never in my life had I seen such a simple and crude, yet bizarre and alien device like the one Resonance was proudly holding within his hooves.
  152. >For some reason, he attached the jars all over the wooden base, while also installing the little fan at the far end of it. All of this seemed to be connected by a series of wires and metallic cilinders, to the inside of the jars. Just what in the world was he intending to do?
  153. >Noticing our unending confusion, Resonance let out a sigh, took off his goggles and scratched the back of his head, “Man, I kinda forgot Equestria’s really behind the times, huh? Alright, I can explain what this lil’ thing’s supposed to do, but I think it’d be way better if I just show you first. I just need a good air flow to get this thing started, so uh… could you ladies flap your wings, please?”
  154.
  155. >While Luna and I certainly found this request to be a bit on the odd side, neither of us found a good reason to deny it either. We both used our wings to create just a small gust of wind. The little fan started to spin, making the wires to become hotter and hotter the faster it spun. The moment they obtained a pure crimson color… well, that’s when we got the surprise of a lifetime.
  156. >The device was pulsating with light, it sort of reminded me of the small crystals ponies use as decorations during the winter holidays. Except this wasn’t using any sort of magic, or had fireflies encased in the jars… this was something else. Something I hadn’t seen before.
  157. >Once we stopped flapping our wings and the light died out, we just stood there, looking at our son in absolute amazement.
  158. >“This is… Resonance, this is the most impressive thing that I have seen!”
  159. “Truly remarkable, how does it work without magic, though?”
  160. >Resonance let out a small laugh as he patted his invention, “Is super simple, actually! Basically the circuit here transforms the kinetic energy from the fan into electricity, which in turns powers the light. I wanted to see if electricity existed in Equestria, and well, it does! Now I can start thinking on doing the real cool stuff!”
