  5. Magic: Magic the manipulation of mana using will. There are many forms, techniques, and results of magic.
  6.
  7. Mana: Mana is a background force that tries to exist in all places at all times. It is easily shaped by outside forces, to the point that "pure mana" may not even exist.
  8.
  9. Will: Simple intent. All entities exert will. Plants, humans, gods, insects, ghosts. Some exert will more powerful than others, through training or intrinsically: magi, for instance, usually train to detect and force their will on mana. Gods are naturally capable.

  11. Magic can take many forms. Naturally, however, humanity has attempted to categorize the uses of magic into various forms, known as schools.
  12.
  13. The "Big Three" schools of magic are as follows:
  14.
  15. Evocation: Shaping raw mana into desired effects. Evocation spells are usually short lived and direct. Most of them are immediate, without requiring time for ritualism or even much preparation at all.
  16. The three classes of evocation are: evoking, enchanting, and invoking. Evoking is the primary use of evocation, primarily used to form mana into physical events, such as a fireball or force bolt. Enchanting is infusing mana, shaped to various properties, into a substance. Invoking is similar to enchanting, but to a living body. This is generally used to grant temporary physical boosts. However, even willing participants of an invocation, including the caster himself, seem to passively resist any effects rendered through this method.
  17.
  18. Abjuration: Denial of events using magic. Abjuration is usually a primarily defensive school. By using force to stop physical attacks and mana manipulation to deny magi of their power, abjurers can be defensive terrors.
