  1. >Anon is "Invited" by Twilight to Lauren/Equus/PonyWorld/Whatever while trying to cast a new spell.
  2.
  3. "What the..."
  4.
  5. >By external elements, the differences between the human world and the pony and others mumbo jumbo yadda yadda, Anon cannot return to his world.
  6.
  7. "FUCK..."
  8.
  9. >Anon passes through the Kubler-Ross model and comes to accept that he perhaps will never return to Earth, and that he is the only Homo Sapien in a world inhabited by color horses, minotaurs, dragons and other creatures of fable.
  10.
  11. "Nah... ok, could be worse, at least here no one forced me to stand for someone accepted by society."
  12.
  13. >Anon discovers that Equestria shares many similarities with Earth, but one...
  14. >Magic.
  15. >He also realizes Equestria's devices and mechanisms are approaching the level of technology standard to which he is accustomed, though most of them need at least three vital elements to work.
  16. >Jewelry, magic... and Unicorns.
  17.
  18. >Anon asks Twilight how magic works, and the explanation lets him analyze and come to the conclusion that magic in Equestria is only a different interpretation of the laws of nature adapted to the unique qualities of this world.
  19. >Anon then asks himself if the principles of Human Science can adapt to Pony Magic.
  20. >Anon tests his theory, and after a week of experimentation, trial and error, shows the results to Twilight.
  21. >A rustic propulsion system jetpack, with a primitive system of manual control.
  22. >Anon uses the device and gets raised 5 meters above the ground, before losing control and crashing into the office of Mayor Mare.
  23. >After many apologies to the Mayor, the payment of the damages, and recriminations by Twilight, she forbids Anon to ever try to invent something more complex than a Sandwich (Meatless because pigs and turkeys are considered conscious creatures and cannibalism is punishable with Tartarus in Equestria.)
  24. >Usually other ponies would obey the order and things would end well, just as a 22 minute children cartoon containing a lesson moral would.
  25.
  26. >But Anon is not a pony, and much less from Equestria.
  27.
  28. >Anon is determined by two things: to show Twilight that technology can match the magic of Equestria, and to find a way to return to his world.
  29.
  30. >For now, Anon decides to keep a low profile, get a job first as a blacksmith, a place where a pair of hands, an idea, a determination, may be occupied and able to contribute to society, as well as spend the next months improving their designs and preconceptions, with the wise advice from a master blacksmith, while, through the curiosity of various clients, making different instruments that supply non-unicorn ponies with the ability to finish magical tasks:
  31.
  32. >Mechanical hands that can be used in the place of hooves to facilitate and improve the performance of arduous tasks, a development method to improve the ability of increased lens microscopes, which make it easier for doctors to improve their analysis, systems of elevators that first work with pulleys and then steam, and finally, a rudimentary lighting system.
  33.
  34. >Anon's accomplishments achieve notoriety, and acquires a reputation that removes the stigma the ponies initially had, of a cannibal hairless ape.
  35. >Eventually, he gets a little cash to get himself independent, and buys a house that becomes his invention workshop, making him a person known throughout Equestria as the "Inventor".
  36.
  37. >His machines, created to improve work and lives, makes everypony happy.
  38.
  39. >Everypony, except Twilight
  40.
  41. >Twilight is angry with Anon- no, she's FURIOUS.
  42.
  43. >Anon promised he would not invent the ridiculous gadgets that don't even work, and they threaten both him and everypony else.
  44. >And now, not only did he break his promise, but he makes the other ponies believe their machines can replace magic and the effort of the WHOLE community, believing instead that one pony is able to do what would normally would take a dozen or more performing in a day's work.
  45.
  46. >And the worst part, is that he makes them all believe that he's NOT using magic!
  47.
  48. >Obviously, Anon is using a kind of human magic, because as Twilight, the star student of Princess Celestia, the Element of Magic, AND the Princess of friendship, it is impossible to believe that Anon created those things using only his claws- addendums -han- whatever, and the ideas in his head to build the simple, unique, extraordinary things that nopony had even THOUGHT to do before, because even if somepony did before, noPONY is really needed!
  49.
  50. >For your own sake, and of course, the sake of Equestria, Anon must be stopped.
  51.
  52. >Dear Princess Celestia ...
  53. >It has been 8 months, 3 weeks and 5 days since Anon was expelled from Equestria.
  54. >Following your orders, we arranged all the inventions and tools that he had built and made a requisition of everypony who was in possession of his creations.
  55. >At first, there were some difficulties, because a few ponies insisted on keeping them, but after showing them the Edict signed by you, they agreed to deliver, even with regret.
  56. >Contrary to what we thought at first, the Anon inventions were not only used by the inhabitants of Ponyville, but also Las Pegasus, Manehattan, and even places as far away as Appleloosa and Vanhoover.
  57. >We have reports that inventions have also been found in Griffinstone, The Aldebaran Horde, and even the Crystal Empire.
  58. >Every kingdom except the latter refused any negotiation to deliver the artifacts.
  59. >I think the simple fact that we want them makes them think they are more valuable than they really are.
  60. >Once we acquired most of their equipment, we proceeded to destroy them.
  61. >The only thing that really saddened me was having to take the inventions Anon had created specifically for my friends.
  62. >The irrigation system, and a strange metal wagon with a huge plow on the back, created for Applejack, which was apparently built to help with harvesting wheat, simply named a "tractor".
  63. >Then there was a wind tunnel(?) for Rainbow Dash, to help improve her resistance to adverse weather conditions and increase maneuverability.
  64. >A sewing machine made especially for Rarity, whose diamond needle could refine even the hardest gem.
  65. >One Automatic feeding system for animals of Fluttershy and...
  66. >Can you actually believe that ANON was the one who created the cheese ice cream cake with lunar blackberries? Pinkie Pie insists that he even built a portable cooling system to distribute it throughout Equestria! She Pinkie-Promised!
  67. >Anyway, this, and all the inventions have been destroyed, and the "science," as he called it, will no longer THREATEN the peace and harmony of Equestria!
  68. >...Still, despite all of this being done for the welfare of everypony, even I cannot shake my head of the words of Ditzy Doo, when we took her corrective lenses, one of the gifts of Anon who claimed it would help with her vision problems when flying:
  69. >"I-I don't understand," Ditzy Doo said with tears in her eyes, watching the guards destroy her lenses with a hammer "H-how can something that does so much good, be so bad?"
  70. >Sincerely,
  71. >Twilight Sparkle.
  72.
  73. >Months ago, on the advice of Twilight Sparkle, Princess Celestia ordered the human Anon travel to Canterlot, to be submitted to a board of experts and scholars about his unnatural activities against the peaceful order of the kingdom of Equestria.
  74.
  75. >Twilight expected to Anon reconsider his actions, and accept that the manner in which the ponies did things was the best and only the right to live, that his outrageous machines, metal appliances, and steam, caused more problems than it solved, and when real problems were present, ponies would always have the Magic of Friendship to emerge victorious.
  76.
  77. >At first, Anon willingly accepted to go show his "technology," and the good it could do for everypony, but the experts in Canterlot are mostly noble Unicorns, looking at Anon like one beast only second to Tirek, the monster that had left Tartarus to steal their magic, their dignity, and most importantly, the position of power over the entire pony class.
  78.
  79.
  80. >"...You do all these things?" asks the senior judge unicorn.
  81.
  82. "Of course!" Anon replies enthusiastically, "If I-"
  83.
  84. >"Guards! Arrest him!" the Judge orders the Grand Magistrate, bringing in two heavy horses with sharp spears.
  85. >They pounce onto Anon, knocking one of his inventions to the floor and shattering it.
  86.
  87. "WHAT THE?!-"
  88.
  89. >Anon ended up being arrested on charges of sedition.
  90. >Twilight tried to protest, but as the Great Judge, an elected official by the Parliament, he was not subject to the authority of the Princesses, as it would undermine the people's confidence in their sovereign.
  91.
  92. >Twilight spoke to the Princess, but Celestia clarified that, as a Princess of Equestria, she must respect the guidelines of the law, and using her title in such a way would be taken as an act of nepotism.
  93. >Yet, she promised that Anon would be treated with dignity, and would have the right to a defense, and that the trial would be in a week and so.
  94. >Anon would be detained, meanwhile.
  95.
  96. >Though, the strangest thing of all, is Anon, instead of arguing or fighting had remained calm, and only requested books, encyclopedias of History, Geography, Politics, Law and even Magic, as well as denying the presence of a pony lawyer.
  97.
  98. "No problem, I will defend myself."
  99.
  100. >"I've been told that one who respects himself has a fool for a client," his cell-guard says.
  101.
  102. "Then I have the perfect lawyer!" Anon answers with a smile, before going back to his books.
  103.
  104. >A week later, and the trial begins in anticipation of Equestria media containing the last breath.
  105.
  106. >The charges are read, the reports said, the witnesses interviewed, the evidence presented, the tests shown.
  107.
  108. >And Anon is silent on each count.
  109.
  110. >The Great Judge harasses with the rudeness from his title, and with the inflexibility of his authority, even passed the testimonies of the Elements of Harmony, and all advocates for the innocence of Anon.
  111.
  112. >Another week, and the case becomes increasingly controversial.
  113. >The controversy over the true nature of the trial encourages doubt from the population of Equestria.
  114. >'What is the crime of the hairless monkey?' "Dis he try to use his devices to enslave the ponies?' 'Was he planning a coup against the princess?' 'Did The Great Magistrate use this judgment to return as the most powerful pony after Celestia?' 'Are Anon's inventions are as fantastic as the ponies say?'
  115.
  116. >Then finally, the day of the verdict is here.
  117.
  118. >Because of the controversy generated by the trial, and the damage to his reputation, the Great Judge, the Council of Elders, and Princess Celestia herself give the ultimatum to Anon.
  119. >"Withdraw all of your pernicious ideas and publicly apologize to the Princesses, or else face expulsion from the Kingdom of Equestria!"
  120.
  121. "...Can I think?"
  122.
  123. >"ANSWER NOW!" the Great Judge shouts, losing the last bit of his mane.
  124.
  125. >"Apologize, Anon!" Twilight shouts, concerned about the absurd stubbornness of Anonymous, "There's no shame in admitting you were wrong!"
  126.
  127. "Wrong? Wrong in what?"
  128.
  129. >"In science not being better than magic!"
  130.
  131. >The look of Anonymous, once serene and cheerful, deepens into an angry and serious expression.
  132.
  133. "Your Honor, the jury ponies, everypony... More than six months ago, I was brought to his world against my will," he says, looking at Twilight, who lowers her head sheepishly, "And after surviving the culture shock, (and three consecutive Pinkie holidays of my arrival, the acquisition of my citizenship, AND the inauguration of my workshop,) and the fact that I can NEVER go back to my home, in spite of all the promises made to me, I convinced myself that the only way to move forward was to make use of my unique talent: my intellect- please, do not misunderstand me, you are great creatures. You do things that my species could never hope to do, but there ARE some things that can be done better with just a little help, and that's my inventions- an extra pair of hooves."
  134.
  135. "Is not that what Harmony is?"
  136.
  137. "To do your part in the grand scheme of things?"
  138.
  139. "Do whatever you have to do, ponies..."
  140.
  141. "BUT I, HAVE NOTHING TO APOLOGIZE FOR!!!"
  142.
  143. >If looks could kill...
  144.
  145. >The Great Judge attempted to condemn Anonymous to Tartarus, but the right only belonged to Celestia, so instead, Anonymous was condemned to exile, which was a huge surprise to everypony, as in over a thousand years, no one had been condemned to the Badlands.
  146.
  147. >I, who takes very stoically, almost happily, tried to talk to him, ask him to recant, to apologize, to push his foolishness aside and recognize his error.
  148.
  149. >...But I'll never forget the look he gave me.
  150. >The sickened combination of disappointment and disgust.
  151.
  152.
  153. >So, Anon was conducted in a carriage by Pegasi, with nothing more than his clothes and a bag of provisions, and taken to the Badlands.
  154.
  155. >And Anonymous the Human went away, leaving behind the Kingdom of Equestria, divided into two.
  156.
  157. >Now, Equestria has changed.
  158.
  159. >-No, the WORLD has changed, but Equestria refused to change.
  160.
  161. >No one expected so many ponies to leave their homes, jobs, and families to follow Anonymous to the Badlands.
  162.
  163. >With the massive absence of Earth Ponies and Pegasi, the lifestyle of the Canterlot Unicorns suffered a big change, having been accustomed to having everything on a silver platter only because they could use magic, and now having to engage in farming, weather control, construction and many other jobs that the Not-Unicorns had handled so well.
  164.
  165.
  166. >The Elite of Canterlot locked itself in a bubble of elitism and arrogance, forcing Princess Celestia to finally dissolve the parliament and call a series of social reforms, as well as repeal noble privileges, as they weren't nobles, but ponies, as the Princess did well to remind them.
  167.
  168. >Meanwhile, with the help of the ponies, Anonymous built a city in the middle of nowhere.
  169. >Everypony said it was a madness that would be devoured by the monsters of the desert, or eventually succumb to hunger and thirst.
  170.
  171. >But after nine years, they have expanded their territory to the sea, establishing its borders to lie from the mountains to the Valley of Despair.
  172.
  173. >"Princess Twilight Sparkle?" One soldier says, "We have arrived."
  174.
  175. >I open my eyes and watch the show before me.
  176. >A city of glass and steel, surrounded by steep mountains that smoke like sleeping dragons, and a fertile valley crossed by a river of silver while in the distance, a tower of iron challenges the horizon.
  177.
  178. >After touching down to what they call an "airport," which led by Pegasi, Griffons and Earth Ponies, I see that the ground is not paved, but a uniform gray segmented with white lines from start to finish, as well as a high tower in yellow, and a smaller, less sober building with large windows showing ponies inside walking from one side to another.
  179.
  180. >"Incredible..." Twilight says quietly.
  181.
  182. "I'm glad you like it... your highness," said a serious, tired, but not defeated voice.
  183.
  184. >Twilight flips around towards the voice, looking in awe at the familiar hairless monkey before her, wearing a worn face and a beard hiding his thin lips, early gray hair crowning his head like a wreath in winter.
  185.
  186. >"Anonymous..." Twilight responds, regret noticeable in her voice.
  187.
  188. "Welcome to Eureka, Princess."
  189.
  190. >He smiles.
  191.
  192. >Oh, how the time has passed...
  193.
  194. >"Yes, I..." Twilight stops herself, then recovers her composure, becoming once again formal, "Greetings Mr. Anonymous, leader of Eureka, I, Twilight Sparkle, representing the Sovereign of the Sun, Princess Celestia, And princess Luna, Sovereign of the Moon, have come to your nation for the purpose of establishing diplomatic relations between the two nations."
  195.
  196. >Anon outlines a short smile.
  197.
  198. "Yeah, just an official visit? I thought you were coming to see me?"
  199.
  200. >"Ahem," she continues, "As the Princess of Friendship, it is my duty to spread harmony among all ponies from and beyond Equestria. Mr. Anonymous, for 9 long years, you and your people have cut off all diplomatic contact with the Kingdom of Equestria, but have established political and commercial alliances with the Gryphon Kingdom, the Horde of the Minotaurs, and even the Zebra Nation, but have refused to accept our ambassadors, or even answer our messages-"
  201.
  202. -"Perhaps it's because you were about to invade under the pretext of protecting your nation with a "preemptive strike," or according to what the Great Judge said... uh, what's his name- Ah!- Tostada!-"
  203.
  204. >"-Torquemada!"
  205.
  206. "Yeah, that crazy old man. He demanded to make a holy war in order to eliminate the, "Hairless demon and traitor ponies who had abandoned the protective mantle of the Princesses," remember?"
  207.
  208.
  209. >"Torquemada actions were a mistake, but he was driven by his devotion to the Princesses in-"
  210.
  211. "But that didn't stop him from using the Alicorn Amulet and trying to destroy my city, now, did it? I'm glad now that he's rotting in tartarus," Anon smiles.
  212.
  213. >"Mister Anonymous! I did not come to talk about the past, but,"- she takes a deep breath- "The future, the future of both nations, and the possibility of-"
  214.
  215. >Anonymous looks at Twilight with a colder expression.
  216.
  217. "You did not come here to talk about peace and love, Princess."
  218.
  219. >"What?"
  220.
  221. "You just came because Equestria needs what we have. Your Princess sent you here because she knew that you could have a better chance at speak with me than the last 20 ambassadors."
  222.
  223. "The truth, is that Equestria desperately needs access to our technology, our science and our development, because in political and military terms, you are delayed logistics over other nations."
  224.
  225. >"That's not true!"
  226.
  227. "-The truth is that your people increasingly relied less on magic because of the repression suffered by the Unicorn class when Torquemada received the title of Chancellor, and your Princess made the mistake of assigning extraordinary powers to control the emigration of its ponies to my homeland when we are TRYING to grow and expand-"
  228.
  229. >"N-no, we only wanted to save Equestria! You STOLE our ponies!"
  230.
  231. "STOLE? These ponies are NOT things I keep in my pockets! They came here of their own accord! I was the first surprised, when they told me of the order from Celestia to DESTROY MY INVENTIONS, just because I was despised by Canterlot snobs that felt they didn't want change, and looked to ME!"
  232.
  233. >"B-but!-"
  234.
  235. "NO BUTS! I was the FIRST one who insisted they return to their homes, but could not overwhelm their determination, nor the Princess'! NONE of you did ANYTHING to stop them at that time, didn't dare to take the road where they would see you as tyrants, so they resorted to Torquemada to do the dirty work, all for the "GOOD" of Equestria!"
  236.
  237. >"None of this would have happened if you hadn't kept up with all this, "SCIENCE"! You PROMISED me you'd never return to do more of the devices we possessed-"
  238.
  239. "Not to mention promises Princess, but I well remember the promise you made to me the very same day you took me out of my world and made me fall into this! You PROMISED to do EVERYTHING in you power to find a way to RETURN ME HOME!"
  240.
  241. >Inexplicably, these last words had a profound impact on Twilight, as suddenly all her mental strength and composure crumbled like a house of cards, while she collapsed on her haunches, being forcefully plunged into a state of deep mourning.
  242.
  243. >"You don't think I TRIED? You don't think I haven't looked all around Equestria, in every single book I could find, just to send you back home? I exhausted all the resources of magic I had to find a solution, and nothing appeared! And whenever you talked about the things in your world, and how they could do better things than us without magic, I despaired even more! It was as if your reproaches for each failed attempt helped you!"
  244.
  245. >Twilight breaks down, crying and shouting, releasing what had been on her mind for more than ten years.
  246.
  247. >"I'M SORRY! I'M SORRY I LET YOU DOWN!"
  248.
  249. >All the pain, all the guilt of others paying for her own mistake weighed on her, all because in a day like any other, a spell did not go as expected and ended up robbing another world of one of his sons.
  250. >She remembered how at first, she tried to resolve the situation using what she had learned, and how everything ended a failure and ended in her having to inform Princess Celestia of her mistake.
  251. >And yet, together, they could not find a solution.
  252. >Once, seriously thought of using the mirror portal, that strange gateway to other worlds, because wasn't Anonymous one of those bipeds that had elongated claws instead of hooves?
  253. >But then she remembered what it was like to live there.
  254. >A different, single place, where no one knows you're away from your friends and family, just like Anonymous.
  255. >It was a solution that would please only her, but the would deny Anon the return to his family.
  256. >It was not generosity, it was cruelty.
  257. >And Anonymous, through the terror of being alone, being the only one of his kind in a world not made for him, knowing that he would die, and that no one would stop to remind him that he ever existed, recalled the early days of him coming to Equestria, the terror, the desperation of knowing nothing other than the fact everyone else would only see him as a monster.
  258. >The sadness of the times Twilight listened to him mourn in his sleep.
  259. >If it was difficult for her to spend three days in a strange world, then how serious would the burden of 10 years be?
  260.
  261. >Anon's focus on everything he knew, was his comfort zone, his anchor to a fractured reality would never return, his stubbornness, his pride and contempt for each rule that Twilight imposed, rebuking him as if he were a colt, minimizing his situation, every look of repudiation and fear that the ponies that saw him showed...
  262. >What else was there to keep your sanity than the last glimpse of your world?
  263. >The science.
  264.
  265.
  266. >"I'm sorry, I'm sorry, Anon!"
  267.
  268.
  269. >"You, without wings or magic, have made what no pony would have ever imagined before. Y-you've done more in 10 years than we have achieved in a thousand..."
  270.
  271. >"You were right all along... science IS mightier than magic..."
  272.
  273. >Anonymous kneels down and wraps Twilight in his arms.
  274. >She's surprised at first, then curls up on his shoulder, shedding heavy tears and remaining so for a while, maybe a moment, perhaps a life, as time is irrelevant to these things.
  275.
  276. "Okay, okay Twilight..."
  277.
  278. >He feels the rhythm of the beating of Twilight's heart, like a drum playing lightning to subside in an ocean of calm.
  279.
  280. >Not much more time was spent much time together until the hug dissolved.
  281. >Anon cleans the dry tears from his face and smiles.
  282.
  283. "...You want to hear a secret?"
  284.
  285. >Twilight slowly nods.
  286.
  287. "When I came to your world, when I came to this magical land of pastel little horses lacking Newtonian laws..."
  288.
  289. >Twilight listens intently.
  290.
  291. "I absolutely freaked out..."
  292.
  293. "But anyway, in the end, my mind made me realize that if I wanted to survive, I was to adapt to the nature of this world, mold myself to their culture and civilization and finally... learn."
  294.
  295. "Why I asked you teach me everything you know about magic, was to cross check my notions and determine what was best, and then I understood."
  296.
  297. "Science and magic are just two sides of the same coin, two different languages for the same message."
  298.
  299. >"Incredible..."
  300.
  301. "With that in mind, I calculated what I could do with my human notions combined with Equestrian magic, so I could suddenly understand how to invent, based on the needs of each pony. If I were one to guess, I'd say I'd have my Cutie Mark by now."
  302.
  303. >He looks at himself.
  304.
  305. "Nope, still don't have it."
  306.
  307. >Twilight giggles.
  308.
  309. "So when I was arrested, I solicit all books they could read, it was obvious that there was not much future in Equestria with ponies like Torquemada and his notions closed. You helped a bit in that sense- your obstinacy that magic was above of everything, but I felt a little sad and disappointed when you could not see the other side of the coin."
  310.
  311. "But, here we are now, both nigh for our failures, but also grown up, here in Eureka, everyone can have a new beginning... Maybe it's time we also have a new beginning."
  312.
  313. >"Anon, that would be fantastic!"
  314.
  315. >She stands up, renewed sparkle in her eyes and a heavy weight off of her shoulders.
  316.
  317. "Twilight, you, and all those who want to come here, are welcome to Eureka, as our guests and as our friends. There are many things we can learn from each other, and even today and tomorrow I'm teaching an apprentice of mine."
  318.
  319. "But, first things first, manners mine, Princess of Equestria Twilight Sparkle, welcome everypony to Eureka, the city of the future. My name is Anonymous."
  320.
  321. >Twilight rises and extends a bow.
  322.
  323. >"Greetings, Sir Anonymous, Twilight Sparkle, Princess of Friendship."
  324.
  325. >For a brief moment, they both maintain serious, solid looks.
  326. >Then they laugh.
  327.
  328. >"You know, Anon, the only regret I've had was not being able to take you back home all these years..."
  329.
