  1. Feng Tiankong (Sky): Main character. Son of an apparently nameless mountain hermit who taught him his martial arts, the HEAVEN'S BLESSINGS Internal Art and the ENDLESS SKY FORMS External Art. Raised well away from anything resembling developed civilization, Sky had only a single friend in Nine Village Valley and his father to associate with, thus etiquette and social graces are somewhat in short supply in his personality. Though naive of many aspects of life outside of his martial training (including politics, economics, literature, Wulin society, religion, geography, and women), he in fact demonstrates high levels of intelligence when he is finally given information to work with...which unfortunately for him is quite rarely. Possesses a sharp wit, which he is quick to employ in verbal sparring. His true identity has recently been publicly revealed to the Jianghu, and he has inherited Yuan Shengli's GOLDEN QILIN SWORD SKILL.
  2.
  3. Duan Lei: The Swiftest Saber of Hunan. Duan Lei is a relatively well-known xia in the southern lands of the Empire. Born to a family of farmers with no martial legacy, an as-of-yet unnamed master took him in and taught him the basics of martial arts, introducing him to the Jianghu. After leaving his master and striking out on his own, he performed many chivalrous deeds despite his young age (including fighting three expert swordsmen at the same time to win a lady's hand) and even developed his own style. Lei is somewhat disdainful of the complex politics and maneuverings the Wulin goes through, seeing it as detracting from the purity of it's ideals. After meeting Sky (who has several similar personality traits) they became Sworn Brothers during a night of drinking. A lover of alcohol, which he seemingly has a bottomless tolerance for. His sole regret seems to be a failed romance with the woman who's hand he fought for. The primary user as well as inventor of the CAREFREE SABER style.
  4.
  5. Tang Zhu: An attractive but somewhat troublesome young girl whom Sky caught stealing his dinner one night. Physically unique for her green eyes, green hair, and green nails (all stemming from her unique form of kungfu training). The heiress of one of the thirteen families of the Tang Clan of assassins, Zhu's upbringing was incredibly traumatic thanks to the early death of her father. As the only heir left she was forced to ingest dozens of varieties of poison to strengthen her internal energy reserves, which had the unusual side effect of turning her hair and nails permanently dark green. She was also taught the many assassination martial arts techniques known by the Tang as well as their advanced medicinal sciences. Though a highly proficient martial artist and knowledgeable about Wulin politics, she strongly seems to favor non-conflict and avoiding the usual ties and rivalries of the Jianghu, likely due to her personal experiences in life deriving from those very social ties. Sky feels some guilt at her painful life as the death of her father was the direct cause of much of it, and he was killed by Sky's father Feng Renshu. Though she knows the basics of several Tang Clan martial arts, her primary styles are FLOWING SHADOW CLAWS and BLACK HORNET SWARM.
  6.
  7. Brother Genshu: A Shaolin Sect monk and one of the Top Ten Young Heroes, Genshu is something of an unusual individual; though he is a xia and a highly proficient martial artist, he claims to be a pacifist and thus never fights outside of friendly sparring matches. Though his wit is not nearly as acerbic as Sky's is, Genshu seems to be one of the only people who can beat him in verbal sparring matches on a regular basis. Possesses an astounding level of martial arts prowess, having knowledge of all 72 different styles known to the Shaolin Sect, a feat nearly unheard of in it's history. The upper limit to his skills is unknown at this time. Has a particular habit of popping up without being noticed, as well as vanishing as soon as you look away from him, much to Sky's annoyance.
  8.
  9. Xiao Jian: Meaning "Dawn Sword", heir to Sword Saint, the head of the Heaven Sword Alliance. As the heir to what is likely the second-most powerful (and certainly the largest) Wulin faction, Jian had nothing but the best tutors in his life in swordplay, quickly dispelling a nearly unparalleled genius with his faction's weapon. By 12 he had exceeded most of his instructors, and by 15 he had defeated the leaders of several smaller factions. He is polite but terse, intelligent but distant, finds social niceties and mores a needless luxury and seems to completely lack a sense of humor. Ironically Sky dislikes him for all the reasons they are alike rather then the ways they are different.
  10.
  11. Ma Huizhong: One of the Top Tep Young Heroes, and a swordsman from the Wudang Sect. He is pleasant both to speak with and to look upon, unfailing polite and respectful, and all in all a really, really nice guy. Friends with Genshu and Yang Meilin.
  12.
  13. Shi Hualong: Called "Barefoot Doctor", Hualong is one of the Top Ten Young Heroes and the Beggar Fraternity's hopeful for the tournament. Currently unmet by Sky. Duan Lei has a rivalry with him, but it seems to be a friendly one, at least on Duan Lei's side. Rumored to be friends with Genshu, and Huizhong of the Top Ten Young Heroes.
  14.
  15. Zhou Ai: Called "Fairy Swordswoman". One of the Top Ten Young Heroes, and a representative of the Emei Sect. Shorter then others and youngest-looking of the TTYH, Ai gives the impression of being much younger then her 18 years of age. Her complete inexperience with men makes her nervous around them, and she seems to be somewhat clumsy, even by her own admission and admission of her elder sister Li Ruyi. However she is possessed of a nearly perfect memory, which allows her to learn external arts at an astonishing pace despite her youth, and her strong martial lineage grants her impressive internal energy for her age as well. Knows the EMEI SWORDPLAY, YUE MAIDEN SWORD, and FIST OF BEAUTIES styles.
  16.
  17. Ao Zhengzhu: Called "Dragon Princess", Zhengzhu (who's name means "pearl") is the daughter of the mighty and infamous Eastern Dragon King Ao Guang, a rebel from the Imperial Court who rules the pirate island nation of Tungning, far to the East. Imperious, proud, mindful of her station, and confident, she would fit in easily at the Imperial Court, were she not a robber on the rivers and seas of the Empire. On good terms with Sky (whom she perpetually calls "My Lord", despite Sky's corrections). Prone to unusual temperament shifts; sometimes she's a proud warrior-princess, while other times she's an overexcited teenager (usually around Sky). Seems to be quite proud of her exceptionally long, exceptionally fine dark hair.
  18.
  19. Bai Tiexin: Called "Steeleyes". A constable of the Jinyiwei, the Empire's secret police, rumored to be an equal of the Top Ten Young Heroes. Tiexin is possessed of a keenly intelligent and analytical mind which aids him greatly in his investigations as law enforcement officer. While highly devoted to justice and bringing in lawbreakers, he seems far more willing to take the lives then many other xia and does so with little remorse, earning him his nickname. He possesses two skills currently known to Sky; his ICE HEART KNACK (which he claims "makes him aware of everything") and his FIERY RAPTOR EYES (which he claims "let him see everything"). What either of these techniques do is unknown currently.
  20.
  21. Qiu Qiang: Head of the Iron Palm Sect despite being only twenty-three, Qiang appears to be a mean-looking individual of impressive physical build. It is publicly known that he challenged his father for rights to control the Iron Palm Sect when we was eighteen and slew him during the duel, after which he dragged his faction from mediocrity to be one of the south's most powerful factions. Considered to be "an asshole" Duan Lei, which Sky confirmed for himself. Qiang is arrogant, rude, direct, and completely ruthless in battle, and seems to possess either an unhealthily strong zeal for combat, a masochistic streak, or both. He helped Sky find the bathroom once though, so there's that. His IRON BODY internal martial art gives him immense strength and incredible resistance to injury; while he can still be injured as a normal person, his ability to ignore pain and function despite these wounds makes him incredibly difficult to permanently put down in a fight.
  22.
  23. Li Honglan: Meaning "Red Orchid". One of the Top Ten Young Heroes and a member of the Resplendent Phoenix Society. Shockingly beautiful and graceful as a swan, she is dubbed by Duan Lei to be "unavailable" for unspecified reasons. Unashamedly provocative and flirtatious, she seems quite manipulative in her behavior tendencies, immediately offering Sky a position in the Society simply because she saw him as a valuable resource to exploit. After extensive verbal sparring, Sky discovered a hidden enmity between her and Duan Lei, which she refused to elaborate upon. After being defeated by Sky in battle she appears to have become infatuated with him. A skilled user of her sect's FOX-SPIRIT SONG Internal arts and SIXTEEN ILLUSION PALM and FLYING RED SILK, the latter of which is performed with a whip.
  24.
  25. Yang Meilin: Called "Sacred Spear Sage". A member of the Junzi Society, and a controversial figure within it. A scholar, philosopher, and a descendent of the famous Yang Clan. Considered by Duan Lei to be "pretty nice actually". Proved to be intelligent, observant, and possessed of a good sense of humor as well as being someone bookish and into non-martial pursuits such as art, poetry, writing, and calligraphy even more then she is into martial arts. Her Sifu is Zhuge Zhengwo, a famous scholar of the Zhuge family, and her father is a General in the Imperial Army. She has a rocky relationship with the society she belongs to thanks to her gender, as the Junzi Society conforms mostly to traditional Confucian beliefs, including those towards women.
  26.
  27. The Mighty Kamushin: One of the incredibly rare but magnificent Great Condors (a species of gigantic birds of humanlike intelligence and rumored immortality), Mighty Kamushin is an immense bird several times as large as a horse, easily capable of carrying two to three people in flight upon his great back. Sky met Mighty Kamushin after freeing him from poachers from Beast King Manor and thus quickly befriended the powerful bird. He learned of his name via a curious harness the condor wore that had the name inscribed on it. Mighty Kamushin's past before meeting Sky is unknown, but is probably pretty awesome. Sky is his human sidekick, not the other way around.
  28.
  29. Feng Renshu: Called "Ba" (Dad). Tiankong's mysterious parent, Sifu was not a gentle man, but not a cruel one either. He possessed incredible power in the martial arts, far more then even Sky personally suspected. Having vanished due to Sky's mistakes, Sky has took it upon himself to find his father and rescue him from his captors despite not even knowing his real name. Sky has discovered his father's name and incredible heroic legacy, that of the former Wulin Mengzhu known by all as Storm Dragon which unfortunately lists his potential enemies and allies among the entirety of the Wulin. Despite displaying seemingly godlike power in the past he was still seemingly captured by four unknown individuals for unknown reasons. Though his former identity is a revelation to Sky, so much of Storm Dragon's past is entangled with rumor and hearsay that ultimately Sky still knows very few hard facts about his father.
  30.
  31. Yuan Shengli: Head of the Yuan Clan, wealthiest sect in Chengdu, and organizer of the current Top Ten Young Heroes Tournament. As a member of the Four Houses, a quartet of new martial clans founded by a sworn brotherhood who traveled together, he he wields influence in the Wulin disproportionate to his clan's size. While he has been nothing but polite and has a reputation for generosity and kindness in Chengdu and Sichuan, his sense of righteousness has driven him to rebel against the Ming Empire for the endless corruption he sees the Ming as being afflicted with, pushing the Sichuan region into open war with the Ming Empire. Sky was forced to kill him in dramatic single combat to save Chengdu, though Shengli held no personal grudges against him and even gave him the manual for his famed GOLDEN QILIN SWORD SKILL.
  32.
  33. Yuan Qiyue: Yuan Shengli's daughter and only child. With the Yuan Clan devestated after the death of it's founder, Qiyue became the Lady Yuan and is solely responsible for keeping what remains of the once-potent force in the jianghu together. Though her father sheltered her from danger and did no teach her martial arts beyond some basic Lightfoot and self-defense skills, Qiyue is a formidable figure in some ways for her incredibly keen mind rather then sheer martial power. Her intellect is rumored to far exceed her father's and he spared no expense in educating her on any subject she desires to learn. She has very little reputation of note in the Wulin beyond being known for her beauty, thanks to her lack of martial arts skills.
  34.
  35. Ao Guang: Called Eastern Dragon King. Former Sworn Brother of the current Emperor, Ao Guang was originally Admiral of the Imperial Navy and highly regarded throughout the Jianghu as a noble and upright hero, albeit one with great pride. After helping the current Emperor take the throne they had a falling out several years later for unknown reasons, forcing Guang to flee with his family and retainers to the island of Tungning to the east. Swearing vengeance upon his former Sworn Brother, he formed a rebel nation on the island, allying with the local tribesman, Woku pirates, and the Ryukyu Kingdom in his vendetta to overthrow the throne he helped his former sworn brother win.
  36.
  37. Lu Kang: An Imperial General and rival of Ao Guang, the elder brother of Guang's deceased sworn brother Lu Bohai. He is an immense man with a somewhat unpleasant reputation on the battlefield.
  38.
  39. Ironheart: True name unknown. 6'11'' in height and hundreds of pounds of solid muscle and tanned skin hide a mystery behind this silent giant. Duan Lei seems to know of him by reputation, but what that reputation IS precisely is unknown right now. He seems to know Sky somehow, though Sky is positive he has never met him before. He has the unique distinction of making Sky feel an emotion he is otherwise completely unused to; fear.
  40.
  41. Tang Shijing: Called "The Scholar With Nine Lives". Having worked for or belonged to half a dozen sects, he is known for joining smaller groups and using his brilliant strategies and political mind to help them rise to prominence. Tang's repeated successes in this area have gained him his nickname, for he has managed to accomplish in one life what other men would take nine to do. He is Tang Zhu's promised husband, a fact which revolts her. Though still unmet by Sky, he has proven to be treacherous and duplicitous when he betrayed Yuan Shengli's secret revolutionary plot to the Ming Empire for reasons currently unknown.
  42.
  43. Fire God Zhurong: A terrifying warlord xia of almost unbelievable power who led the Holy Flame Cult, a faction of foreign xia from Yuenan. Zhurong devastated the Wulin two decades ago, leading his horde of merciless fanatics to rule much of southern China before the legendary Storm Dragon (Sky's father) stopped him. Current the Flame Cult is led by a new Zhurong, though this one is either considerably less powerful or considerably less charismatic.
  44.
  45. Sho Eiji: Ao Zhuzheng's loyal foreign bodyguard, a warrior from a far away land called the Ryukyu Kingdom. Sky has great difficulty remembering his name, possibly because it's pronunciation is strange an foreign to the Han language.
  46.
  47. ANDAAAAAA: Who the FUCK was that guy?
