Born to a Starfleet Family--up through great-grandparents
Joined up both out of obligation (Well, it's what we *do*) and desire
Graduated well, not at top but close
First assignment: boring middy cruise on a science vessel for ~8mos.
Second assignment: engineering dept. officer on a cruiser
	-shit goes down, mutiny rises up
	-isn't part of the uprising, attempts to put it down
	-insurrection unsuccessful, but after RTB finds out the captain was under investigation (selling information to Romulans)
	-crew that was involved in put-down was grounded for 6mos. during investigation
	-ultimately officers involved were reprimanded for failing to notice anything was up
Becomes angry and cynical and bitter
Gets into fight(s?)
Another almost-year of probation
Gets act together, flies straight, nose clean, etc.
Leaves him slightly distrustful of high authority, occasional cynical moments
