Season 24 IM Power Rankings

1. Running With Scizors
Right now I think Running With Scizors is looking to be the strongest team out of the top 3 and it’s hard to not see them in grand finals. Their loss against Dexter’s Lab however has shown cracks in the armor, so it isn’t impossible for them to fall out of this spot, although it could also just mean they aren’t as much of a Viaduct team.

2. Muscle March
I’m putting this team at 2nd for now because of some very strong results and the fact that I don’t see them losing to anyone below 3rd place. Although they did lose to suck my jonathan, supposedly Tojo’s computer crashed while they were 2 rounds up and he didn’t get back in until they’d lost 2 rounds. I doubt that’s entirely why they lost, but I do think they have the potential to beat suck my jonathan if they face them in playoffs.

3. suck my jonathan
At first glance they seem to be another shoe-in for grand finals, but they seem to be looking pretty shaky recently. A very close game which debatably could have been a loss against Muscle March, as well as losses against Dexter’s Lab and a big upset losing to Ayylmao Terror Squad. Looking at the stats it seems like Kapoww isn’t performing nearly as well as expected, but stats aren’t everything. Something is holding this team back and I think they could even fall a couple more spots from here if they don’t figure out what it is.

 4. Dexter’s Lab
This team has put up some very good results this season. They beat both Running With Scizors on Viaduct without dropping a round, and beat suck my jonathan in a 5-3 on Process as well. Looking at suck my jonathan’s recent performance it’s not too crazy to think they could take 3rd place if they keep their form through the rest of the season.

5. Cat Noises
Picking up Knuck on scout and Mustardoverlord on pocket seems to have been a huge boost for this team. Right now I’m putting them on 5th, but they have beaten Dexter’s Lab fairly convincingly on Viaduct, with only one of their players barely below 300 dpm. Should they keep up this form from here on they could certainly take 4th or even overtake Dexter’s Lab for 3rd(assuming suck my jonathan doesn’t get their shit together for playoffs).

6. conner and the coons
I was going to put this team a spot lower than Sparkle Gang, but seeing a convincing 4-0 on Viaduct makes me think otherwise. Although I still don’t think this team has been performing nearly as well as they could be, they could easily pick up a second wind and jump a few spots. The individual talent on the team is fantastic, so if they get it together and start clicking they could break into top 4 very quickly, and it seems like they might be starting to do that.

7. Sparkle Gang
A very solid team for a long time, I almost feel bad putting them this far down in the top 8. Although this isn’t the strongest iteration of the team, they play together very well, which may be due to the large amount of overall experience they have. If some other teams really turn it up, there’s a small chance they could get bumped out of top 8 but I don’t think there’s a good chance of that happening.

8. weebs kill teams
This team was supposed to be dead at the start of the season but then revived under a slightly different roster. I don’t think it’s a huge deal that they had to forfeit their first two games, since they most likely would’ve lost to those two teams anyways. However, the only reason I put them at 8th ahead of other teams is because they seem to have picked up Delpo on demo recently. Delpo’s a complete monster, being able to pull over 500 dpm on Viaduct. They aren’t devoid of other talent, though, with special mention to Keith for rising very quickly to be a potential top IM Scout. I’m not entirely sure that Delpo is 100% playing the whole season, but if he is I’m certain this team will make top 8 and otherwise be a bubble team.

Bubble Teams: I think most bubble teams have a chance 7th or 8th this season depending on how things work out. It seems a lot of teams are picking up power players mid-season, so if that trend continues a lot of moving around could happen in the bottom half of the top 8. Also, bubble teams are in no particular order.

Ayylmao Terror Squad – I don’t know much about this team except that HappyBob seems to like to cut people, although I can’t claim to know the whole story there. They’ve taken home some pretty promising wins against suck my jonathan and CanUDigglet as well as having a win against weebs kill teams from early in the season.

The Pound – Although seemingly not as strong as some might have predicted before the start of the season, they can’t be counted out quite yet for that 8th place spot. They’ve done fairly well so far, with their only losses being to Dexter’s Lab and Running With Scizors, so if they keep momentum they could take away some underdog victories as well.

CanUDigglet – If this were the same team that we’d seen early in the season, I might have been tempted to put them in 8th. However, after having to change some players around, their performance has seemed a lot weaker. Unless they really start to hit a stride I don’t see them breaking into top 8 considering they’ve already lost against pretty much every other bubble team.
