  1. "And I'm telling you, we don't need to reinforce the wall. It stands just fine against the number of Grimm we see here."
  2. "Chairman, you know the damage that was done in the last attack. If another group that size attacks, then the wall won't-"
  3. "Enough. That attack was an abnormality. A Grimm attack of that magnitude is a once-in-a-life-time event. Our grandchildren's grandchildren won't see an attack of that scale. Our walls may not be as grand as the Four Kingdoms', but they are more than enough for us."
  4. The chamber doors are flung open as an out of breath guard nearly falls into the room.
  5. "Sir... It's gone... Oakridge... It's gone..."
  6. "What do you mean it's gone?"
  7. "We saw the smoke from the tower... Sent out the scouts.. Only two made it back.. Couldn't get close to the village.. Too many Grimm. They tried to get back, but there was too many.. The Grimm.. They're coming."
  8. "Sound the alarm. Get the civilians into the bunker. Send word to the Kingdoms. Maybe it's not too late.."
  9. Sirens echo in the streets as the non-combatants scramble for the safety of the vault. The village's militia is quick to set up lines of defense, but their numbers were small. Most were armed with swords, spears, and pikes. Few were armed with dust powder guns from the Color Wars, few more had modern firearms.
  10. The howls of Grimm closed in on the defenders as they waited for the advancing mass to reach them.
  11. Several jumped as a loud bang was heard against the wall. The sound grew and intensified as hands tightened their grip on swords. Dents and cracks multiplied by the second as the torrent of Grimm outside threatened to overtake them.
  12. The flood gates quickly gave way as dozens of Grimm flowed through smaller openings in the wall while dozens more poured through a massive whole near the main gate.
  13. The lines were quickly broken; anyone who wasn't picked off turned and ran. Those with any combat experience tried to at least take one with them, but their numbers were just too much to overcome.
  14. The screams of victims filled the air as the ones not fortunate enough to fall in the first few seconds tried their best to protect the last few women and children that had yet to make it into the bunker.
  15. The heavy doors swing shut as the Grimm draw near, leaving a pair of children at the mercy of the monsters. The final guard falls, and the children are left alone, backs to the wall as the Grimm close in.
  16. A stream of bullets cuts down the Grimm nearest the kids.
  17. The death radius expands until several Tuckerbots and Atlas soldiers land in front of the bunker's entrance, weapons blazing. Grimm are being torn to shreds as four full squads of six Tuckerbots and two soldiers each deploy in the village.
  18. The bunker opens for a fraction of a second, just long enough to get the young ones inside while the soldiers protect them.
  19. The soldiers push forward against the seemingly endless waves of Grimm. Gunfire deafens the howling of the beasts as Atlas' Finest prove their worth. Slowly, they start to regain the village.
  20. Until the first Nevermore swoops in and takes the head off a Tuckerbot.
  21. The defense quickly collapses under the Grimm reinforcements. Their Bullhead is quickly taken out by the massive flock, removing their air support and leaving them vulnerable to the skies. Forced to fight in a second theater, the Atlas soldiers quickly lose a full squad of men.
  22. The captain of the strike team quickly takes out his scroll, trying to get a second wave of troops to turn the tides. "We need reinforcements. We're being overrun! Repeat. We're being-"
  23. And Ursa tackles the guy next to him, and he quickly drops his scroll to raise his weapon and kill it. He kicks the Ursa's body and holds his hand out to the guy on the ground.
  24. The fallen man takes his officers hand and pulls him on top of him as an Ursa's paw swipes the air he was standing in.
  25. The captain rolls on the ground before popping up on his knee and killing the second Ursa. He tosses his rifle to his fellow soldier and draws his revolver.
  26. He fires at an oncoming Ursa, removing it's torso with the powerful dust rounds. He fires once more at a second Grimm while walking backwards towards the bunker.
  27. "Fall back! Fall back!"
  28. "Hold your positions!"
  29. The captain looks up as the high voice fills his ears and a red flash leaves petals falling from the sky.
  30. The sounds of Grimm being slain by the dozen echo in the otherwise empty village as the tiny reaper spins her massive scythe.
  31. Grimm die by the droves as the soldiers hold their ground thanks to their new ally.
  32. More shots behind them ring out, and a Nevermore quickly swoops in low before crashing into the crowd of Grimm.
  33. A mass of yellow hair soon lands near where the bird went down, punching the ground and sending a shockwave out that knocks the Grimm away.
  34. The woman stands and quickly disappears into the chaos, punching through the army of darkness with ease and thinning their numbers even more.
  35. Despite the sudden turn, the soldiers were having a difficult time keeping up. The sheer volume of Grimm was too great for even the pair of hunters to stem. The soldiers were surrounded, practically at the mercy of the Grimm before a glyph flashes under their feet. A moment later, a wall of ice spears the nearby Grimm, leaving the soldiers unharmed.
  36. Flashes of glyphs dot the village as Grimm are frozen or sent flying. A white blur is seen slashing through the streets, piercing through the Grimm in her path.
  37. The soldiers press forward towards the wall as the horde of Grimm starts to thin. As they move through the streets, they come across yet another huntress controlling the tide of Grimm. As they move past the black haired girl's area, the captain sees an Ursa about to land a hit on her blindside.
  38. "Look out!"
  39. He calls out to her, but the Ursa's paw is too fast and it goes straight through her, only for the real huntress plunges her blade into its shoulder before cleaving it in half. The captain quickly turns his attention back to the Grimm between his men and the gate.
  40. "We'll just leave you to it.."
  41. The men work their way to the ruined wall, killing the few Grimm not drawn away or killed by the huntresses. They focus their fire on the holes, stopping the remaining forces from entering the village.
  42. The day would be won, walls repaired, but how long could humanity hold against an endless sea of monsters?
