It's good to smile and celebrate the death of humanities enemies. If they are driven to suicide, then that's even better.

Supposing the incident was real, no wonder his hands shook as he drank the liquid. *I mean, drinking poison in that situation is the ultimate trust test.* That vial could have been filled with anything - a small vial of monkey urine!

Imagine how foolish you'd feel if you drank a small vial of monkey urine and didn't die. _How humiliating!_

Then again - did anyone see his corpse? How do we *know* he died? We saw him drink a liquid which we're told was poison. Then we were told he later died, *but for that our imagination had to fill in the blanks.*

The fact he resembles what we imagine Socrates to have looked like makes it that much easier for our imagination to accept he drank poison.

Yet another incident with the necessary dots and squiggles of the lie system's distinctive signature.

Perhaps he drank a small vial of prison guard urine instead of hemlock and was taken to an underground prison to be tortured for an indefinite period of time.

He would have no hope of rescue since everyone now believes him to be already dead. That kind of "karmic outcome" would put a smile on many people's faces.

Yes, how indeed was poison smuggled in and given to him? Surely that would have been difficult! But filling up a small vial with urine and passing that to him? Trivial! I'm sure the prison guards all had a good laugh about it.

Well, apparently he was involved in theatre and directed some films. His Socratic appearance may not have been a coincidence.

In the absence of a corpse perhaps this was some kind of "escape/defection" ploy.

_Who, except the paranoid, is going to claim he didn't die?!_ (It would require enough of the court to be in on it, and that would mean the whole trial was a farce!)
