  1. >You stir from your peaceful slumber as bright sunlight reaches your eyes.
  2. >Turning over to dodge the stark light, you wearily force an eye open.
  3. >You've dated, married and, literally, fucked the sun; you'd think it'd stop waking you up so jarringly.
  4. >Grumbling to yourself, you blink harshly, trying to adjust your eyes to the light.
  5. >You couldn't remember the last time you felt this tired.
  6. >If you didn't know any better, you'd swear you had fallen asleep only moments ago.
  7. >But the sunlight spilling in through the windows tells a different tale.
  8. >You guess Celestia must have gotten out of bed a while ago, raising the sun at dawn.
  9. >How strange that she wouldn't have woken you.
  10. >Then again, given how dead tired you are, perhaps she tried but failed, and opted to instead just blast your face with sunlight.
  11. >Well, it sure did the trick -- sometimes you fear that mare knows you too well.
  12.
  13. >With great difficulty, you crawl out of bed.
  14. >Still more asleep than awake, you shamble out of the bedroom and commence your morning routines.
  15. >First a quick shower, then its time for breakfast.
  16. >Scouring the kitchen, you are forced to settle for a bowl of Gorrila Munch.
  17. >You hate this crap.
  18. >It tastes like cardboard, and gets impossibly soggy, unbelievably quickly.
  19. >But after a certain incident involving a certain satyr a few weeks back, it's all the castle serves in ways of breakfast.
  20. >As you chew on the stale cereal, you wonder just how long you've overslept.
  21. >Celestia wasn't anywhere to be seen. She must have already left for the day's duties.
  22. >You take note of the door to Dawn's bedroom stood slightly ajar.
  23. >She must have already left as well.
  24. >Swallowing down a lump of mushed cereal, you furrow your brows; why wouldn't either of them have tried harder to wake you?
  25. >And, furthermore, how come you are so awfully tired?
  26. >It all felt a little bit too strange for comfort.
  27. >You hardly ever overslept.
  28. >In fact, you usually woke up before Celestia did.
  29. >It had been that way ever since the two of you started sharing a bed together.
  30. >You always enjoyed watching her sleep peacefully for a spell, before waking her up with a kiss.
  31. >It always started your day of just right.
  32. >Unlike today.
  33.
  34. >Finishing your cereal, you head back into the bedroom in search of your royal attire.
  35. >Stepping through the door, you come to a halt as you notice a big lump under the covers on the bed.
  36. >Not really sure what to expect, you move closer to inspect.
  37. >A wispy mane, a protruding horn and a pristinely white snout; it's Celestia alright.
  38. >She's fast asleep, her chest slowly rising and falling from her calm breathing.
  39. >Your mind draws a blank for a moment as your eyes move between your sleeping wife, and the sunlit windows of the room.
  40. >Was she here all along? You must have been too tired to notice when you rolled out of bed.
  41. >But why would she go back to sleep after raising the sun?
  42. >Was there some pony holiday you had forgotten about?
  43. >Was she sick?
  44. >Or...
  45. "It couldn't be," you half-whisper to yourself as you squint your eyes at one of the windows. "She couldn't possibly have..."
  46. >You quickly make your way over to the balcony doors and turn the handle down.
  47. >Pushing the doors open, you step out onto the balcony and into the light of the... Moon?
  48. >The city lies dark below you, and the stars twinkle softly above.
  49. >Its night-time, it looks like the moon has only just risen.
  50. >The sun is nowhere to be found.
  51. >Puzzled, you look over at the outside of your windows.
  52. >You are not amused at your find.
  53. >Thin sheets of warmly glowing magic are wrapped over the glass, casting light into your bedroom like spotlights.
  54. "She did."
  55.
  56. >"He hath been in there for a while now, does thou figure he has caught on?" Your aunt Luna asks, as she peeks through the crack of the door.
  57. "I don't know, he might just be struggling to get his work clothes on without waking mommy."
  58. >You smile at the mental image of daddy fighting not to grunt as he tries to squeeze into his tight, royal-blue trousers.
  59. >Luna looks over at you, a small smile present on her face as well.
  60. >This was one of your best pranks yet.
  61. >So simple, yet so efficient.
  62. >Aunt Luna always had the best ideas for pranks.
  63. >As soon as daddy fell asleep, she used her magic to create light outside his windows, and then the show begun.
  64. >You can't believe he didn't hear the two of you giggling as you watched him walk around like a zombie, preparing breakfast in the dead of the night.
  65. >"Thou doesn't think suspicion will arise at mine sister still slumbering?"
  66. "Maybe a little," you shrug. "But he's going to find us out eventually anyways."
  67. >"Damn right I am," a voice booms loudly as the door to your room flies open.
  68. >It's daddy.
  69. >And he doesn't look happy.
  70. >You and your aunt slowly turn to look at eachother, and then back to your dad.
  71. >Silence settles as he glare at the two of you.
  72. >"Art thou experiencing complications, Anonymous?" Aunt Luna breaks the silence, as a grin creeps up on her face.
  73. >His eyes narrow as his brows furrow.
  74. >"Dawn, shouldn't you be in bed by now?" He asks camly. "And Luna, don't you have a castle to run?"
  75. >Neither of you say a word.
  76. >Out of the corner of your eye, you can see the grin on your aunt's face grow bigger by the second.
  77. >"You're grounded," he says flatly. "Both of you."
  78. >He turns to leave, but pauses, looking back at you.
  79. >"And I'm telling Celestia."
  80. >As abruptly as he appeared, he leaves, pulling the door closed behind him.
  81. >You turn your head, your eyes meet with Luna's.
  82. >The two of you stare at eachother in silence for a moment, before collapsing on the floor, heaving with laughter.
