  1. Pentacle Mentor Tasks
  2. =====================
  3.
  4. Mentors will please message the Archbishop when a task has been
  5. successfully completed by one's protege. Please also note the completion
  6. in the House Log in the following format:
  7.
  8. 1 Sarapin 600 // Malefic Name // Mentor Task # Pass // Mentor Name
  9.
  10. (Mentor Task P1A): Select one of the Truths, and hold a discussion with
  11. your mentor about it. Be careful to take notes in your journal.
  12.
  13. (Mentor Task P1B): Demonstrate your anti-theft to your mentor, and make
  14. sure that they approve. Alternatively, if you are confused about
  15. protecting yourself from theft, your mentor is the person to ask.
  16.
  17. (Mentor Task P2A): Ask your mentor to provide you with a map of some
  18. kind, and to take you on a guided tour of the locations mentioned below.
  19. Reference the map often during the tour to help you to learn. Your
  20. mentor will explain the purpose of each location.
  21.
  22. (Mentor Task P3A): Request your mentor to brand you (cf. CHELP
  23. BRANDING), using the branding iron found in the Mhaldorian Museum.
  24. Observe your mentor's description. Work with your mentor to compose a
  25. suitable description. Be sure to include the brand in your description.
  26. Other resources to note are: HELP DESCRIPTION and CLHELP ADP.
  27.
  28. (Mentor Task P3B): the Malefic will absolve themself of the immature
  29. expressions used by their heathen brethren. Mhaldorians are above
  30. certain petty behaviors, such as issuing "joyous smiles", or "chuckling
  31. light-heartedly". The Malefic may wish to refer to HELP EMOTIONLIST for
  32. additional examples.
  33.
  34. The Malefic's goal is to work with their mentor to replace these mundane
  35. emotives with a more Mhaldorian mode of expression. In particular, the
  36. Malefic will develop no fewer than five expressions unique to
  37. themselves, and be able to perform than frequently. Questions as to how
  38. this is possible may be directed toward your mentor.
  39.
  40. (Mentor Task P4A): Speak with your mentor about healing strategies that
  41. they themselves employ, or recommend.
  42.
  43. (Mentor Task P4B): Before you undertake the healing test, practice your
  44. healing skills with your mentor in the arena.
  45.
  46. (Mentor Task P5A): Select one of the Gods (Lord Apollyon, Lord Shaitan,
  47. or Lady Keresis), and hold a discussion with your mentor about them. Be
  48. sure to take notes in your journal. In the cases of Lord Apollyon or
  49. Lady Keresis, your mentor should take you to their public temple, and
  50. take you on a guided tour.
  51.
  52. (Mentor Task P5B): Select a verse from the Apocrypha that resonates with
  53. you, and speak with your mentor about it, and the Apocrypha.
  54.
  55. (Mentor Task P5C): Speak with your mentor about item #5, listed below.
  56. Discuss with your mentor what you envision your future as a Congregant
  57. to be. Special attention is to be paid to House Passages. During this
  58. final discussion, ask your mentor to evaluate your progress, and submit
  59. permission to the Archbishop to undertake your interview.

  65. with a map of some kind. Your mentor will then take you on a guided tour
  66. to each of the locations mentioned below. Be sure to follow along on the
  67. map that the mentor has provided you, so that you know which route you
  68. have taken.
  69.
  70. (Mentor Task H2A): You and your mentor should already have taken several
  71. hunting trips together. See to it that you have together completed at
  72. least three hunting trips together. These hunting trips ought to be
  73. separated by at least a month.
  74.
  75. (Mentor Task H2B): Have your mentor instruct you upon a prayer of
  76. Offering to say when you offer corpses for essence to your God. The
  77. Common Book of Mhaldorian Prayers, which may be found UP from Stygian,
  78. has a sample.
  79.
  80. (Mentor Task H3A): Speak with your mentor about combat strategies that
  81. you will be able to employ.
  82.
  83. (Mentor Task H3B): You will spar your mentor regularly, and not be
  84. satisfied with your progress until you have made your mentor to Suffer.
  85. Spar your mentor at least three times, with the spars separated by at
  86. least a month. Excellence in combat is appreciated, and going beyond
  87. these expectations will be rewarded.
  88.
  89. (Mentor Task H3C): Log your fights, and share the logs with with your
  90. mentor. Discuss what you have learned with your mentor.
  91.
  92. (Mentor Task H4A): Speak with your mentor about what you have learned
  93. about the above scrolls, and share your notes on the scrolls with them.
  94. This task may be undertaken a little at a time covering a few scrolls
  95. each time as necessary.
  96.
  97. (Mentor Task H5A): Speak with your mentor about what you have learned
  98. from this reading, and what your intentions are for your evangelism.
  99.
  100. (Mentor Task H5B): Before presenting your evangelism task, produce a
  101. draft of what you intend to accomplish, and mail it in a letter to your
  102. mentor. Your mentor will make edits and recommendations. Endeavor to
  103. make the changes recommended by your mentor, and re-submit the draft to
  104. your mentor. Continue to do this until both you and your mentor are
  105. happy with the work.
  106.
  107. (Mentor Task H5C): Speak with your mentor, and have them assign you a
  108. penance that you will inflict upon yourself. Examples include, but are
  109. not limited to, short-term exposure to the following:
  110.
  111. * Locking in the Cathedral.
  112. * A vow of silence, without a wax tablet.
  113. * A strict fast from food and water.
  114. * Receipt of and living with an affliction, such as a broken leg or
  115. stupidity, without permission to cure.
  116.
  117. Creativity is appreciated. Following your penance, you will speak with
  118. your mentor about what you learned of Suffering.
  119.
  120. (Mentor Task H6A): Before undertaking the service requirement, clear it
  121. as acceptable with your mentor or with the Archbishop. This requirement
  122. may be waived in the specific instance of converting a heathen, as such
  123. an interaction is opportunistic in nature.
  124.
  125. (Mentor Task H6B): Following the completion of your service requirement,
  126. speak with your mentor about what you have learned, and about how it was
  127. of service to the Congregation or Mhaldor.
  128.
  129. (Mentor Task H7A): Before undertaking your interview, request permission
  130. from your mentor to undertake the interview. Your mentor will evaluate
  131. your progress, and make certain that you are prepared. Your mentor will
  132. then message the Archbishop with their permission.
