  14. >>I can't open an archive! / Archive is corrupted
  15. Some newer works use RAR5 and your archive manager (7zip especially) might not be able to open it.
  16. TRY:
  17. - The latest version of WinRAR or UnRAR.
  18. - BandiZIP seems to work too.
  19.
  20.
  21.
  22. >> The archive is asking for a password.
  23. If it's from the baidu folder, "bdtrysb" usually works. If you downloaded from anime-sharing, check there if a password is included.
  24.

  27. >>When I extract the files, I get fucked up folder names and file names!
  28. You need to change the System Locale to Japanese. (http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/change-system-locale)
  29. If that doesn't help for some reason or you don't want to set the system locale to Japanese, use this program:
  30. https://github.com/kjerk/sjisunzip
  31. (It only works for .zip files, as a warning.)
  32.
  33.
  34.
  35. >> Help! I can't find a work on Google!
  36. Did you search using the RJ code? Did you search using the title? Still nothing?
  37. Look back at the DLsite page and check the release date and download count. The audio you're looking for might have not even been released yet. Or maybe it's so unpopular only 25 people have legally downloaded it and none of them decided to share. If neither is the case, read on.
  38.
  39. Do any or all of these, maybe in this order as well:
  40. 1) Check THE BAIDU FOLDER if it's a recent work. "It's in the baidu folder" is probably the most used expression in these threads because of anons who don't even bother trying.
  41. 2) Check the Anon collection sharing links pastebin. Because there are a lot of uploads (especially in the mediafire and torrent links) that don't have the RJ code included, it would help to search with the title (or part of it) as well.
  42. 3) Anime-sharing has a lot of uploads. Check the OP for the link.
  43. 4) Kasumi/koe/ has their own IRC bot. http://xdcc.kasumi.moe/ (Rizon) Try using that.
  44. 5) Search the archive (NOTE: archive.moe is dead. You can use fgts.jp instead, but it's not as complete). There might be few h-audio that anons have payed for and shared themselves that aren't in the baidu folder or anywhere else.
  45. 6) Are you able/willing to allocate upwards of 40GB of hard drive space for a program that might help you find that rare one? Time to set up Perfect Dark. Check the OP for the guide.
  46.
  47. After you've tried at least three of these, it's time to ask for help.
  48. Not even anons can help you find it? You can still go the legal route. The Japanese Dlsite requires a Japanese debit/credit card, so use the English site for buying. And don't forget to share!
  49.
  50.
  51.
  52. >>Someone said it's in the baidu folder but I can't find it
  53. Wise words from a wise anon: "Scroll down in the baidu folder, more links will appear. You'll reach the bottom eventually, the scrollbar won't go down any further. Then use the search function of your browser and input whatever RJ code you have. It will highlight it for you."
  54. OR you can use the listing an anon made for the old folder and just Ctrl+F. http://pastebin.com/ktf8TVb9
  55.
  56.
  57.
  58. >> I downloaded a fake one! / The contents of the archive I downloaded isn't what I wanted!
  59. Some uploaders get money for every download they get from their uploads. Especially if a work is new or hasn't been shared yet, they'll upload an archive named after the same RJ number and fill it with other things. They'll keep that up until they can replace it with the real one. All the fakes I've downloaded were harmless, but some websites fill their downloads with viruses. Familiarize yourself with the list of fake sites provided in the OP.
  60.
  61.
  62.
  63. >>How do you tell which download is fake?
  64. Here's what I've noticed from my various disappointments. The download link is most likely fake if:
  65. - The file size doesn't match with the size listed in the DLsite page of the product. Give a .01-1 MB difference though because some websites round off their file sizes. However, there are some legit downloads where the sizes don't match. This is because in some cases, the original contains many file types of the same audio tracks (mp3, FLAC, wav) and an uploader may choose to just upload one version of it (most likely the mp3). Some uploaders even omit bonuses like short manga, illustrations, etc.
  66. - The work you're downloading isn't even out yet and there's already a download available! (Check the release date in the DLsite page of the work you want)
  67. - It's a Rapidgator link that you found in a pastebin. (This isn't always true though)
  68. - You found a link in a random site and it needs a premium account before you can download it.
  69.
  70.
  71.
  72. >> Anywhere I can download with peace of mind?
  73. - THE BAIDU FOLDER. I have never downloaded a fake one there, not even once. Also try the various collections other anons have shared with us. Check the pastebin in the OP for links.
  74. - Links from your fellow anons. Also check the archive and the /koe/ board.
  75. - I haven't used anime-sharing yet, but it's a moderated forum and users there can comment/report bad links. Look for the "Trusted Uploader" badge if you want to be extra sure.
  76. - The Kasumi IRC bot.
  77.
  78. tl;dr: If the site is listed in the OP, your chances are great.
  79.
  80.
  81.
  82. >> How do I download specific clips from koe-koe?
  83. Tweak this to fit the browser you're using. The following is for Firefox:
  84. 1) Go to the page of the clip you want to download
  85. 2) Right click anywhere except the player >> View page info >> Click the Media tab
  86. 3) Under the Type column in the Media tab, scroll down until you see one named "Object". Just click it. That's the flash object that contains the audio you want.
  87. 4) Now, see those bits of information underneath (Location, Type, Size, Dimensions)? Divert your attention to the "Location:" line.
  88. You will see an address beside it (see below) that seems to have two links. What you need is the second one (which I've enclosed in
  89. double brackets).
  90. http://koe-koe.com/swf/dewplayer-vol.swf?mp3=[[http://file.koe-koe.com/sound/upload/xxxxx.mp3]]&bgcolor=333333
  91. That's the direct link to the audio file. Copy it.
  92. 5) Paste on your address bar and go.
  93. 6) From there, just right-click and Save Page As/Save Audio As.
  94.
  95. ALTERNATIVELY, an anon wrote a user script that adds a download link under the player. You need Greasemonkey or another user script manager to use it. The script can be found here: http://pastebin.com/2RFBzqg2
  96.
  97.
  98.
  99. >> Port Forwarding issues in Perfect Dark
  100. Here's an anon's solution:
  101. "Try finding your router here: http://portforward.com/english/routers/port_forwarding/#G
  102. If you can't find your specific router just try any random one from the same brand and check the Default Guide, should be similar. For ports put 6881 to 6889. That's what I put since I found that torrent clients use those. I was having trouble too and that ended up working for me."
