  1. Eugène would have been surprised if she could, the dry remark perpetuated the ever-present smirk of his. "Well, no, I'm sure you'd have figured an alternative method." A low chuckle rumbled within his throat, sounding composed in effect due to his sealed lips. "I'll admit I've used my arms often enough that I forget to use my head." A jest, if not traced with a hint of wisdom.

  3. In fact, such a young man wouldn't have given that impression to anyone based on appearances alone. The male's build was slim, deft. And though he boasted the peak wiry athleticism, it was only that. He'd likely match the energy of his peers, but there were undoubtedly many stronger. But was it intentional? One would have to ask. Philosophies differed and were as varied as the men and women who congregated in the city. However, his set of livid-hued eyes were maintained a constant level of alert and awareness; characteristic of a shrewd man.

  5. Furthermore, the interest he invested into the reserved and reticent woman was not solely to apologize for boundaries overstepped, but also a genuine and insatiable curiosity he rarely ever felt as of late. An adage resounded heavily with the youth: quiet people have the loudest minds.

  7. If only she knew what thoughts resided in his own, then she would know how genuine the man's next words would be. "I don't think so," he said in response to the deprecating words aimed towards herself, accompanied with a brisk shake of his head. "I think there's more to you than you let on." That characteristically warm smile of his spread across his lips, seeking to assure her. "And even then, I would have definitely remembered you." The youthful man was visibly confident in his assertions.

  9. Still, she sought to depart, but she would discover him to be a persistent thorn in her side. An image he sought to alter as he followed in pursuit.
