- The planet of Caelum is roughly 5 times the size of the Earth with vast, technologically advanced cityscapes, arcologies, deep forests, mountains that pierce the heavens, and peaceful oceans. Its existence in the solar system is irregular, appearing close to Earth for about five years before disappearing into its own pocket dimension for another five years. When it IS in the solar system, various gateways that look like massive double doors, large enough to fit a yacht, appear on the border of every city and town in the world. Every gate is attended by a specialized robotic automation that acts as a guardian of the gate. The guardian was designed to look like an ethereal angel with broad wings, glowing armor, and a halo to top it off. It is fully capable of defending the gate from entire platoons of fully equipped soldiers, using its superheated sword and blasts of light which acts as some sort of particle beam. If it ever needs assistance, it can call for more automations similar to it from the gate to defend it. In order to pass it, one must submit to a test in which the guardian will wave its hand, almost as if it is scanning the subject, to see if their conscience is clear enough. In reality, it is essentially performing a background check using the Earth's internet and if the guardian deems the subject worthy, he or she is able to pass through the gate to enter Caelum. Once there, the subject will be assimilated over time (about a month) to grant them minor magical abilities and to help them adapt to their new environment.
- The planet of Caelum itself is home to a race of humanoids who are indistinguishable from your average human up front, however each of them seem to have an ethereal beauty to them, making them at least good looking by Earth's standards of beauty. Adding to this angelic aesthetic are working wings with which the Caelumites may glide with, however actually taking off from the ground may require additional training for some to strengthen the wing muscles in order to lift their own bodies since their bones are of normal human beings, albeit a tad bit denser due to the increased gravity of a planet the size of Caelum. The attributes of the Caelumites are of peak human, with the average citizen being stronger, faster, and generally more intelligent than that of 2 average humans, as well as being generally long lived, living to about 200 years. These physical attributes reflect on the Caelumites' desire for perfection and it also shows in their culture, their works, and their constructs. Their cities are massive, containing everything imaginable, from fine restaurants to hobby shops and firing ranges to secluded parks. The Caelumites perfectionism doesn't bar them from having a good time, as they prize enjoyment and the pursuit of happiness. They enjoy the arts of the theater, literature, philosophy, debate, culinary, gardening, and brewing. They also enjoy more modern hobbies such as mechanics, gaming, and animating of movies/shows. As for spiritual beliefs, the Caelumites are fairly secular and atheistic, with 95% of the population being atheists, despite the Caelumite's grasp of magic and angelic appearance. The Caelumites regard magic in a scientific and worldly sense, believing it to be just an extension of their bodies, just like how their voice is. Whilst anyone may follow their religion in peace, one is forbidden from preaching their beliefs in public, as the Caelumites have seen what Earth's humans have wrought upon themselves because of their religions.
- As stated before, some Caelumites possess magical potential, with decades of study in the magical arts yielding powerful magi with the power to bend the elements to their will and perform spectacular feats of healing, conjuration, and alchemy. Occasionally, one in about every 100,000 children born from the Caelumites will have inborn magical skill to match those who study for years on end, showing itself as a golden, glowing halo above their head as a sign of their mystical prowess. When these "Sentinels", as the populace has taken to calling them, reach adulthood, they are given a choice: to live out their own lives as regular citizens, or to join the Sentinel Contingency where they will serve as the protectors of the realm and of the people. Along with traditional training methods in martial and intellectual learning, Sentinels will undergo VR training which exposes them to new knowledge, techniques, etc. They will undergo years of magical training, martial training, and intellectual training which will unlock their true potential, making them comparable to the biblical archangels in both power and will. After about 8 years of Sentinel training, the Sentinels will be put into groups of 8, forming "Sentinel Squads", as they are assigned to particular areas of Caelum to protect, supervise, and maintain.
