  1. “We all thought the grip of chaos would be gone the moment the deathkings and their vile master Korax were torn from this plane of existence… We were wrong… very wrong. What we got after Korax and the Deathkings was even worse… even more chaotic. Korax’s seeds of chaos had already grown into trees whose roots took over Cronos and its “heroes” before anyone even noticed… Cronos is doomed, the Gryphons, Bronze Wolves and Red Wyrms will see to this inevitable fate.” – Etienne the Astronomer. 1459 CR
  2.
  3. After the fall of Korax and the corrupted shadows of “The Three”, Cronos was thought to ascend to an era of peace and quiet, the survivors were expected to pick up and rebuild what had been ruined by Korax and his ilk, and so they did, but the expected era of peace and quiet was never to be seen, it was instead replaced by three greater tyrannies, more terrible than even most mortals could ever imagine.
  4.
  5. First of these three greater tyrannies are the Gryphon Brotherhood, once absorbed into Menelkir’s Arcanum, now reborn into its vile ancient self. The Gryphon Brotherhood seek to elevate the Sorcerers and Wizards of the Realm, and cast down the non-magical peoples of Cronos, into slavery, death or even worse, cast them into experimentation pits deep within the Gryphon Fortress high atop the mountains of northern Cronos. The clergy of the Red Wyrm Church will not be spared from any of this treatment, as the brotherhood seeks to be rid of the pest of faith in false gods and idols, a world without the divines putting pesky limits to our over ambitious wizards. If the Brotherhood is to attain the rule over all of Cronos… surely our world is doomed to destruction, as they will delve into magics far more ancients than their arrogant minds would ever be able to comprehend.
  6.
  7. Second of the greater tyrannies are the Bronze Wolves, survivors of Zedek’s Legion whom have turned law into murder and corruption, no longer are prison sentences a thing, no more trials, none of that, the Wolves see only one solution to crime amidst the realm, death sentences. No matter how small or insignificant a crime, you will be condemned to death by the so called “law” of the Wolves. And as if that weren’t enough, they seek to destroy all traces of magic, dooming our world to having no magic, the very thing that keeps the heavens from falling down upon us! The Wolves want no meddling of the gods either, and instead seek to destroy what is left of the Church of Cronos, the Red Wyrm Cult, in an attempt to vanquish any divine judges, law is to be traveling in one path, and it is a path of bloody, painful death and decay.
  8.
  9. Third and last of the greater tyrannies is the Red Wyrm Cult, the current organized religion of Cronos. Hell-bent on ripping out the faiths of other civilizations, and torturing the “heretics”, the Red Wyrm Cult spreads fear and strife amongst the lands of Cronos. Nothing is to be kept away from the claws of the Red Wyrm, not even magic or laws. Every aspect of mankind is to be twisted and turned to no end by this collection of fanatical clerics and bishops, magic is to be distributed and learned by the church, and no one else, and only the supposed gods will judge the crimes and sins of the peoples of Cronos, gods that have remained dormant for as long as anyone can tell, so who is really the judge in the cosmic game of power is a double edged sword of a question. Could it really be the gods that are behind it? Or is it merely a ruse, put up by the Red Wyrms so that they can sow the seeds of death and corruption among the lands?
  10.
  11. These are the three tyrannies, and it is thanks to these monsters that Cronos has tumbled into what seems like an eternal civil war, a civil war that won’t be able to end happily in any way shape or form… unless the three tyrannies were to be torn away from our plane of existence, but how this will happen, no man knows.
  12.
  13.
  14. And as if things weren’t chaotic enough, a certain unnatural force is resurrecting old horrors over and over: Korax and his slaves, the deathkings. Whatever the source may be for these resurrections, no one is certain, but all our hope lies within the heroes that have saved us these last couple of resurrections… but the latest resurrection seems to be far from recoverable.
  15. Korax has returned, now stronger than ever before, forest are rumored to have been turned to ash in a matter of seconds, rivers have dried up, the earth is unstable, and is capable of sending whole cities down into a doomed descent into the ever constantly corrupting core of Cronos. The deathkings have made a return as well, and are already way ahead of converting Gryphon brothers, Bronze Wolves and Red Wyrm Cultists into their tools of destructing and mayhem for their dark lord, Korax. Whatever the exoskeletonal demon and his ilk have planned for our world remains to be seen, but it seems as though our trio of heroes from the old kingdom remain, these heroes are the legendary Baratus, Parias and Daedolon. They’ve shined light on the darkest corners of our planes before… surely they can do so again, in this grim and dread Cronos that we are preparing ourselves for.
  16.
  17. No one but these three can stand against the threat of Korax and his minions. The three tyrannies are either destroyed or converted by now, and their survivors would no doubt turn such a just battle into some sick and twisted way to give themselves and advantage over one another, in an attempt to convert their terrible rule to the realm.
  18.
  19. Our prayers go out to Baratus, Parias and Daedolon once more, and any others that would take up arms against the return of dread lord Korax and his deathkings and other minions. Whatever fate we await, we sit and hope for the best, for even from darkness will come light. And it is this light of victory that we direct our prayers to, and it is Korax’s corrupted darkness that we direct our curses and banishment chants.
  20.
  21. But yet somewhere beyond… there are other pawns on the cosmic board this time around, and who can know their next moves?
