Some claim they’re pretty when they cry
I say that that’s a god-damned lie
The beauty rests in raw relief
Of violent joy and bitter grief
The swollen cheeks and bloodshot eyes
The strident sobs and subdued sighs
Hold the heart of humanity
This integral insanity:
Feelings push us to live and try
And all hold beauty when they cry.
