  3. <guest_27> hey
  4. <guest_27> anyone here
  5. <guest_47> whats up
  6. <guest_27> so, im buying a new laptop
  7. <guest_47> ok .
  8. <guest_27> and it uses DDR3L SDram
  9. <guest_27> can I put in DDR3 SDRam, or does it have to be DDR3L?
  10. <camerongray> It needs to be DDR3L as that is low voltage RAM
  11. <guest_27> o
  12. <camerongray> I got caught out by the same issue when I bought mine and tried to use regular RAM I had
  13. <guest_47> if the specs say DDR3L , then best to use it .
  14. <camerongray> DDR3L RAM is 1.35v, regular DDR3 is 1.5v
  15. <guest_27> o
  16. <guest_27> ok
  17. <guest_27> http://www.officemax.com/technology/computers/laptop-computers/product-prod5670412
  18. <guest_27> Could you link me to the right kind of ram I need for that?
  19. <baconbuttie> guest_27: http://www.crucial.com/usa/en/compatible-memory-for/Acer/aspire-v5-561p-6869
  20. <guest_27> oo
  21. <guest_27> ty
  22. <guest_47> typical camerongray . gives 1/2 advice then buggers off . any more
  23. <camerongray> guest_47: Wow....
  24. <camerongray> Bet you feel real big hiding under a guest nick DB?
  25. <camerongray> Ever occur to you that maybe I was working on other stuff and got sidetracked?
  26. <guest_47> what , thats not me .

  28. <camerongray> Wow...
  29. <camerongray> Nice try...
  30. <camerongray> Just happen to have the exact same punctuation as DB
  31. <camerongray> And the exact same hostmask as DB
  32. <camerongray> You really are a piece of work...
  33. <guest_47> well, i know not who db is .  ,Though you may .
  34. <camerongray> HAHA, brilliant
  35. <camerongray> guest_47: There - A list of all nicks that have come from your hostmask, totally not you DB: http://postimg.org/image/rvsirep1f/

  38. <camerongray> C'Mon - Admit it!

  40. <guest_00> sup everyone?
  41. <guest_00> I'm just about to think of buying the 512GB Crucial MX100 for my laptop to use for school; video editing and virtual machine work
  42. <camerongray> guest_00: Sweet!
  43. <guest_00> The Crucial MX100 as you might of known is a new model that got released a few weeks ago (I think), that is a die shrink version of the Crucial M500, that is also up to par of faster than the M550
  44. <camerongray> Do you really need all that SSD storage though?  I'd always lean towards a smaller SSD then lots of hard drive for larger files and data
  45. <guest_00> But question is
  46. <guest_00> would you trust such new model like that for reliability yet?
  47. <camerongray> Yeah, it looks really nice - I'm in the market for a couple of new SSDs so will certainly consider them
  48. <camerongray> guest_00: Yeah, Crucial are a good brand and will do loads of testing.etc
  49. <guest_00> Ehh well its a laptop, and I don't want the extra vibration caused by a hybrid of drives
  50. <camerongray> You'll have a warranty for any issues
  51. <camerongray> guest_00: I was more thinking an external HDD - Unless you need all your data when on the move
  52. <guest_00> its only $200 or so anyway
  53. <guest_00> Ehh yeah I need all my data on the move
  54. <guest_00> next month I'm getting a new (high-ish end) laptop for college, and I'll move the SSD to there
  55. <camerongray> Ahh cool, that's great value!
  56. <camerongray> Really can't afford to spend money on one, really want to buy one :P
  57. <guest_00> what I'll be doing will involve quite a lot of virtual machine work, so I need the storage
  58. <camerongray> Which for me usually means buy it and then realise I have no money
  59. <guest_00> and video editing which would also be a factor to lots of writing

  62. <guest_00> but Im sure the writing thing tho is FUD correct?
  63. <baconbuttie> WB hopebot :)
  64. <guest_00> now to get it to wink at meh
  65. <camerongray> Finally! :P
  66. <guest_00> lol hopebot
  67. <guest_00> "Welcome guest_00, after your question"
  68. <guest_00> hah
  69. <camerongray> guest_00: Yeah, SSDs do have fintie write but they will long be retired due to age before that becomes a major issue
  70. <guest_00> ahh what happened to HB
  71. <Hopebot> Greetings. I'm a custom helper bot v:9.3c (not human) written in Perl by Computer Hope. If you have a question, ask it. If someone knows the answer they'll respond ASAP. If you get no response try the forums: http://www.computerhope.com/forum
  72. <camerongray> Just dropped off earlier, not sure why
  73. <guest_00> ouch
  74. <guest_00> Mhm, well what I'll be doing will be data heavy, especially in the write compartment
  75. <camerongray> In what way though?
  76. <guest_00> but I can still trust that it will last me all throughout college n all?
  77. <camerongray> It'll have a pretty long warranty anyway
  78. <guest_00> Virtual machines, HD Video editing, tons of downloading-ish stuff
  79. <camerongray> Ahh, that will be fine
  80. <guest_00> what were you thinking would be actually considered "heavy data writing"?
  81. <camerongray> The time write can become an issue (even then it's tiny) is in situations like massive databases where the SSD is being worked with constantly
  82. <guest_00> ahh
  83. <camerongray> At that sort of level you shouldn't be using a consumer SSD anyway
  84. <guest_47> well Mr Camerongray  i know not what your on about . so , i hope your comments keep you happy
  85. <jamer> That's when you use pci-e ssds
  86. <guest_00> I actually got a "server" (more for a game, not exactly a database) that works with a cheapo used Samsung 830 64GB in a laptop writing about 4GB a day =p
  87. <guest_00> Ahh.. yeah hows pci-e ssds goin along in the consumer world?
  88. <jamer> Expensive
  89. <guest_00> I think I looked one time and I saw a 128gb one for about $220
  90. <guest_00> which didn't sound bad
  91. <guest_00> as long as it well.. provides faster-than-sata3 speeds I guess
  92. <camerongray> guest_47: Come on, be man enought to just admit that you screwed up!  It is very easy to tell that it is you from the way you type.  Also notice that "old_joe" nick in my screenshot coming from your current hostmask?  That was also seen coming from your regular PlusNet hostmask.  So, unless you have someone who happens to type exactly like you, connect from both your hostmasks and randomly make comments about me for no real reason, then you are lying...
  93. [Hopebot] *WARNING # 1/3* camerongray, Please keep your posts short.
  94. <camerongray> guest_47: It's not just recent stuff as well, these logs go back to 2013-07-15
  95. <guest_47> camerongray: ok you have your own view , upto you .
  96. <camerongray> Exactly what DB says
  97. <guest_00> Right, I'll give the 512gb Crucial MX100 SSD a shot for my laptop :D
  98. <camerongray> guest_00: Cool!
  99. <guest_00> Bye guys
  100. <camerongray> cya

  102. <guest_47> camerongray:  actually , this is a shared pc .
  103. <camerongray> HAHA, brilliant
  104. <camerongray> So you just happen to share a PC with someone else that comes here?
  105. <camerongray> And just happen to type in the exact same way?
  106. <camerongray> And seem to have the exact same problem with me?
  107. <guest_47> go back to your cot . i dont  think you are capable of understanding what i just said
  108. <camerongray> WOW!
  109. <camerongray> I completely understand what you said, and it's nonsense
  110. <camerongray> You've been caught out, at least be man enough to admit it
  111. <camerongray> Must be a real big man to badmouth someone when you are hiding under a guest nick because they happened to walk away from the PC for 10 mins
